- blazingbunny, on 12/13/2008, -11/+50is it funny because he's wrong or because he is comparing himself to a goldfish?? Either way not really that funny...
- autobulb, on 12/13/2008, -1/+39This particular comic makes more sense if you're a regular reader of We The Robots. Bob, the orange dad robot, works in a cubicle doing mundane tasks day after day. He realizes that this existence is pointless and the cause of much depression and misery. However, his few attempts to change from this lifestyle have left him lost, afraid, or just unwilling to adapt to a more spontaneous and freegoing way of living. So as other diggers have pointed out, he is comparing himself to the fish. Born into captivity doing the same meaningless tasks day after day. If you were to free the fish however, into a lake or a pond, it would probably be unable to locate its own food or defend itself, just like Bob. And for you dull readers, the punchline is that he doesn't really know anything about fish, it just seems that way because he's just talking about himself which he knows alot about ; D

- superdigg, on 12/13/2008, -9/+30uhhh.. I get it, but it's not funny or clever... ? this is awkward.
- Needles13, on 12/13/2008, -4/+23But he's not a fish and he doesn't live in a bowl. He appears to be an intelligent robot that can move freely with no real restrictions. If he has the programming to act as a father as well as take care of fish I assume he has the type of programming that allows him to learn and evolve. If he has all this, why does he not do anything useful or exciting? It's his own fault for acting like this fish. Maybe I just don't get this comic...
- rdvon, on 12/13/2008, -2/+21The orange dude (the dad) sees a bit of himself in the fish. This is taken into account on the last comment he makes, after the kid says "wow dad! you sure know a lot about fishes!"
- TMTurtle, on 12/13/2008, -3/+15Methinks someone is projecting themselves onto a goldfish.
- superc0w, on 12/13/2008, -1/+12you must not be married, have a career, or live on your own....
- ScottMcIntyre, on 12/13/2008, -15/+26It all sounds a bit fishy to me! ;-)

- rubberbandage, on 12/13/2008, -4/+12It’s an Onion article, I know, but it’s relevant and may help anyone who actually doesn’t understand this comic by driving the same point home over and over again… wait, that doesn’t help anyone on the internet.
Oh well: http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28624 - flangepiece, on 12/13/2008, -0/+8Where I live, that's illegal.
- newtondave, on 12/13/2008, -1/+9I can tell you made a joke because you winked at the end.
- chrisaug18, on 12/13/2008, -3/+10Yeah, I still don't get it either
- kikibun, on 12/13/2008, -1/+8Its not meant to be fall out of your chair laughing humor. Its more of a philosophical joke about life.
- BullHunter, on 12/13/2008, -8/+15These robots don't know to much. Anyone can see that is a Babel Fish

- sx66gns, on 12/14/2008, -0/+5I don't get it , please explain.
- ebound, on 12/13/2008, -2/+7Did Digg break it?
- dfsjdkflasjk, on 12/14/2008, -0/+4Why am I reading this comic? It's not remotely funny, ironic, edgy, or anything in between.
- theshalit, on 12/13/2008, -6/+9The nice thing about this comic is that it wont sacrifice a message for a gag. Some people will only approve of a comic if it gives them a laugh but I don't think it's as shallow a medium as that
http://www.wetherobots.com/2008/04/23/warm-sunny-d ... - rdvon, on 12/13/2008, -4/+7I for one, liked this comic.
- flangepiece, on 12/13/2008, -1/+4I can tell you finished your sentence because you put a full stop at the end.

- scrotrot, on 12/15/2008, -0/+1stupid.
- thumperings, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1Or he's an introvert, and life passed him by. married or not. yea yea he's a robot but the whole robot thing was used to illustrate life.
- crossmr, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1You're a dirty rotten liar.
- RMoore08, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1Whats with the digging down? He feels like he can only eat when his wife cooks, and she never lets him do anything, so he feels confined, and without his wife, he wouldn't know how to survive...
- Roshz, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1lolfishy!
- inactive, on 12/14/2008, -1/+2Personally I think this is the best comic I've ever read on digg. Its not funny becasue its not supposed to be funny. Its depressing. My interpretation is that the Dad robot is comparing his life (and possibly everyone in modern society) to the fishes. At first this seems silly but if you actually think about it, he makes sense. The fish swims around all day, gets fed then eventually dies. Living a completely pointless life. The robot dude gos to work everyday, does the same thing, comes home and then ultimately waste his life away being part of the system. If they released the fish back into the sea it would die because it wouldnt know how to survive in the wild. Likewise if the Robot guy was to go back to nature and be free he wouldnt survive. THUS he has to continuing living his pointless exsistence wasting away.
- inactive, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1I've always seen the comics as painfully unfunny.
- themusicalduck, on 12/13/2008, -0/+1Cheers for that, it makes a lot more sense now.
- eamonman, on 12/14/2008, -0/+1That's an above average Onion article. They got a lot out of that initial premise gag. Usually Onion articles try to overstretch a one-joke idea, (sometimes it's funny when it seems to be on purpose, but oftentimes they are tiresome) .
As for the comic; oiniony but it was just one quick flavor. -
