- anxdiety, on 03/07/2009, -0/+11Someone let me know when they have Hentai instruction manuals. I'd love to see the instruction manual for that new HDTV and stereo system have tentacles rather than wires.

or.. it was.

- RunawayElf, on 03/07/2009, -0/+4A good teaching tool is one that can adapt to it's current situation (pop culture) and still get the material across. Not all change is bad. If it helps some people, just be glad they're learning something.
- DouglasQ, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3Actually, "One Piece and Naruto are mangas" is correct.
'manga' is a Japanese word and the Japanese don't pluralise (for the most part). -but we've adopted the word 'manga' into English, so English rules apply. You would for example, pluralise 'katana' as 'katanas'.
"mangas" is correct, and "manga" is correct as well. - jo21, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2someone send the calculus one and physics it would been useful 2 years ago.
- Philbert, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2There's no S in manga.
- bat-21, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2Cartoonist Larry Gonick has been doing the same thing for nearly 20 years now. His works so far:
-Cartoon Guide to Chemistry
-Cartoon Guide to Statistics
-Cartoon Guide to Physics
-Cartoon Guide to Genetics
-Cartoon Guide to the Environment
-Cartoon Guide to the Computer
-Cartoon Guide to Sex - boombye, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2Yes I believe you're right, when there is more than one "manga" you don't pluralize it with the letter "S" as it still remains manga...Example, "I read all the one piece manga out so far" or "You sure do read a lot of manga"
- boombye, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2Why not?
- inactive, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1Okay, I digg wise-ass commenting and all, and it's cool to know they make comments to *****, I guess...but this seriously does not belong on FP.
- Philbert, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1Yes, Japanese has no plural S. Granted, my Japanese was never fantastic but...
Manga wa chiisai desu - Manga are small (general, plural)
Sono manga wa chiisai desu - That manga is small. (specific, singular) - boombye, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1Manga and anime have always been used as teaching tools, I can't count the number of animes based on historical settings or persons for decades.
- DarthLamp, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1What is this I don't even
- boombye, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1It's pretty damn coherent to me. It says something about a line of mangas that covers quite a range of geek related topics being translated into english and brought to america via No Starch Press......Maybe it's incoherent to you because you don't know what "manga" is.
- nemo75001, on 03/09/2009, -0/+0I found more.

Fourier transform...? - ThatsNotPoetry, on 03/07/2009, -1/+1I can understand it, but I still really hate it. Mostly I'm biased against the way anime has invaded absolutely everything--even teaching tools.
- Tyler0, on 03/09/2009, -0/+0Hey, if you'd like to read the first chapters of these books, we have them up on Scribd.com. You can also download them as PDFs from there.

Tyler, the editor - X9001, on 03/07/2009, -2/+2Since the description is barely coherent I doubt the article is any better
- AManWithNoName, on 03/07/2009, -6/+3Okay, I digg manga and all, and it's cool to know they make manga guides to *****, I guess...but this seriously does not belong on FP.
- diskit, on 03/07/2009, -6/+2You know what they really need?
The Manga Guide to Getting Laid. - ThatsNotPoetry, on 03/07/2009, -10/+1We have tons of these in the library where I work. It's really insulting. What, people can learn anything anymore if it isn't wrapped in their most obsessive pop culture?
