- robdip, on 04/24/2009, -0/+16Anybody else notice that in all childhood commercials the kids always live next a creek or rocky area or someplace where it would rule to live if u owned that toy....
- bigthree, on 04/24/2009, -0/+15Sgt. Slaughter was awesome. I got his autograph and he signed it Sgt. Slaughter - Yo Joe! I mean you talk about originality!
- CoreyTamas, on 04/24/2009, -0/+13How does Hasbro explain an African American on a team with trained career soldiers?
a) He, too, is a trained career soldier.
b) He is special ops.
c) He is the ranking officer.
d) He was the baddest, hottest disc jockey in Boston before he signed up for the Battle Force 2000 Team. - MMusick, on 04/24/2009, -0/+8Uhh... Sorry but Monkeywrench was the jam.
- smacksaw, on 04/24/2009, -0/+7Really, they were all ridiculous. That's what made them fun. That's what made them "Modern Army Action Figures"...if we wanted realistic, we'd all have bought the 3-pack of generic infantry soldiers for $3.99 at the drugstore.
- archimago42, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6So you played with a giant doll that you could dress and undress and thought small portable hard plastic action figures that you could actually get dirty were "gay". I see....
- sketcher67, on 04/24/2009, -1/+6G.I. Joe: Resolute is badass
http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=8a250595 ... - eloestea, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5all of cobra-la. i hate those stains
- smacksaw, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5f) He cooked their food (Roadblock)
I'm surprised they didn't say that his family were watermelon farmers who worked at Popeye's. - JeyNyce, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4.....And I had every one of them.
- jugheadjones, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4No Serpentor?
"He was created through a breakthrough in cloning research by Dr. Mindbender from the DNA extracted from the unearthed remains of the most ruthless and effective military leaders in history, including Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, Attila the Hun, Philip II of Macedon and his son Alexander the Great, Ivan the Terrible, Vlad the Impaler, Hannibal, Genghis Khan, and Grigori Rasputin."
Serpentor's costume was 80s badass ridiculous. - xcrex, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4Budo has a 6-pack on his nuts
- INDOAZZ, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4Scrap Iron was released carded as part of the third series (1984). He was also sold in 1985, then was discontinued domestically in 1986. Check this site for year by year GIJOE characters, released to the PUBLIC...

- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3“Dee-Jay was the baddest, hottest disc jockey in Boston before he signed up for the Battle Force 2000 Team” awesome
- DiMierism, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3G.I. Joes are by far the coolest action figures ever.
- MondoPest, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3I don't know if he resembles Snake Plissken more or RJ Macready. Hmm....
- jaadfoo, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Man, I got Duke that way too. That was a looooooong 6-8 weeks.
- Hardataq, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3My tattoo, I'm concerned that some day it will try to take over my whole arm...
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b28/hardataq/Bik ...
(still not finished, just started it a few weeks ago) - deff, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Rasputin wasn't an effective military leader, just an effective douche bag.
- HardSide, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Yikes, except for that Budo character, I had all of those action figures...
- HamSandwich, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3I was about to comment on how dead on this list was.... then I got to Major Bludd. That's just ***** wrong.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3You had to send away for the Fridge. You couldn't buy him in the store, he was like 3 "flag points" (they were like a proof of purchase) plus like $3. Those were the longest 6-8 weeks of a kid's life.
- TheCash, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2Well in my defense, he was supposed to be some kind of high emperor, wasn't he?
I've done my best to erase all of that Cobra-La ***** out of my recollection of the series, so can you blame me for spacing on his proper name? - lostmessiah, on 04/24/2009, -1/+3When I was a kid, I would inevitably get bored of my toys as they were, and would mod them in some way. At some point, I decided it would be fun to take the screw out of the back of my Joe figures and remove random body parts, to simulate horrifying injury. I suppose that was sort of morbid in itself, but it later became positively ghoulish when I began combining the random body parts to make strange Frankenstein-esque Chimera's.
I never named any of them, at least. - hurrayforschool, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2Coulda sworn Cracked already did this exact thing...
- crossmr, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2I grew up in the country in 80s. We had a big yard. Sand box, some small hills in the property. My neighbours had a creek, and every weekend there were yardsales where you could buy GI Joes, for like 25 cents. My parents attic is full of them.
- gmancometh28, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2Did anyone notice the "Get a Fridge action figure" in the bottom left hand corner of Crystal Ball GI Joe?
- Hardataq, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2It was Snow Job
- sanman, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2that's Serpentor, not Cobra Emperor, you goof
but Slaughter also slammed the hell out of that Nemesis Enforcer heavy in GI Joe the Movie
even though his wrestling origins were hokey, his character and voice-acting on the show were pretty decent - sondunoneblood, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2they forgot about snow job
- Philbert, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2This is all I have to say.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlIWSfjYVMc - Tumblyweed, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2You had all the gay ones:P
- heynow21, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2THISSSSS I COMMAND!
God he sucked. - anubis2night, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Budo was great, he had fun accessories and the artwork on the blisterpack was great.
- crossmr, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1all you had to do was watch the damn commercial. He was 5 coupons (4 if you called a number) and cost $1.
- ryanspeck, on 04/28/2009, -0/+1Yes, I did.
I also had 2 Sgt. Slaughters. And Psych-Out. And that retard that had two giant swivelling missles on a backpack.
And people wonder why I have no fondness for G.I. Joe. - shiftkgb, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Crystal Ball looks like the Comedian
- crossmr, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Yeah. They're going to be saying "Do you have any idea what that mess on his arm was before his skin lost all elasticity?"
- crossmr, on 04/25/2009, -1/+2That's gonna be awesome when you're 90.
- smrekar, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Zartan and his color changing?
Purple Snake guy from DeeJay/Muskrat era? he was like 3x the size of a normal joe. - SaltilloPunk, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1I had to laugh about the Footloose card quote. I have been to Venice, FL. and do not recall any boardwalks there. A fishing pier, some beaches and jetties, but no sizable boardwalk. Maybe there was one in the past. This was a good trip down memory lane. I had some of those figures.
- Bootay187, on 04/27/2009, -0/+1I agree. I always hated Serpentor and loved Cobra Commander, even if he was a bumbling idiot most of the time. His voice on the cartoon was awesome too. I hate the way they played him in G.I.Joe The Movie.
Oh and ***** Cobra-La too...that was when G.I.Joe lost it for me. - crossmr, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1Top 10 reasons to use the reply feature:
10. You won't look like an idiot
9. You don't have to waste time typing the name of the guy you're replying to
8. the all have to do with you not being buried for being a tool... - ZenMojo, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1I used to own Dee Jay.... I regret nothing!
- seanof, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1I don't get that joke when I was a kid, but now I wonder how they got away with that name.
- ZenMojo, on 04/25/2009, -0/+1e) Did we mention he was a black man growing up in Boston? Give him the medal of honor.
- punkcat, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1list stunk.
cobra snow patrol? ridiculous because of wearing a coat for arctic weather?
Wild Bill, just because he sung as his hobby?
so many others you could have choosen. - urbanoms, on 04/26/2009, -0/+1Now this is ridiculous ...Remember the PSA's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sJSHA2bGEk - ShugNinx21, on 04/24/2009, -0/+1I had most of the figures on that page and they were ***** bad ass. It was their ridiculously awesome persona's that made them stand out.
G.I. Joes like Grunt paled in comparison to all the crazy insane awesomeness of the more colorful ones. -
