do diggity.- jdb252, on 10/12/2007, -11/+72Are you kidding? That was sick... Great skill.
- BrowncoatJedi, on 10/12/2007, -154/+26Lame. Nice for a student project, but not ready for the internet.
- JasonTheNerd, on 10/12/2007, -13/+109@Browncoat
Dude did you even watch it? Not ready for the Internet? I don't think YOU are ready for the Internet. - Tanglefuzz, on 10/12/2007, -59/+17I agree with Browncoat, it's just a weak 3d animation...
When I read stuff like "this has to be seen to be believed", my expectations are a bit higher.
The Southpark trailer was way better for example:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=aO7I6T9sdAw
(and that one's a few years old) - Tanglefuzz, on 10/12/2007, -42/+7P.S. i know the southpark one is still pretty weak as a 3d animation, but it's way better than the muppets one IMO :)
- hbweb500, on 10/12/2007, -10/+51"this has to be seen to be believed"
Funny, this is exactly what I believed it would be before I saw it.
Seriously, it was nice, but nothing to call home to Digg about. - invader, on 10/12/2007, -11/+28i agree about it being pretty good for a student project.. not much more than that
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4I liked the way he worked it...
- hbweb500, on 10/12/2007, -22/+5"I liked the way he worked it..."
That's what she said!
Sorry, world... - mrsticks1982, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14man, read the introduction. It was made by three students for an intro glass. I give them major props and hope it serves them well since that field is growing very rapidly today!
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1Well, its wasn't perfect, but it wasn't bad. A little lame that they didn't dub over the voices to be the Muppets. That is what would have made it work.
- TheWorkz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Reminds me of Southpark Matrix
http://youtube.com/watch?v=aO7I6T9sdAw - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12You people have absolutely no respect for how much work goes into a 3d project. This was pulled off well, and it may not have the graphics seen from a two hundred man team, ala Spirits Within, for the extremely small group they were working in this is very impressive.
++digg - davidzet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@tanglefuzz et al. The Southpark version is not even as good. WTF?!? Got something against muppets?
- slowmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The skins, textures, and shaders were weak although the modeling was very similar in quality and poly count to the Southpark version...minimal effort could have produced far more stunning results...would have taken a fair bit longer to render but I think it would have been worth it.
- ZenFu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27The link is borked for me. I'm assuming you're talking about this vid?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LDd-9t1BEQ
It's pretty darn good tho. Esp with rizzo as mouse and bunsen/beaker/gonzo as agents. Lol. Whoever created this deserves some major props. Hopefully once their 3D modelling experience improves, they'll redo it with true 3D and shading to make it more realistic.- StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11It's not that this wasn't "true 3D" - you can tell it was properly rendered. It just looked flat because:
1) apparently, they used 3d studio's Ink 'n' paint material which, while cool, was probably not appropriate for this video
2) poor lighting
3) poor materials (which was probably the reason they made it ink n paint - textures are a bitch to get right) - Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually... Rizzo was Cypher.
- t4k3n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah.. bump maps... where where they?
and miss piggy could use a smoothing modifier, actually they all could .
doesn't add render time and makes them look a load better.
very good effort.
but no digg.
- StarManta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11It's not that this wasn't "true 3D" - you can tell it was properly rendered. It just looked flat because:
- pabut, on 10/12/2007, -28/+1This rocks!! .... however I see the lawyers circling .....
- spraguep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35yeah they are going to sue 3 students making a parody...
- Anpheus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Education falls under Fair Use :)
Thankfully, politicians a long time ago designed our copyright laws, and they recognized the validity of using copyright material in an educational environment.
Unfortunately, the media corporations today would like to have us believe that Fair Use does not exist.
- mdrchobert, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6The original Matrix...
http://virtualmagic.blogspot.com/2006/08/matrix.html - mississippiman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7lol that was great
- mrlost117, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Gonzo totally kicks ass in that role
- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11That was pretty cool. The only things that could have improved it, would be to use real Muppets and Muppet voices.
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Gonzo as Agent Smith! Heelarious!
- culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Gonzo, Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew were the best part by far. That's the only part that really made me laugh-out-loud.
- tikistyle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I think the best part was that the enviroments felt like every single scene they were suppsed to be. I felt like i was watching a 3d overlay on the movie. Unless i was?
Nice job guys. I'll volunteer my vocal impressions if you want to re-do the audio.- magicdonnie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Sorry it has taken so long to write back...contact me at donnie@magicdonnie.com if you are willing to voice over the muppets in the muppet matrix
- stinkstank, on 10/12/2007, -37/+5All three movies sucked and so did this. Whoa!
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+27While two and three sucked, the first matrix movie most CERTAINLY did NOT suck.
- NapoleonGold, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Nicely done guys
and +DUGG
I wish I new what 3D program they used- knid, on 10/12/2007, -19/+14By the looks of it, I'd say it was Note Pad.
- elurstoidi, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5@knid
funniest digg comment today, i was thinkin the same thing - ruprecht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3knew
- Thrasher9, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Awesome!!!
Actually made me want to watch the Matrix again.
Well done. - TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2get those guys a grant or at least a job at henson studios so they can hone their craft.
- unknamed, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2I give it an A- for technical production and a D+ for creativity..... basically muppet heads taking the place of original actors with movie dialog dubbed in. I was bored after 30 seconds.
Not really worthy of the "must be seen to be believed" hype.- 13tongimp, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3I totally agree. This is something I would expect to see on Ebaum, not digg.
- somnus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Actually, I think it's the opposite. Production quality was not great, but made up for it with hilarious role placement. You don't have to write your own script to maximize hilarity; sometimes all you need is to be the first one to replace characters/environments to make it contextually funny.
- warmonger48, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39The funny part is a computer generated Kermit the frog is a better actor than Keanu Reeves.
- ddomanski, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20I thought "Keanu Reeves" *was* computer generated.
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Uah?"
Keanu confused face.
"Uah?"
Keanu surprised face.
- Stri, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Well I really liked it. I thought it was funny.
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4the end was hysterical
- alexrandall, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1Check my submission too
http://digg.com/videos_comedy/sbmatrix_strongbad_matrix_trailer_parody - FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6eh... it was "ok" at best. biting the trailer for a movie and replacing the characters isn't exactly "creative" - yeah it took *some* skill (which i'm sure everyone in their class possesses to some degree)... but matrix parodies are a dime a dozen - hell, parodies of any kind are a dime a dozen these days. does anyone come up with new ideas anymore?
cute, but not worthy of "has to be seen to be believed" - cazoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@BrowncoatJedi,
"Lame. Nice for a student project, but not ready for the internet."
Man, 97% of the stuff on the internet is student made, or non professional. I think I enjoyed it even more knowing that it was produced by students of ITT Tech and not some of the more prestigious higher institutions of film and animation.- CKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+047% of statistics are made up.
- 6pintsofbitter, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2If only had they done a little more than place Muppets in the Matrix roles, maybe a surprise ending? Miss Piggy getting shot? A Keeanau Cameo? The "real world" filled with nothing but Ladies in green striped socks. . . .. .
- Sithlrd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14muppets = autodigg
- rdoger6424, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3exactly. They need a muppet section for digg.
- Xophmeister, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Good concept... However, it would have been so much better if they were real muppets, rather than somewhat dubiously modelled CGI.
- nikolas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I go to school at the ITT Tech campus this was made at.
- somnus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9And...
Something more exciting!
"...I know these guys!"
"...the creators are super ugly! *pic*"
"...the campus is IN the Matrix!" - Equistatic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Would you like fries with your McDegree?
- somnus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9And...
- pointblank187, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Most likely, they used 3ds max for this. While I do have to give them credit for only three people pulling it off if they did do it all from scratch some things seem suspect. It looks like they just cell shaded each scene of the movie and cut out the real characters, replacing them with the models. Still would've been better if they had gone the actual texturing route instead of the cell shading. Would've been a bit more believable too.
All in all though, it is a nice student project. - ZeonZumDeikun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is there more coming to this? This was very good, and I think a bit better than the South Park version (Lip synching was way off in it)and I would love to see more.
- lordhidetora, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1why is this the greatest ***** thing ever...well...after the new weird Al vid.
- NickyBatts, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Did anyone notice that this was a project for some ITT course???
huh... I thought ITT was bogus...- Lososaurus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It is, though you do get some kids with genuine talent that somehow wind up there.
- lazydrumhead, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Y'all need to shut up. This is freaking sick.
- rustymyers, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Super gay. IMO
- curunculus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'd pay good money to see a real Muppet Matrix in a cinema :)
- shirtninjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I liked how they used the rat muppet for Joe Pantoliano's "rat" character, Cypher. Great job.
- dgolding, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is a terrible display of anti-rat prejudice. Rizzo should have been Morpheus, not Cypher. And Beaker as an Agent? I feel the casting is questionable. That being said, this looks to be one of Piggy's best performances, ever....
- Nunya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Pretty good for Intro to 3D modeling I'd say. Cant wait to see their graduate project.
- deputysalty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Freeze Frame at 1:39. It says "ADOBE SUCKS" on the monitors.
- remiprev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"I hate Adobe" is there too
- kingkilr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why are gonzo and beaker the bad guys /cry!
Freaking sweet - Catchpen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Some major amphibious ass kicking going on there. You go Kermie!
- fernando26, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Awesome. Reminds me of South Park: Reloaded
http://youtube.com/watch?v=v7Vsdut0ddg
The only difference is that South Park Reloaded is made like the trailer for The Matrix Reloaded while this is made like the trailer of the original Matrix movie. - iheardrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dang, that must be one hell of an intro class!
- bloodmoney, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Man, reading this thread shows there are two kinds of people in this world. Those that try to lift their fellow man up....and those that try to tear him down. Which one are you?
- dziban303, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1My thoughts exactly. Props to the people who made this, I was laughing my ass off.
It doesn't have to be a technological breakthrough to be ***** awesome! - iheardrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No! I'm saying that it's really good... I never learned stuff like that in my intro classes.
- dziban303, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1My thoughts exactly. Props to the people who made this, I was laughing my ass off.
- ajck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Someone needs to get this video to the Wachowski brothers, it's a quality piece of work. The graphics may not be state of the art but that just needs a re-render, the characterisation is amazing.
- clownguyx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Where is the Swedish Chef?
BORK BORK BORK- donolsen1155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can't you guess?? He's the Oracle!
- caddar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why Gonzo...Whyyyyyy!?
- maninblac1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ITT tech....haha....but not bad. However i've seen AMV's that have been done better than that.
- crawfordbay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome! Great project.
- Switchnig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dig it despite the movie having an extreme lack of FOZZIE
- Kazari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beaker and Dr. Honeydew rock my world.
- aboutblank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Everyone complains about how the video didn't have bump maps or didn't have good textures or lighting. Guys they had to limit their usage of those (especially bump maps) because they don't have the money to spend on a render farm. God knows how long it took them to render it as it is!
- SassyDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And that, my friends, is why I will never hire anyone with a degree from ITT Tech.
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gotta give the boys credit for this stuff!
they put up with a lot of ***** for our free enjoyment - stevenk87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It was funny, well done, and amazing. Everything worked for me...except Carrie Anne Moss' voice coming from Miss Piggy's mouth.
