- fluidfoundation, on 08/14/2008, -1/+57I hope its better than when Wash got washed.
- warispeace21, on 08/15/2008, -1/+55***** you Fox!!!
- vich11, on 08/14/2008, -1/+49Nice. Ron Glass' character was the biggest mystery/tease on the show. Looking forward to finally seeing his backstory.
- Striss, on 08/14/2008, -1/+46Finally, I've been wondering where he got those strawberries.
- aethere, on 08/14/2008, -4/+46Sweet. Screw Fox, just release the rest of what you had planed for season two Firefly as comics.
- maxtangent, on 08/15/2008, -2/+27Gorrammit! Where's our trilogy??
http://www.bedlambards.com/Browncoats.html
They said we couldn't do it,
They said our show should die,
They took our love, they took our land,
They cancelled our Firefly.
But one thing they didn't reckon,
in our fan psychology:
Browncoats carry Greenbacks,
And we want our trilogy! - computerdemon, on 08/15/2008, -1/+23Did anyone else cry?
- maxtangent, on 08/15/2008, -0/+20There was a garden at the abbey...
- Brusimm, on 08/14/2008, -0/+17Book is one of those enigma's I've just come to accept I'll never know anything about... until now!
- Paulish, on 08/15/2008, -0/+16I remember when I bough the collectors edition DVD someone called me "Quaint", because I did not pirate it. It irritated me. So what if I want to PAY for movies, are you really going to give me a hard time about it? /rant
- xxyglx, on 08/15/2008, -0/+14At this point, I guess I'll be happy to get anything I can. Hope to live long enough to see sequels of both the Firefly series, and Serenity. Of all the flicks I've enjoyed during my 70+ years here, this franchise is by far my favorite.
- psbpv3o, on 08/15/2008, -1/+15That would be lame....
I say use the profits from Dr. Horribles Sing-a-long, and release Firefly season 2 online, far-fetched?, sure, but it would kick ass. - etruscan, on 08/15/2008, -0/+14Anyone who doesn't read this is going to burn in a very special level of hell.
- adml_shake, on 08/15/2008, -0/+14Ahh Firefly, this decades version of Space: Above and beyond. Both being fantastic shows that were royally ***** over by fox.
- sdcarter, on 08/15/2008, -0/+13I'm betting he was an operative.
- inkswamp, on 08/15/2008, -0/+13This is great news, although I think there were plenty of hints in the movie (and the TV series) that Book had been something similar to the The Operative, if not an operative himself. Not only was he surprisingly adept with weapons and in a fight, but he knew a little too much about these operatives--a class of agents we are told only a few minutes into the film "does not exist." It's interesting that the Operative is referred to in the film as "religious" and a "believer" (similar to Book) and he seems to end in a situation where he no longer knows what to believe. Might be a hint as to how Book himself went from such an operative to a man of faith.
Still, it will be interesting seeing all the details at long last. - ChuyMatt, on 08/15/2008, -0/+12Most of the next 2 minutes was just me and my wife screaming "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
- IphtashuFitz, on 08/15/2008, -0/+12It really is a shame Firefly/Serenity didn't do better. They were ahead of their time. I'll watch the movie just about every time it's on tv.

http://digg.com/television/Firefly_and_Serenity_Bo ... - this one is only 94 days old but of course it didnt get to the front page because it didnt have the MrBabyMan stamp
perhaps you should quit again - Toshibi, on 08/15/2008, -0/+9I nearly did....I had to pause the movie and contain screaming. Wash was by far my favorite character after Kaylee.
- aethere, on 08/15/2008, -0/+9The problem is, Whedon can't. Fox still owns the rights to Firefly, and even though they don't want to revive the series, nobody else can either.
*At least, that's my understanding of the issue. Correct me if I'm wrong. - inkswamp, on 08/15/2008, -0/+8Depends on your definition of "do well." It wasn't a blockbuster, but Serenity did earn back enough money in the theaters to break even, if reports are to be believed. But that's not the whole story. Reportedly, sales of the DVD and special edition DVD have been stellar. It seems the film on DVD is expanding the fan base rapidly. I didn't know about Firefly when the film came out and I have since become a convert... and I've since converted 4 others to Firefly fandom. And that story is very common across discussion forums. Someone at Paramount must be aware of how much the ranks of fans have grown since the film was released. I can't imagine why a studio wouldn't want to take what appears to be a reasonable risk on a sequel.
- protogenxl, on 08/15/2008, -0/+8I always the Shepard Book Character was basically Jules Winnfield at the end of pulp fiction plus 20 years.
- Suriyawong, on 08/15/2008, -0/+7Yeah, no doubt killing the funny pilot was a shocker to everyone... I honestly have a hard time saying who my favorite character is though, they're all fantastic...
- greenlight2001, on 08/15/2008, -0/+6Easy... he strolled up to the replicator and said... "Strawberries, fresh". Then some guy behind him ordered "earl grey, hot".
- SPThom, on 08/15/2008, -0/+6The first time you people saw the movie was on DVD? Shame. :P I watched it happen and sat through the rest of it going "Where's Wash?" just like Kaylee. It was a pretty shocking death, not much time for closure.
- metaliq, on 08/15/2008, -0/+6If I hadn't already seen the entire series and watched the movie, I would be pissed at you right now.
- warispeace21, on 08/15/2008, -0/+6WTF is wrong with you??
- solesoul, on 08/15/2008, -0/+6Those god awful "parody" movies keep getting made, just funnel that money over to a sequel
- solesoul, on 08/15/2008, -1/+7clearly we don't carry too many greenbacks, since Serenity didn't do too well in theaters. I hope its doing better on DVD, that might help push for another.
- sdcarter, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5I couldn't have said it better myself. I hate that the comics run in such short series; but anything to keep the verse alive is shiny in my book.
- drmobutu, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5In a previous incarnation, Shepard Book was actually a police detective, in the New York City of Late-Twentieth-Century Earth-that-Was...
- levitron, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5Dude, bashing Mr Baby Man is so April 2008.
- Idietired, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4X-Files got a second chance on the silver-screen, so I have to believe Serenity 2 is a real possibility.
I know more people are still being introduced to Firefly and Serenity every day, so I'm betting it's only a matter of time until that series gets some of the recognition fans have been begging for. I'm just glad to see the 'verse -- and the Shepherd -- are still alive in the comics. - bytor4232, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4***** yes. Awesome.
- TenebrousX, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4I paused the movie and sat in disbelief for 5 minutes
- geekyfrans, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4dugg because firefly and serenity RULES
- IphtashuFitz, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4Mal: "It's of interest to me, how much you seem to know about that world."
Book: "Wasn't born a Shepherd, Mal."
Mal: "You'll have to tell me about that sometime."
Book: "No. I don't." - inkswamp, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4> I didn't start watching until after Serenity either.
I know more Firefly fans who discovered it after Serenity than the ones who knew about it before--and all of them, including me, would go see a sequel multiple times in the theater. The sad thing is that I love sci-fi films, but the trailer turned me off because of several things. First, you had the film's title (which, unless you're a Firefly fan, sounds a little... well, lame, especially for sci-fi.) Second, the blurb about "from the maker of Buffy" turned me off as that gives off a cultish, fanboy vibe. Third, the completely inappropriate soundtrack in the trailer made it seems like some trendy, bubblegum flick that couldn't possibly have been worth my time.
Even watching the trailer now on YouTube, it doesn't seem like a movie I'd like to see.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BvP99-Ci6k - sdcarter, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3Remember, The Operative was granted access to restricted files in the beginning of Serenity. Book could have been an operative and given a fake identity when he left The Alliance; but retained certain privileges because of his service.
But yeah, something involving Serenity Valley is my second guess. That would just work on so many levels and would be very Weddon-esque - gittenlucky, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3Odd... I just watched all of Dark Angel, as well as Firefly.
- MadOgre, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3What does that make us?
Big damn heroes.
Aint we just. - Ravenjade, on 08/15/2008, -1/+4Well, it's not quite the same as the new Angel and Buffy seasons which are in comic form, but Whedon's creations seem to be everywhere in comics these days. XD
- MikeFallopian, on 08/15/2008, -1/+4Hmmm, dunno about this - I always liked NOT knowing anything about his background. Some things are better left to the imagination.
- KyjL, on 08/15/2008, -1/+4Go away. Your blag post isn't anything special.
- craighoxton, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2You can't stop the signal
- craighoxton, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2I found out about Firefly by watching Serenity first (and falling in love with Jewel Staite). I purchase DVD box sets of Firefly and given them as gifts so more people can share in this.
- kinggimped, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2Shiny!
Zoe: Shepherd, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killin'?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.
Book is my least favourite character of the beloved Firefly crew, but I'm glad to be at least getting a little bit more Serenity goodness. Any addition to the canon that isn't awful fan fiction is a welcome addition. Been curious about Book's early chapters since forever, and something tells me the tale is going to be pretty epic.
Oh, and ***** FOX! Told you you couldn't take the sky from me, you *****. -
