Crayon Shinchan was one of the main ways I learned Japanese. Not the anime but the comic. It is aimed at adults and is full of puns and wordplay and very natural Japanese. It also has a really good heart. He appears in the comics sometimes as himself (with his crazy wife) and he always makes fun of himself. (In the comics he writes a generic ninja manga and Shinchan is a fan.) I read the first 15 or so over and over.
