- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -15/+53I've never read house of leaves... :(
Also why are people burying XKCD now-a-days. Is this gonna be the new trend on Digg now. We find something good, make it popular or increase it's popularity, then toss it aside?
And I know, I know "I have an RSS feed for XKCD, i have it bookmarked, i have blah blah" but you see...we Diggions, love to share what's funny/serious with everyone else to see what comments are posted. (At least that's what I do anyway) The fact that a select few have put it into peoples heads that mass burying is just fine and dandy is a retarded concept.
Oh snap I just stuck up for XKCD....Time to get buried by the same single minded bellends who burying this as a duplicate just so it won't hit the front page.
P.s ***** digg comment box pulsating. - xMotu, on 09/05/2008, -3/+28Without Digg, I would have never have gotten this reference.
- dashdingo, on 09/05/2008, -2/+21Holy *****, that book changed my life.
Dugg for the awesome reference. - MrM4nager, on 09/05/2008, -3/+21...Yeah, right over my head
- Larken, on 09/05/2008, -2/+16If I ever rent a storage unit and open it to find pancakes, I'm going to ***** my pants.
- Aggrocragg, on 09/05/2008, -4/+18Parodied elements (at least the major ones):
1) Multiple levels of narrative (shown here with multiple fonts)
2) Sideways and upside down text
3) Copious footnotes
4) Crazy rantings
5) "House" in blue font
6) Redactions
Brilliant parody of a masterpiece. If you ever need a good ***** or just want to be scared *****, this is the book for you. - Jordan117, on 09/05/2008, -4/+13For anybody wondering what this is supposed to be about:

It really is a great book, an excellent piece of modern horror. - xsecretfiles, on 09/05/2008, -1/+8what book?
- Ragzouken, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Buried as inaccurate. It should read:
'Buried as inaccurate. In my opinion it should read:
"My opinion is that XKCD SUCKS"' - MrM4nager, on 09/05/2008, -1/+6ALANIS!!!
- cquilliam, on 09/05/2008, -2/+6I used to hate xkcd making it to the front page at least 3 times a week. But, it has become beneficial because there are several of them that I don't get the references, and digg explains that to me.
- lamiaconfitor, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4Both, I imagine. If you have read the book you would understand.
- PrismoFillusion, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4Almost every post on Digg is an opinion. Does everyone need to clarify this before every post?
- jeremyduffy, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4I totally didn't get it since I know nothing of the "house of leaves". However, the previous comic about furries was awesome :D
- FolkTheory, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3wow. best xkcd in a long time!
- lamiaconfitor, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3Nightmares again. I wake up covered in sweat, and what seems to be a thin sheen of maple syrup.
- lamiaconfitor, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4read that book, seriously. It is awesome.
http://www.amazon.com/House-Leaves-Mark-Z-Danielew ... - Endrian, on 09/05/2008, -5/+7Dugg for the shared experience of waking up covered in sweat and a thin sheen of maple syrup.
- lamiaconfitor, on 09/05/2008, -4/+6I love that book!
- jjhuddle, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2XKCD redeemed itself for a week with this one. I think they read digg and see how ***** everyone thinks they are.
- TreatsTheBear, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2Apparently I was too drunk to look at all the links to the book that they were referencing. My apologies.
I haven't read the book, so I don't know how you all are reacting to this comic, but I have to think my first reaction - thinking that he came up with this all on his own - was probably way more mind blowing than whatever you all got out of it and certainly more than how I experience it now.
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. - Sle3per, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2House of Leaves
- DickyT83, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2Even after reading a few reviews, I still can't comprehend what brings a horror aspect to it? I guess it's something you just have to pick up and experience.
- thegrantman, on 09/05/2008, -5/+7Looks like I found a new book to read.
- polalion, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4It's the bury brigade! Run!
- DickyT83, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2You know something, you suck.
- bonk2k, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1I don't give a ***** about what you said other than that you haven't read House of Leaves. ***** read that book now!
- Chocobot, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Damn, someone edited the House of Leaves entry fast :O
- BKred, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2What I love are the people who are COMPLETELY SURPRISED that every xkcd gets dugg every day one gets put up. Welcome to digg?
- krytz86, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2word up my *****
- TKn00b, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2you loooooose you learn
- bonk2k, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1That's whats awesome about it. You read it and you don't exactly know why you're scared. You'll walk around your house at night looking over your shoulder. it just stays with you.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2Yes it does.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1I'd never even HEARD of XKCD before I joined Digg last December. I'm glad I joined Digg because I've been able to see some of the funniest things on the Internet (LOLCATS OMG!) and some of the saddest...(LOLCATS OMG!)
But yeah, if it wasn't for those competition submitters, I would never have known about XKCD.
I don't exactly google the phrase "Maths humour" - MrM4nager, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Why is his penis out?
- Vimmy, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1u suk lol
- Pzycho, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Then you get Loves.
- DeathJux, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Dude, you have a problem with CAT?
- Capta1nA, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1*****, now I have to read it again. Anybody own multiple copies besides me?
- Beevo, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1I bury anything that routinely makes it to the front page. If I wanted to ready XKCD, and I do, I'd put it on my RSS feed and read them as they come out...or just memorize that they come out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If I wanted to read Cracked and yet another top 10, 15, or 20 list, and I don't, I'd bookmark the page. If I found the Onion funny more often than stupid, and I don't, I might visit their site.
I don't need Digg to tell me about websites that I already know about, that's not what it should be about to me, it should be about finding that hidden gem and bringing it out into the light where it belongs. - ecidnac, on 09/05/2008, -6/+6I'm actually reading "House of Leaves" right now. Still burying for being XKCD on Digg.
- byzantium, on 09/05/2008, -0/+0The real question is how many heads this comic went over. House of Leaves was amazing. Only Revolutions was not as good.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1hmmmm, I don't think that /in before counts if you're one of the posts you said you are /in before.
- sap959, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1no thanks, i just had a bad shell fish sandwich
- Zipko, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1***** waffles
- diecastbeatdown, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1i like the movie 40 year old virgin, however the reference is totally irrelevant here.
- phyzixphairy, on 09/05/2008, -0/+0Why do people feel the need to assert that everything /they/ like that doesn't get 5k diggs was prevented sheerly by the conspiratorial efforts of an unenlightened few?
If you even bothered to read the site which you feel needs font page coverage so you can get commentary on it, you would have seen a link titled "Forum." If you followed this link, you would find a magical place where people talk about XKCD. Check the Individual XKCD Comics thread to read all discussion of this and previous comics. You even get commentary from the author himself. Wow! - wontstoptalking, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1Enough with your god damn pancakes!
- cmsjustin, on 09/05/2008, -1/+1Now I'm curious what the joke from 1997 was.
- IG64, on 09/05/2008, -0/+0That's not what I'm implying. I found his comment objectionable, and I could have simply said "no it doesn't," but that didn't seem very effective, since that was only my opinion. On reflection, I realized that what I really found objectionable with his comment was not his opinion, but rather that he was stating his opinion as fact; therefore, I pointed it out in this particular case for effect.
