This was pulled off well, and it may not have the graphics seen from a two hundred man team, ala Spirits Within, for the extremely small group they were working in this is very impressive.

    • slowmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The skins, textures, and shaders were weak although the modeling was very similar in quality and poly count to the Southpark version...minimal effort could have produced far more stunning results...would have taken a fair bit longer to render but I think it would have been worth it.

    It's pretty darn good tho. Esp with rizzo as mouse and bunsen/beaker/gonzo as agents. Lol. Whoever created this deserves some major props. Hopefully once their 3D modelling experience improves, they'll redo it with true 3D and shading to make it more realistic.

      1) apparently, they used 3d studio's Ink 'n' paint material which, while cool, was probably not appropriate for this video
      2) poor lighting
      3) poor materials (which was probably the reason they made it ink n paint - textures are a bitch to get right)

    • somnus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Actually, I think it's the opposite. Production quality was not great, but made up for it with hilarious role placement. You don't have to write your own script to maximize hilarity; sometimes all you need is to be the first one to replace characters/environments to make it contextually funny.

  • FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6eh... it was "ok" at best. biting the trailer for a movie and replacing the characters isn't exactly "creative" - yeah it took *some* skill (which i'm sure everyone in their class possesses to some degree)... but matrix parodies are a dime a dozen - hell, parodies of any kind are a dime a dozen these days. does anyone come up with new ideas anymore?

    Man, 97% of the stuff on the internet is student made, or non professional. I think I enjoyed it even more knowing that it was produced by students of ITT Tech and not some of the more prestigious higher institutions of film and animation.

While I do have to give them credit for only three people pulling it off if they did do it all from scratch some things seem suspect. It looks like they just cell shaded each scene of the movie and cut out the real characters, replacing them with the models. Still would've been better if they had gone the actual texturing route instead of the cell shading. Would've been a bit more believable too.

    All in all though, it is a nice student project.

    The only difference is that South Park Reloaded is made like the trailer for The Matrix Reloaded while this is made like the trailer of the original Matrix movie.

Guys they had to limit their usage of those (especially bump maps) because they don't have the money to spend on a render farm. God knows how long it took them to render it as it is!
