- hydroplane, on 06/29/2009, -15/+115Unless the extra 25 minutes includes a giant squid there really is no point to the whole damn thing.
- Jektal, on 06/29/2009, -5/+75Oh come on. The book was better and all, but the squid removal was fine. It actually makes more sense, in that it directly encourages Dr Manhattan to leave Earth, gives the remaining world leaders a clear enemy to unite against, and in the event of a n in-depth investigation might still point to Dr Manhattan as it was his energy that caused the destruction, rather than his energy which somehow went through all the trouble of finding giant alien squids and teleporting them to our cities.
- MidnightRIder77, on 06/29/2009, -4/+72In other words you can waste $8-$11 to see what should have been released months ago. ***** that.
- seantubridy, on 06/29/2009, -3/+71If it's 25 minutes of extended footage of Malin Akerman naked, I'll have some extended footage too.
Ba-dum tsh! - danwallace, on 06/29/2009, -1/+58Seriously. If I wanted to be creeped out by two people making it to oddly misplaced classic rock songs, I'd just walk in on my parents.
- Ouze, on 06/29/2009, -9/+62Jesus, it already felt like it just dragged on, and on, and on. This better be at least 23 minutes of Sally Jupiter / Silk Spectre nudity.
- JoeHammer, on 06/29/2009, -2/+54Even longer uncomfortable sex scene!!!!
- darknecross, on 06/29/2009, -1/+45Only possible shot at redemption is 5 minutes of Rorschach killing people and 20 minutes of Malin Akerman naked.
- bicyclethief, on 06/29/2009, -1/+43WHO WILL WATCH THE WATCHMEN...AGAIN?
- codyman, on 06/29/2009, -20/+57Yes because the 1st version wasn't long enough...
Seriously folks, remember when going to the movies was a great 90 to 120 minutes adventure?
Now it's turned into a 120 minute adventure followed by a 30-60 minute nap
good storytelling (an ever waning concept in Hollywood today) != total run time - Rell812, on 06/29/2009, -2/+38Movies have always approached the two hour mark. The whole 90 minute thing is a pretty common misconception because most children's movies are about that length. So, most people recall movies "once being shorter."
- zjbird, on 06/29/2009, -1/+33Movies used to be way longer than this actually. Then they got shorter. Now, they are getting longer again.
I do agree though, Watchmen was plenty long, I'm not going back for the extra 25 minutes, that's what DVDs are for. - Apokalyps2547, on 06/29/2009, -1/+32Hurry up and release the DVD, ya bums!
- catiecrafa, on 06/29/2009, -0/+31"Snyder’s claim that the extended version is actually “more violent” has to provoke some level of curiosity as to how he could set the bar for brutality in the movie any higher."
I know how he could raise the brutality bar. By doing the ending right.
Not the squid. The clock. How can you spend so much time touching on the importance of the clock, and not use that brutal opening to the final chapter? - xt0xicx, on 06/29/2009, -7/+32Possibly homosexual. Must investigate further.
- danwallace, on 06/29/2009, -0/+22The windmill?
- danwallace, on 06/29/2009, -2/+22Remember back in the day when you used to roll your eyes at old people whining about "back in the day"?
- krispykreams, on 06/29/2009, -5/+24Meh.
- charlietuna, on 06/29/2009, -1/+19Nope, it's all time spent on Dr. Manhattan's enormous glowing blue junk.
- inactive, on 06/29/2009, -4/+22MOAR MONEY PLZ
- jonwise80, on 06/29/2009, -5/+20Ya, seriously. 25 more minutes isn't going to make it better. It could have used tighter editing in the first place...
- punkcat, on 06/29/2009, -6/+20i say squid removal made it better.
- alpharaptor, on 06/29/2009, -1/+15it's ok, you didn't get the "monkey thumb memo". she isn't hot anymore.
- danbrunell, on 06/29/2009, -1/+14It's because they were released on DVD and Blu Ray.....in March.
- Ki77erB, on 06/29/2009, -4/+17Movies also cost like $10 now. Im glad we're getting some extra time. I would be super pissed to pay $10 for a 90 minute flick! I have also recently started going to the movies during the week, when its only $5.
- Rivfader, on 06/29/2009, -2/+15I don't understand how some of you blubbering vaginas did not like this movie. It was one of the most amazing epic movies I have seen in theaters since Lord of the Rings. I watched it three times. What do you expect a blow job with your ticket?
- pantsperch, on 06/29/2009, -0/+12Except grosser and more uncomfortable.
- asnider, on 06/29/2009, -0/+12I don't think making it "more violent" is a good idea. The original version was already excessively violent when compared to the comic book (Rorschach killing the child kidnapper with the cleaver instead of setting the building on fire and giving the guy the option to escape by cutting off his own foot, for example, was not only needlessly violent, but also altered Rorschach's character in a fairly significant way).
- WraTH017, on 06/29/2009, -0/+11Yeah!
Remember when they used to make movies like "Seven Samurai", "Lawrence of Arabia", "Gone with the Wind", "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" "Amadeus", "A Clockwork Orange" and "Space Odissey 2001"?
None of those are 90-120 mins... - Jektal, on 06/29/2009, -0/+11Why would god wear shorts?
- inactive, on 06/29/2009, -2/+13they are releasing that separately....lrn2beafanboy
- mywhitenoise, on 06/29/2009, -0/+10You are 2 for 2.
- faskill, on 06/29/2009, -11/+2124 minutes of blue dong and 1 minute explaining that blue dong man can't wear shorts?
- nepidae, on 06/29/2009, -0/+10There actually isn't any new footage, they are just converting some scenes into slow motion.
- knobbysideup, on 06/29/2009, -7/+17Hopefully there will be more footage of giant blue penis.
- danwallace, on 06/29/2009, -2/+11As long as it's not 25 more minutes of her trying to act.
- MasterGrief, on 06/29/2009, -0/+9Hallelueha ♫
- mywhitenoise, on 06/29/2009, -2/+10Not even a week before the DVD/Blu-Ray Directors Cut comes out. ***** off.
- Ansemx2, on 06/29/2009, -1/+9How about you make it worth my money by ALSO including "Tales of the Black Freighter" in it.
- zaferk, on 06/29/2009, -4/+12Whats the matter, cant take your ritalin during the movie?
buried! - dangerdooms, on 06/29/2009, -1/+9Get back in your casket, zombie Mays. Your day was yesterday !
- T8erT0T, on 06/29/2009, -0/+8Hiii-OOO
- unsigneddigger, on 06/29/2009, -0/+8"The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder." - Alfred Hitchcock
- MasterGrief, on 06/29/2009, -0/+8Sounds like somebody likes fish sticks
- IamZed, on 06/29/2009, -0/+8The DVD comes out in late July anyway, so why?
- MorpheousMarty, on 06/29/2009, -0/+8Thank you. It also doesn't require that "psychic" energy suddenly exist. That bugged me about the comic. If there were psychic powers in this universe there should have been at least one psychic in the comic to justify it. It's better that the only "magic" is Dr Manhattan (and the crazy cleverness of a certain hero).
- ryansmith18, on 06/29/2009, -2/+9@TimTheSloth
Idiot. Uniting together was the entire point of the scheme. By making all the world leaders unite against Dr. Manhattan (even if he was not threatening them), it put off the brewing war between Russia and the US. - jbarket, on 06/29/2009, -2/+9Bitching that a major part of the Watchmen story that only really makes sense _in the context of the story_ is being released like it's some separate, magical animated adventure is being a fanboy.
- leamanc, on 06/29/2009, -0/+7Billy Mays day is over.
- Rivfader, on 06/29/2009, -2/+9Maybe I like 3 hour long epic movies *****.
