- Super6, on 10/27/2009, -1/+640To be fair, Ariel had to change her appearance because, as Futurama proved, mermaid sex is no fun
- Insightful, on 10/27/2009, -11/+488Counterpoint is that all Princes are all tall, handsome, charming, great singers, sparking wit, and athletically gifted.
Sometimes a cartoon is a just a cartoon. - yosafbridge, on 10/27/2009, -3/+425This would have been better if they'd showed the evolution of the Disney Princess. Notice most of these princesses were pre-1990...
Let's look at the princesses since then: Mulan - Saves her country and herself through hard work...sure she ends up with a handsome man, but one who is attracted to her because of what she's done and not because she's only beautiful (that's just lucky) . Meg (Hercules) - Sure, she did sell her soul to Satan for a man, but she was young and stupid...and she does manage to save herself on several occasions and once again the man is attracted to her personality foremost. Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame) - This is give and take, she is saved by a man, but she also rescues both of the men at different times during the film.
I disagree with Princess Jasmine. She didn't just sit back and wait for Aladdin to rescue her...she was a participant in the fight against Jafar at the end of the film. I also sorta disagree with Belle, who's greatest strength is shown to be that she's educated and not her beauty.
So, sure, Disney used to be really sexist. But since the 90's they've realised that young girls are seeing past this "true love conquers all" BS and want a girl who can take care of themselves.
Unfortunately, their decade or so of work is quickly being undone by the Twilight book series... - PeanutCheeseBar, on 10/27/2009, -39/+389Somehow, these princesses don't seem too different from most women.
- feelmypimphand, on 10/27/2009, -19/+349I wonder which one is the bottom bitch?
- furburglar, on 10/27/2009, -5/+240I was really confused until someone pointed out the arrows connecting each jumbled box of words to a princess - very sleek.
- Chooxo, on 10/27/2009, -1/+185Well, most of them are princesses, after all.
Disney doesn't make animated films about feisty independent single female lawyers. - Fejerro, on 10/27/2009, -39/+218I found the author: http://i25.tinypic.com/333eerp.jpg

I'd have dugg you up anyway, but for this sentence alone I wished I could digg you again. - chunkybeefstu, on 10/27/2009, -0/+167Single female lawyer
Fighting for her clients
Wearing sexy mini skirts
And being self-reliant
...Single female lawyer
Having lots of sex... - stubear, on 10/27/2009, -6/+170Ummm, these were children's tale long before Disney got a hold of them. If anything, Disney made them far more tame they their originals were but they kept the stories fairly in tact. I'm going to have to give Disney a pass on this one.
- immatellyouwhat, on 10/28/2009, -0/+141TinyPic: works %60 of the time, all the time.
- chunkybeefstu, on 10/27/2009, -0/+134Yes, I believe I do know what you are saying.
- pilot3033, on 10/27/2009, -1/+124Keep in mind also, most if not all of these stories weren't written by disney, they are much much older.
- 198o, on 10/27/2009, -3/+126Ariel
- painting, on 10/28/2009, -2/+116what about that slut from Wall-e.
- zacbro, on 10/27/2009, -1/+115I like how people on here are acting like they legitimately care about this, but 4 stories down the "15 Hottest News Women in America" article has 100 more diggs.
- pluvo, on 10/28/2009, -3/+112Wall-E was a date rapist. He tried to pry her open & gain access while she was passed out.
- Lavarock, on 10/28/2009, -0/+106I just saw the silent film adaptation of Hunchback of Notre Dame, and in the end (SPOILERS LOL), Quasimoto singlehandedly saves Esmerelda from getting ***** raped, but the weird creeper rapist that he totally beats the crap out of manages to stab him with a hidden dagger before Quasimoto ***** raises him over his head and throws him off the cathedral.
He's sitting there dying and Esmerelda is about to go to his side... but then this really attractive dude from earlier in the movie walks out of nowhere like "hhuhuhuh what'd I miss?" and she smiles and jumps into his arms... and they just walk away with Quasimoto staring at them as he bleeds out on the floor.
The only asset prince charming had was his sexuality... - Vindexus, on 10/28/2009, -1/+105STOP USING ***** TINYPIC.
- avianeddy, on 10/27/2009, -1/+100At least Belle read a book once.

- asgardshill, on 10/27/2009, -2/+97He didn't get to pork Jasmine until he became rich and powerful.
- Takfam, on 10/27/2009, -2/+85This says nothing about the male gender roles portrayed by Disney. Don't bother trying for the princess unless you're rich, handsome, and powerful. Otherwise, just stay in your hovel and be happy for her as she frolics into the sunset with her "true love."
*Doesn't really convey well to text, but if you would be so kind as to picture me spitting in disgust right here, that'd be perfect. Thanks* - nandorocker, on 10/27/2009, -2/+74Disney didn't invent these views, he just pretty much agreed with the status quo. I wouldn't call it brainwashing, more like keeping these stereotypes very much alive. And that's for girls AND guys as well (male villains usually look and sound like gay men).
- SkinnerBox, on 10/27/2009, -4/+71And the princes were all good looking and socially powerful, but I'm not bitching that I have to hold myself to that standard.
- jggr, on 10/27/2009, -4/+69What did you just say to me?
- grantmoore3d, on 10/28/2009, -0/+65What about the Hunchback of Notre Dame? Oh wait... he didn't get the girl, they were "just friends". I guess it's a little more realistic?
- ishqboli, on 10/27/2009, -1/+61well, to be fair, it´s not like they are going to put ugly people in movies, men or women. they may sell us sex, but we eat it up.
- yesterday00, on 10/27/2009, -10/+67Yes, lets all act like you guys care so much about women's equality when you digg headlines for Playboy Halloween Pictures and the 15 Hottest Newswomen. You guys are just as bad as Disney is! You buy into these stereotypes constantly!
- thetruckert, on 10/27/2009, -6/+62some ho

- TylerDuhrdan, on 10/27/2009, -2/+53I pressed 1 dammit.
- Atario, on 10/28/2009, -0/+48Can't talk back. Good thinking.
- vagitoe, on 10/28/2009, -0/+47Also, remember the hunchback of notredam? (or however you spell that, damn French words...)
He NEVER gets the girl, even after saving her life.
Then again, that is probably what would have happened anyway. - StreetPreacher, on 10/28/2009, -1/+46Many of these are really stretching the truth just to make a point. For example, saying that Sleeping Beauty was saved only by sexuality and by her "owner" is wrong. She and the Prince fell in love without knowing who each other were, and each declared that they would rebel against their fathers' wishes in order to marry the one that they truly loved, not knowing that they'd been arranged to marry each other all along. And she was saved by "true love's kiss;" the point being that someone had to truly love her. To say that "sex was her only salvation" is a gross mischaracterization.
(A bit embarrassed that I know it so well ... it's my daughter's favorite story :-/ )
And wasn't it more or less the same with Belle? Didn't her "true love" save the Beast despite his physical appearance? How is that "her only asset, her sexuality?"
Yes, you need to make sure your girls are strong and confident and make sure that they know that they don't need a man to be complete. But at the end of the day if you don't agree with the Disney movies, then, um ... I dunno, ... maybe you DON'T F'ING WATCH THEM! - Atario, on 10/28/2009, -0/+40MS Paint 3.0
