- EMFK, on 11/02/2009, -0/+31Interesting perspective from Robert Crumb. I don't necessarily agree with some of his views, but one doesn't need to agree to enjoy the discussion.

What? You are a digg user? Now I have seen everything. - Vindexus, on 11/02/2009, -0/+16This video was pretty ***** for those uninitiated in who Robert Crumb is and what he does.
- KB925902, on 11/02/2009, -7/+20If Religion would admit that the book of Genesis is metaphoric and not to be taken literally, maybe they wouldn't look like such tools presented the God of the Gaps argument. But I guess accepting that there is anything 'wrong' in the Bible/old testament, would be as dangerous as assuming it's all wrong.
/rant - capheine, on 11/02/2009, -0/+10I want him to illustrate Ecclesiastes next.
It'll be page after page of a guy with his head in his hands, screaming about how pointless life is. - chinaman1212, on 11/02/2009, -0/+8i would love to see his version of revelations. That would be bad ass.
- groovewhiz, on 11/02/2009, -0/+7Too primitive for dealing with modern issues, perhaps? Stem cells, abortion, gay rights, to name just a few that this eons old text is ill-equipped to deal with.
Stop living in the past folks, the sooner the better, - enantiodromia, on 11/02/2009, -1/+8Let me guess: Sarah is some huge assed amazon with giant lips, sitting on Abraham's face while he simultaneously passes out and gets off.
Actually that sounds pretty hot. - jrm125, on 11/02/2009, -0/+7Anyone remember the Picture Bible?
- UbIwerks, on 11/02/2009, -0/+6Dang, your world is a sad one, bud. There's a ton of really really nice folk religious/atheist/agnostic out there. I suggest going outside, getting connected, and putting the worry/hate away.
- Zippo, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5Well, considering that Genesis was written between the tenth and seventh centuries BC, yeah, I'd call that "primitive".
- macmcraeart, on 11/02/2009, -0/+5no i am pretty sure he means when compared to the morals of a sane person not from the bronze age. r crumb is a smart guy. heard him on NPR sticking it to the man.
- RegalBegal, on 11/02/2009, -0/+4I heard this on NPR a few days ago. Growing up Catholic I'd be interested in seeing this. From what I hear it's a faithful interpretation and not compeltely irreverent like I'd imagine. I'm looking forward to picking it up soon.
- groovewhiz, on 11/03/2009, -2/+6They could do that, and begin claiming it all as a metaphor, but even that argument is getting stale. Why waste time wading through layers of 'metaphoric' garbage, sifting out the useful bits from the non-, when there are better alternatives available to a modern, rational individual?
The whole religious enterprise falls along these lines for me. They are relics. Once you've perused them a bit and seen the glaring inadequacies of them, the whole thing becomes tedious and pointless, so why bother?
Maybe "Religion" as a whole is aware of its own antiquated-ness, and inability to appeal to intellectuals who would analyze its sacred texts as metaphorical; thus, it resigns itself to espousing blatantly obvious absurdities (a single man and woman spawning all of humanity), in the hopes of simply preserving what frail foundations it already has. - Dochirin, on 11/02/2009, -1/+5Catholics take many parts of it as a metaphor. For once they officially accept Evolution as the way life came to be on Earth.
- inactive, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4The video seemed incomplete.
- MonsoonCrank, on 11/02/2009, -0/+3The way this guy talks is hilarious. He could basically say anything and I'd laugh.
- legom7, on 11/02/2009, -0/+3tl dr
- driftwoodtex, on 11/02/2009, -1/+4Sounds like someone went off their meds...
- kalvinb, on 11/02/2009, -1/+4He should try that with the Koran.
- defwheezer, on 11/02/2009, -1/+4Um, yeh- your doctor just called and advised you to get back on your medications.
- UbIwerks, on 11/02/2009, -0/+3One of my earliest memories was going through that book with my grandpa. I'm a cartoonist myself now. When my grandpa past away, he left me the book. Great great memories.
- goblinsoviet, on 11/02/2009, -0/+2Whoa I actually read the cartoon when it was in the New Yorker... I'm finally relevant.
- CoolHandDuke, on 11/02/2009, -0/+2I still have mine somewhere. That thing got me through CCD.
- mic2233, on 11/02/2009, -0/+2Yes
- Rammat2, on 11/02/2009, -1/+3And if he draws Mr. (pbuh) Muhammad, he'll have to secretly hang-out for the rest of his life in his brother's room...the brother who use to swallow string.
- Sushiman, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2There's a documentary about him called "Crumb". It's on Netflix streaming.
He's actually a disgusting human being. He's PROBABLY racist (claiming satire, but...) and violently misogynistic. He is mentally ill and only seems smart when making generic pretentious statements. Nothing about him deserves praise. Also, I don't understand the appeal in gross-out art like his or John K.'s. - pig13, on 11/03/2009, -1/+3Quick! Get a sandwich board and get out on the sidewalks!
- BrianD2, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2"Crum"ble
- macmcraeart, on 11/02/2009, -1/+3my favorite part was that illustration of god smiting that whole city for letting its people have sex in the butt.
- Rammat2, on 11/02/2009, -2/+4If he does that, his life will crumble.
- sidekicksuicide, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Of course it's primitive. But he said "too" primitive, and bad "moral guidance" without ever defining what he was comparing them to.
- MarineOnDope, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1The Brick Testament is better.

Lego + Bibles = Awesome
In fact...
Legos + X = Awesome - mikebritton, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1I'm trying to decide if this would be a good thing to introduce to kids. Jury is still out. Love Crumb though.
- tehknotte, on 11/03/2009, -1/+2groovewhiz, you are looking at this from the viewpoint of an academic. religious belief follows no guidelines of college or anything like that.
- mikebritton, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Agreed, I'd like to see the rest of the video.
- Propethic, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1So you think the world is going end? BTW are you jewish?
- Rammat2, on 11/02/2009, -2/+3I remember his stuff from around 1970. It was a bit nightmarish and not boring. Isn't he the one who did "Mr. Natural"? If so, I wonder if he will have Mr. Natural as Noah, since Mr. Natural looked like Noah in drawing a lot.
- DennisOhlson, on 11/02/2009, -1/+2Here ill help you out. And all these people that do not want to read that.
Since we believe in a God or whatever, that makes us feel inferior, and that will only make us depressed in the long run. And we need a ego boost right now. So why do we not give more praise to human beings instead of focusing attention on a god. - lennynumberone, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1He said, it's too "Tribal", as in just like most of the Bible, and the people who believe it's anything other than a work of fiction.
- woodrail, on 11/02/2009, -6/+7Robert Crumb is a modern badass and I am gay for him. I also own the book, which rocks.
- inactive, on 11/03/2009, -1/+2I think we're due for another smiting..
- OutAndAbout, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1It was just an excerpt.
Click on "Full Program" just below the player to see it all. - Rammat2, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Exactly, it will crumble, becoming VERY crummy for him.
- liquisoft, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Looks like a cool comic book to devote my life to. That is, until the next Batman comic comes out and I convert.
/s - lastmaster, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1"Related programs, Hos, Hookers, Call Girls, and Rent Boys" - What the hell?
- franklymister, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Too easy. I'd like to see him do the Song of Songs.
- JackGrinnan, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1DUGG
