- sooperskip, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0Smart idea. I noticed immediately in the trailer that they definitely stayed close to the source material for the accident which created Dr. Manhattan. Cudo's to the folks who took the time to do the comparisons.
- bosssmiley, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1You had me at "Watchmen". Excellent submission. Dugg.
- HughesAP, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Great Comparisons, hopefully people will finally read the source material
- Padijun, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1The trailer is definitely Snyder's attempt to show he's going to be faithful to the book, and I've gotta admit I believe him
- VdgX, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1It's amazing how close some of these are. A few days ago I thought this movie was hopeless. They just might pull it off. It's a shame Moore won't see it... Although he'd probably hate it if it even if it was a word-to-word remake.
- UglyShirts, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3I wouldn't be surprised if, like Rodriguez did with "Sin City", he didn't use the actual book for storyboards. Not that I expected less. I remember seeing a similar article doing shot-for-shot page/movie comparisons for "300", and he was damn close then, too.
I think Zack Snyder and Robert Rodriguez both have finally demonstrated the perfect, so-simple-its-ridiculous way to make comic book movies. Pay attention to the source material, and get it to the screen as intact as possible. Screw the focus groups, studio executives, script doctors who want to punch up the action scenes...Just take what's on the page in words and pictures, AND PUT IT ON THE SCREEN IN WORDS AND PICTURES. It's EASY. And good on him for doing it that way. - trademark912, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1I wish they would have played the warmer tones up in the film, I was a bit disappointed in the trailer to be honest.(Let the down votes begin) But the graphic novel was a work of art and I see this film as yet another compositionally weak comic book movie, in a case where if the filmmakers really studied the piece they could startle us with the imagery.
- assclown69, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1It will be difficult to fit the whole book in 120 minutes of film.
My main concern is that the bitchin PIRATE sub-plot will be left out. That was badass.- OpaqueMurdock, on 07/27/2008, -0/+1I just read that they are doing an animated version of the Black Freighter story that will be available at the time of the films release. On the directors cut he plans to possibly put in. : )
there may be as many as 3 versions by the time its all done... the longest could be a marathon experience for the hardcore lovers like you and I. (5 hours was mentioned) *Joy*
