The conclusion the black scientist was about to make was made by the apparent hooligan, except in a less scientific way. I suppose I thought it was clever in how it deconstructs the work of academia as just another job, like any other, but layered with gratuitous and indulgent customs. Have you ever seen a phd receive his doctorate? It resembles the cult rituals from dan akroyd's dragnet. And take science's totally unnecessary use of latin to classify things. Academic institutions get off on ancient Greek and Roman civilizations so much that if Aristotle appeared before them, any given professor would probably lower himself to the ground to taste his balls. Science has steadily been building itself up into the choice 21st century religion of the masses. The work they do is important, but so is the work a janitor does. We all tacitly understand the value of what are called lower-class, or blue-collar, jobs, but we're also all implicitly taught to masturbate to western civilization and honor its aristocrats.
