- somedudemanguy, on 11/20/2008, -50/+1099Digg this if you think Calvin and Hobbes is the best cartoon strip ever.
- TheDHC, on 11/20/2008, -1/+483Calvin and Hobbes = autodugg
- sailadayaway, on 11/20/2008, -0/+381It's a magical world, Hobbes ol' buddy. Let's go exploring.
I miss this comic so much. - kabifff, on 11/20/2008, -1/+289I used to stay up all night reading the Essential Calvin and Hobbes when I was 6!
- thewhits, on 11/20/2008, -2/+176Greatest comic strip ever. I cried when he stopped writing these, and I can't believe that it's been 13 years since Calvin and Hobbes went away. Bill Watterson is a genius.
- GoodbyeHorses87, on 11/20/2008, -3/+166i used to be obsessed with garfield, then i discovered calvin and hobbes. i ***** hate garfield now.
- sailadayaway, on 11/20/2008, -3/+145Ugh, I want to digg you down for abusing C&H, but I can't turn my back on them...
- dagnabbit, on 11/20/2008, -0/+125This meeting of G.R.O.S.S. has come to order.
- JCPahl, on 11/20/2008, -0/+81Watterson has major principles. I think that's one of the reasons C&H was so good; he really believed in what he was doing, and his integrity and insight shone through his work. It was never about money to him; it was art. And when he decided he had said all he had to say, he stopped (regardless of the fact that the strip was then at the height of its popularity). He didn't drag it on for the cash; he ended it on his terms. I'll always miss Calvin and Hobbes.
- rknowles10, on 11/20/2008, -1/+79Calvin & Hobbes is the pinnacle of the cartoon strip. I received the complete Calvin & Hobbes set for Christmas two years ago...what an amazing gift.
On another note, I can't stand the rampant misuse of Calvin as a decal on seemingly every redneck vehicle. I especially love seeing the decals of Calvin kneeling or pissing on everything "Un-American" and praying in front of a cross next to the "Git R Dun!!" logo.. Because Calvin was such a Gun Totin', Truck lovin', Neo-Conservative; with all that deep, intelligent philosophy on life and the love of all things science.
It's hard for me not to go on a tangent in the car every time I see that kind of *****. - MeatMountain, on 11/20/2008, -1/+68I used to read these collections sometimes during study hall in middle school during the early 90s. Every once in a while I would laugh out loud and everyone would look up from their books like WTF. Everyone hated me.
- acroyear2, on 11/20/2008, -0/+64Digg is the unofficial G.R.O.S.S. for sure.
- bwjacket, on 11/20/2008, -6/+65Calvin really hates the auto industry. I see him peeing on all their logos.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+59Calvin is the six year old we wish we all were, while Hobbes is the friend we all wish we'd had.
- gd1z, on 11/20/2008, -0/+54Props to him for not selling out though.
- AegisC, on 11/20/2008, -0/+47I think I remember reading in the books where he'd write pages of commentary, he thought that doing that sort of thing cheapened the value of the strip. Didn't stop a bunch of people from just using C&H without permission though.
- AegisC, on 11/20/2008, -0/+45Let me just say as compliment: regardless of the fact that you are probably somewhere around 95 years old or older, you are still sharp as a tack.
Oh, maybe that was a typo - danielrh9, on 11/20/2008, -0/+44Here's a full searchable database of every Calvin and Hobbes strip ever:

"Booger" might be a good place to start. - indubitably, on 11/20/2008, -0/+42bill watterson = man of integrity
- indubitably, on 11/20/2008, -0/+41perfect ending. i'm glad i had the presence of mind to save and frame the final printing from my local paper.
- Wakuko, on 11/20/2008, -0/+37"Tigers will do anything for a tuna sandwich"
First one got me hooked forever... - DjOverEZ, on 11/20/2008, -1/+34"Definitely Jim Davis. Garfield's comedy is always cutting edge, and Davis stays fresh while everyone else gets stale."
No. - censorshipwreck, on 11/20/2008, -3/+36Dugg down for sounding like a teenage cheerleader in my head.
- thefandango, on 11/20/2008, -0/+30i would pay big dollars for a stuffed Hobbes (either how calvin sees him or in plain stuffed tiger form)
- juxtapunch, on 11/20/2008, -1/+30So much better than regular garfield: http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/
- hawkdude56, on 11/20/2008, -0/+29One of his best comics, and the saddest. Dugg for one of my favorite quotes ever.
- twishart, on 11/20/2008, -0/+28DIGG GROUP HUG
- bigstinky, on 11/20/2008, -0/+27My all-time favorite strip.
Does anyone know the website that has the entire collection posted? I remember it was once on digg's front page.
I would love to be able to buy the entire compendium, but that puppy aint cheap. I've given the books I do have to my 76 year old son, and he's taken up right where I left off.
The art, the humor, the wit...untouchable. - eagee, on 11/20/2008, -1/+27Bill Watterson actually lives a few blocks away from me in Cleveland Heights. I've always wanted to meet him and thank him for all those happy memories. My son has recently gotten into Calvin and Hobbes, and consequently has oft decided it would be a good idea to re-enact his favorite strips. It turns out, that there's a reason Calvins parents are always yelling at him :].For a while there we had to banish C&H from the house.
- serif69, on 11/20/2008, -0/+26The courageous Spaceman Spiff, interplanetary explorer extraodrinaire, lands on yet another bizarre planet! Setting his death ray blaster on "frappe", our hero sets off in search of alien weirdness!
Man, I miss Calvin and Hobbes. *goes home to read the complete collection* - jordanisj, on 11/20/2008, -1/+27You didn't even read the article, did you?
- badenglishihave, on 11/20/2008, -1/+25Older Garfield (pre 1985ish) is actually pretty intelligent and funny. The new stuff sucks though; Jim Davis should have quit 15 years ago.
- gd1z, on 11/20/2008, -0/+23Happy anniversary to the greatest comic strip ever made!
- AndrewDB, on 11/20/2008, -3/+26Dugg for the fact that it's Calvin and Hobbes, and for the fact that the person knew it'd make the front page of Digg a day late.
- KyleGoetz, on 11/20/2008, -0/+22Get Rid Of Slimy girlS! I'd forgotten about that!
- RubineBoy, on 11/20/2008, -0/+22Greetings from planet zork!
- matt.rubin, on 11/20/2008, -0/+22hell every once in awhile i bust out the huge comic books of C and H I have and spend a hour reading it.
- crazyhorse13, on 11/20/2008, -0/+22*tear
- twishart, on 11/20/2008, -0/+22As long as I'm king and tyrant.
*****, I could wander around this thread all day and just quote *****. - surian, on 11/20/2008, -0/+20Gotta give you props for going out on a limb like that and saying what we're all thinking.
- maexn, on 11/20/2008, -4/+23http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3498761/3_695_Calv ...
have fun. - surian, on 11/20/2008, -2/+20Yeah... That's why I'm digging YOU up instead.
- jakobmakob, on 11/20/2008, -0/+17Every time I hear that line, I get a knot in my throat. Just a testament to how excellent this comic was and is.
- KyleGoetz, on 11/20/2008, -0/+16Screw you. You just made me BAWWW
- alexkball, on 11/20/2008, -0/+16The last strip of Calvin and Hobbes, published December 31, 1995. If my childhood officially ended on any single day, this was it.
http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Gallery/1961/last_ch ... - OsiVert, on 11/20/2008, -0/+16Can I be the dictator for life?
- Zomgondo, on 11/20/2008, -0/+16Every time I see either of those on a car I think "there's another idiot who just doesn't get it." Especially the one with the cross... I always imagine he's praying for his parents to disappear, and he'll be back later to shake his fist at it while Hobbes gets nostalgic about the Romans feeding Christians to the lions and wondering if they go better with mayo or bbq sauce.
- KingBabi, on 11/20/2008, -1/+17It's blatant sarcasm.
- tEhKewleSt, on 11/20/2008, -1/+17You digg whore...
- ridd1e, on 11/20/2008, -1/+16C&H is also Cyanide & Happiness. Funny coincidence or I have no idea about either.
