- freshyill, on 01/09/2009, -10/+324I remember back when graphs were used to make data easier to understand.
- urbano35, on 01/09/2009, -1/+256Hurts my heart to see IE6 used by so many people. So many windows open at once!
- gethom, on 01/08/2009, -20/+257Go Firefox kill them all
- rwallen, on 01/08/2009, -23/+233Where's my chrome?
- Wandel, on 01/09/2009, -11/+161He's a little too embarrassed of the size of his flag to show up.
- DariusMonsef, on 01/08/2009, -19/+127Umm. Why is Firefox shown as one single version with the biggest share and IE is broken up into 3 versions? Not exactly an unbiased infographic.
- misternils, on 01/09/2009, -6/+105well although it was a fun graph, it makes it 10 times more work to look at the actual data.
- RedHeadedFreak, on 01/09/2009, -38/+108What an awful graph.
- xprojects, on 01/09/2009, -4/+64It's hard to explain, but IE 5, 6 and 7 perform like totally different browsers, and from an information perspective it's valuable to know, considering how big of the market share it has had over the years.
Further, in keeping with the theme, IE has THREE little army guys alive and fighting, everyone else only has one.
It's represented fairly from a web developer's perspective, I think, and seems fairly accurate. - omjeremy, on 01/09/2009, -14/+66A little explanation of the image would help... What an odd image.
- kck724, on 01/09/2009, -12/+58I guess creative, but that graph is ugly as hell IMO.
- TupacFan07, on 01/09/2009, -1/+47Think of the children!
- Wandel, on 01/09/2009, -9/+46Doesn't seem like there's much Opera to touch.
- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/09/2009, -4/+41They could have put Chrome on there. It has more users than Opera as of last month.
http://marketshare.hitslink.com/browser-market-sha ... - JigoroKano, on 01/09/2009, -7/+43If IE 6 & 7 are considered the same, then Mozilla and FF would have to be considered the same as well.
- fahrvergnuugen, on 01/09/2009, -0/+33And IE5 isn't ***** dead yet?!
- KingGorilla, on 01/09/2009, -0/+31It's not how big your flag is. It's how you use it
- DickyT83, on 01/09/2009, -3/+34Poor AOL.
- companionsphere, on 01/09/2009, -7/+36yeah! chrome's my default. Chrome ftw. :)
- omjeremy, on 01/09/2009, -0/+27Mozilla and Firefox are different browsers. Or at least there were two of them. Mozilla isn't being developed anymore.
- PhantomPhoenix, on 01/09/2009, -3/+28He has more serfs than Opera as of last month.
http://marketshare.hitslink.com/browser-market-sha ... - MicrosoftAccess, on 01/09/2009, -10/+34Except Opera, no one can touch Opera.
- freshyill, on 01/09/2009, -1/+25If you made web sites, you'd understand.
- Ericdigital, on 01/09/2009, -0/+23That's actually not a bad number considering the length of time it has been out isn't all that long
- Khast, on 01/09/2009, -2/+25Meh...I hated everything AOL....those damn CDs, AIM, and their browser.
Hell, their CDs were like viruses, you could break it up into millions of bits, and it would still install! And you didn't even have to put it in the CD drive, you just had to bring it within a 3' radius of your computer! /s
Seriously, the only thing which I though was actually the most awesome thing about AOL. I got a free blank 3 1/2" disk in the mail every couple days!!! (Oh and those CD tins) - Murdats, on 01/09/2009, -0/+21firefox is based off mozilla which branched from netscape.
- Donotsurf, on 01/09/2009, -1/+20.png FTW
- idavidtang, on 01/09/2009, -1/+19Poor Netscape, so persistent but still failed in the end.
- xprojects, on 01/09/2009, -1/+18If you think that's confusing look at this stupid thing I found in upcoming:
http://digg.com/business_finance/Capital_Gains_Wha ... - PxCxG, on 01/09/2009, -5/+22Worst visual presentation of data ever?
- angrycat, on 01/09/2009, -0/+17I love how they show old browsers as corpses that just spontaneously dropped dead.
- ligyron, on 01/09/2009, -2/+19This image was probably made before Chrome came out
- manitoba98xp, on 01/09/2009, -0/+15It's actually worse than this suggests. W3Schools' data is based on hits to their site, which is a resource for developers (especially web developers), who are far more likely to use Firefox than the average user. IE still has a majority market share (FF is at 20%, from what I recall, and IE is at 70% or so).
- necromancer, on 01/09/2009, -0/+15There weren't browsers before 2002?
- HigherLogic, on 01/09/2009, -0/+14Obviously, because Opera 9 isn't even on there. And Opera's flag should be going back much, much longer.
- onedeep, on 01/09/2009, -0/+14Because if you have ever watched web stats, within a month of a new version being released, even something as big as 2.x to 3.x, v2 moves to negligible numbers.
On the other hand, IE6 still has 30% of the market share in some websites. - Murdats, on 01/09/2009, -0/+13well at the time it wasnt firefox.
it used to be mozilla phoenix till they got in trouble with phoenix technologies, so they changed it to firebird but that upset the firebird database project guys so now its firefox.
I started using it in the late days of phoenix, it has come a long way. - XxUNDEROATHxX, on 01/09/2009, -4/+17serfs? he had slaves from the middle ages?
- Plopfish, on 01/09/2009, -0/+13Competition is good it makes them all strive to be better. Kill more, but not all.
- xprojects, on 01/09/2009, -2/+14Loosely, it's more of a legacy thing.
- HigherLogic, on 01/09/2009, -1/+13This image is old, which is why it only lists Opera 7/8, when Opera is nearing version 10 now.
- marshallpeck, on 01/09/2009, -3/+15Your mom sucks.
- drewhoo, on 01/09/2009, -0/+11Interestingly, this graph was actually made for Reddit. http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/7o963/the_br ...
- AutoTom, on 01/09/2009, -0/+11most of the peope that use IE6 cant handle more than 1 window open at a time..
- Rfriaz, on 01/09/2009, -1/+12Mozilla used to be its own browser, and Firefox was considered the quicker, compact brother. I used to use it until I realized I was an idiot.
- konataXchan, on 01/09/2009, -2/+13There is 2 main reasons:
1. Internet Explorer is default browser in Windows OS.
2. It has the name 'Internet' and 'explorer' in it. To the average user they know IE is how they browse the web for porn and email. Firefox to the average user still sounds funny like the Nintendo Wii did when it first came out. - seventoes, on 01/09/2009, -1/+12That's what she said
- ruretarded, on 01/09/2009, -6/+16it's actually well done. at any given time point, the relative proportion b/t each color represent their market share (percentage).
the game civilization uses this in its "histogram" that depict each civilization's relative size. - Murdats, on 01/09/2009, -1/+11it is shrinking though
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 01/09/2009, -1/+11Mozilla = Mozilla Application Suite: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Application_S ...
