The Watchmen was a take on all the classic super hero teams and this is taking the watchmen and turning it into a saturday morning cartoon reminiscent of all the classic shows. I think that he is just uncomfortable with the movie as a literal translation not living up to the comic. The dude definitely has a sense of humor. He appeared in an episode of the simpsons. In a way watchmen itself was a parody. A very serious, very violent parody.
