I like Superman Returns for what it was, but what it was was not what should have been released.

Reading superman comics or watching tv shows and movies, Superman is constantly overpowered while most of his villains are not that interesting. Because he only has 2 real weaknesses (Kryptonite and Magic) it seems like every plotline including him has to have something new made up just to get things moving. The mythology of superman (especially as described by Bill at the end of Kill Bill 2) is really interesting and compelling, but when put into actual situations he's never been able to hold my attention.

For a concrete example, it's always said that Batman's "true face" is the batman mask (e.g., Rachel's speech at the end of Batman Begins); there's nothing so unique about Superman.

I mean if you think about it, at the age Bruce is supposed to be... his return could help make some sense of his ability. But honestly? I ***** doubt it. Normally his storyline escape the mass dumbass crossover destruction unless its the the Batverse. Not anymore. So wtf wtf wtf. Bring me back Bruce damnit. He's got the best rogue's gallery in comics and the dynamic ONLY works with him.
