- 1ncu3us, on 08/10/2008, -5/+108It's not an original image.. He just drew this
http://media.techeblog.com/images/robotarts_1.jpg - holyskeleton, on 08/09/2008, -6/+77dugg for royalty free music that sounds pretty good.
- Diggelichous, on 08/10/2008, -1/+67Yes this is correct :)
In fact, the text I have written on Metacafe about the drawing also says this:
The image is originally created by a 3D artist called André Kutscherauer and is absolutely unique and highly creative. It’s a picture about self-fulfillment. “All our lifetime we aspire to get the ultimate self-fulfillment. But if we get there - the sense of life is gone. The way itself is the aim! Life is like the probe for a theatre play that never happens...” – he says.
but here on digg there wasn’t room for all that in the description. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain it though :) Hope people read this comment. I cannot take credit for the theme in this drawing, only for transforming it into traditional art my hand with a pencil :) - MADWORLD4, on 08/09/2008, -10/+52Amazing talent you have there! Damn it, it was fun :) 20 hours!!! Drawing really take a long time... good thing you speeded up the process! I think this deserves a digg !
- WNxArrakis, on 08/10/2008, -1/+26To be correct, its not a speed drawing. It's a sped up drawing. Speed drawing involves doing the best you can, and being creative about it, in the shortest timespan available - often 20 minutes to an hour.
Not that it's bad - just would confuse people if they started looking for 'speed drawing' on youtube.
Edit: Think of it like a Time Trial in a game. It's not perfection, it's speed. - lazycat, on 08/10/2008, -1/+23I am sure I saw this picture before.
- irfanmp, on 08/09/2008, -3/+20Agreed. That music sounded really good and went really well with the speed drawing.
- Lhakrots, on 08/10/2008, -14/+27dugg down, this isn't speed drawing, an original drawing, or anything. At best it's someone practicing their eye at copying an image.
- inactive, on 08/09/2008, -8/+20brillant..

"I am sure I saw this picture before."....
reply:
"Yes this is correct :)

But amazing I wish I had that kind of talent.
- cynicalbrit94, on 08/10/2008, -4/+14The drawing is excellent, and I want a light bulb like that. You could have it be battery powered, and will follow you around (little tracking device) and avoid walls with a system of lasers. When low on charge, It will walk back to its programmed plug socket. People, get inventing.

- Diggelichous, on 08/10/2008, -2/+11Thank you for the compliments! its a great program for the ones who are interested in making music, but haven't got the time to master more known programs like Fruity loops (FL studio).
- werries, on 08/10/2008, -4/+11....butt plug?

- tcpip4lyfe, on 08/10/2008, -1/+7A+++++ would recommend!!!!!!
- alpharaptor, on 08/10/2008, -1/+6thanks, i was waiting for someone to post the reference
- kujo740, on 08/10/2008, -3/+8What's with all these ads popping up in videos now?
- chestyle, on 08/09/2008, -6/+11Yeah, liked it too, kudos for the artist.
- maheshee11, on 08/09/2008, -7/+12Very nice drawing!
- kylerk, on 08/10/2008, -2/+6I can't give this guy any credit for what he is doing. Yes, it takes hours and hours to be a human photocopier and make these images, but without giving any credit to the original artist who made the original image, this is cut and dry plagiarism.
Please stop congratulating and applauding this type of practice.
There is a fine line in art between copying someones work and being inspired by there work. I think the moment that "The-Artist" simply copied the underlying idea of the original work, he crossed that line. He didn't express himself with this art, just re-expressed the ideas of the original artist.
And before anyone can call me out for being a pretentious art student: I am a pretentious art student. - sildude, on 08/10/2008, -1/+5why do you think he traced it?
- Millsee, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4Right, go off and do something better, and post it here.
Watch this space everyone >.> - africanboy23, on 08/10/2008, -2/+6original or not, doesn't stop me wishing i could draw like that...
- maximatron, on 08/10/2008, -1/+4Looks like Chibi-robo :)
- hotpuck6, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3Cool drawing none-the-less, but it's hard to believe it took 20 hours. i mean imagine if you spent 2 and a half work days just sitting there drawing....i would never have the patience for it.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 08/10/2008, -2/+5Buried for shizzle
- PsychoDesigns, on 08/10/2008, -4/+7Too bad the idea it self is not original...
http://kutsche.deviantart.com/art/Selfillumination ...
Its pretty popular
Plus thats not speed drawing.. its time lapse.. speed drawing means it was originally drawn fast.. 20 hours is not fast... - Enigmocracy, on 08/10/2008, -1/+4No.
- Diggelichous, on 08/10/2008, -3/+6ahahaha excellent! thanks for the comment :)
- DefaultGen, on 08/10/2008, -2/+5I suspect this video was sped up.
- inactive, on 08/09/2008, -5/+8I really like it the drawing shows that you have a great talent.
- inactive, on 08/09/2008, -4/+7I agree. I do like the music. Nicely done.
- Beevo, on 08/10/2008, -2/+5Why do these continue to be called Speed Drawing or Speed Painting? The description says "About the drawing: Over 20 hours of drawing!!!". Hardly what I'd call speed, it was just normal drawing sped up to make watching it less painful.
But other than the stupid label, the video was cool. The artist is talented and the concept cool. - notmiya, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3Way to be a Debbie Downer
- kylerk, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3Opps, i guess credit was given. I still don't feel this art is any where near as fantastic as the comments on digg lead people to believe.
And yes, I do draw from other artists work. I draw in public places, at museums, at art gallery, from nature, I go to the zoo, I draw from photographs and film, and I have even been to a gross anatomy lab to draw.
The difference is that I have actually been looking at the stuff I have been drawing and gaining a better understanding of drawing. The type of drawing shown in this work is exceedingly limited because it only demonstrates copying of flat 2 dimensional tone. It is a much different experience copying things from 3d dimensions and putting it onto the page. And this type of copying is pretty much a was of time. The artist is just developing bad technique that won't help him make original art in the future.
When drawing it is fairly common knowledge that to produce a good image it is important to start with a very general image and work into the details. The artist simply starts with the details and works out, I wouldn't suggest this technique to anyone else. - nitesoIja, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2its funny because its not his idea, it was made by some other dude in cgi... which was way better anyways
- ritubpant, on 08/09/2008, -8/+10Awesome, brilliant....umm what else? Help me out with words here
- airwalkery2k, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2European sockets!
- zarcu, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3Creative. Its cool how you did it in steps. You could have a few variations of the same picture.
- sinembarg0, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2If we were in prison, I'd protect you in the shower.
- hawk3210, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2I don't know man. Doesn't look to be sped up to me...
- fearsofgun, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2The original is from a digital artwork by André Kutscherauer
http://ak3d.de/ - Rekutyn, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2I think you're being a little overly aggressive in your criticism. But I have to agree with you on his technique: starting with basic shapes and drawing in details is standard, this guy's method is suspect. It almost leads me to believe that there's some sort of tracing-paper/camera work going on that we can't see which is projecting the intended image onto the paper in a way that can be erased with a simple contrast & brightness adjustment in post-production.
- Hollowpoint, on 08/10/2008, -3/+5My god are you ***** retarded? Read the thing under the goddamn picture you turd gobbling cum dumpster.
- tmccool, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1as an art student, you're telling me that you've never gone to your local museum and drawn from any of the sculptures in it? what kind of an art school do you go to? the person in this video is copying to exercise his drawing skill... its the same concept whether you are drawing from the old masters or from a more recent 3D artist. this guy found a picture he liked, and then he drew it with accuracy. he doesn't have to create his own stuff 100% of the time. even abstract artists draw realistically throughout their careers... if they don't have that solid foundation in realism, how can they expect to successfully carry our their abstractions?
