Didn't the submitter realise this was Digg and everyone knows who Klingons are already? - krytz86, on 09/13/2008, -4/+13this sucks, buried

- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -2/+7That comic was lamer than a virgin geek getting turned down by his own left hand.
- jockser, on 09/13/2008, -0/+5Good thing this is down because this is not funny

woops too late - disrupter, on 09/13/2008, -1/+3Boring
- Cargo8, on 09/13/2008, -1/+3Digg Effect FTW!
- 1337Einstein, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1It was a good day for the site to die.
- Bumblebee418, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1Wee I just learned about turing machines!
- samimy, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1many times i told u users, before submitting a new link to digg, first check the bandwidth of the server which contains the link.
u see, those small bandwidths cannot even respond to half of digg users !
or shift the content to a high bandwidth server then submit it to digg !
crap ! over and over again !
digg has to develop some rules for this problem, eg. any link submitted to digg, should be automatically checked by the system, if the bandwidth was not high enough for digg, should be rejected ! - directedition, on 09/13/2008, -2/+3And down in the first round. 106 diggs.
- CrimsonBlur, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1It's not a matter of how much bandwidth the server has going to it. Hosts have bandwidth and CPU quotas. There is no way to know what those are for every site or how close to the bandwidth quota the site is. Of course there is also the possibility that the server itself can't take the load, but again there is no way to know that ahead of time.
Basically all you can do is just submit and hope it can take the Digg effect or that a mirror is created in time. - BoneheadFarker, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1petaQ...
- samimy, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1capacity problems as usual ! nothing else !
- sooska, on 09/13/2008, -0/+1This is digg...why did you feel the need to explain what a Klingon is?
- Culyt, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Goes to show that the Turing test is a horribly inaccurate way of measuring intelligence.
Although there isn't really any other way to check, and you can never tell if a thing is sentient or good at faking it. Although really if its good enough at faking it that we carn't tell then it probably is sentient.
I get the feeling that the Turing test will be passed because people become more like machines rather than the other way around.
Before if you asked for knowledge you would have %90 chance of "I don't know that", not everyone knows the speed of light, the number of electrons in a hydrogen atom or the name for the tip of things on your shoe lases. A computer will have access to all that information instantly, but when everyone has internet access all the time (on mobiles, in their contact lenses or directly in the brain) answers will be a Google away.
People answering such questions will simply be gateways to the internet.
Also lets not forget the majority of the population that spawn entities like YouTube commentators or their real life equivalents. I doubt they could pass the Turing test.
