To all US citizens: Where is your fence? what CREDIBLE threat has been stopped?
And to put it another way: Are there less threats now then before? I think not.
Your government is built around three pools of power: the President, the Congress and the people. Sure your President has the single highest concentration, but its only 1/3 of the pie. Unfortunatly the other 2/3's are doing nothing and letting the president literally get away with murder. - rpi22, on 01/28/2008, -1/+7there's one problem, the fence they are building is a misrepresentation because it doesn't look like it will have huge gaping holes when they are finished...

For one: is safety ever anything other than temporary? As Dickinson notes, if one cannot stop for death, he will stop for you because no day is ever promised to anyone. Likewise, liberty without safety is not liberty at all because you'll be enslaved by your own fears and those who seek to do you harm. Ultimately, in my view, safety and liberty/privacy must keep a delicate balance. Thanks for posting this cartoon.
