You have to look at it as the father saying that the man's not good enough for his daughter before the conversation begins. Then, the entire exchange makes some sense.

Ugh, nothing against webcomics, BUT WHY DO THEY ALWAYS MAKE IT TO FRONT PAGE. Seroiusly, 99% of C&H is just as good, and every once and a while, someone posts one, and its not even the newest, just some random choice. Same ***** with XKCD, and (rarely) PBF, though I mind the PBF alot less (call me a hypocrite). People need to cut this ***** out, stop digging it, if you think its funny, you probably already know about it, we dont need to be reminded every few hours.
