- danwallace, on 07/07/2009, -0/+9Man, I wish you could get these in poster prints. The walls of my new apartment are seriously lacking in Star Wars posters.
- edru, on 07/07/2009, -0/+8Modern Vintage? Is that similar to New Antique or Old Baby?

- Postalp, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7The second one of the Silverhawks is clearly photoshopped......Bluegrass cannot fly (and his shadows are all wrong of course).

really awesome illustrations. Some read as vintage posters more than others, but that's more about the other "poster" elements. really nice work. - bat-21, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5Direct link with more artwork:

http://strongstuff.deviantart.com/gallery/ - KarateMedia, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Some of them are good, but it's nothing ground-breaking. Certainly, some of them are reminiscent of Darwyn Cooke's covers for DC's New Frontier series from 2004: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/62/DCNE ...
- monkeyBox, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2/me thinks he's a leftist.

i was responding to the oxymoron (modern vintage) in the title with oxymoron comment... chill, these are great works to say the least :) - EvilNapkin, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1you beat me too it
- rarefactory, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Dugg for Darwyn Cooke.
That New Frontier cover is exactly where my mind went when I saw the Whalen's Green Lantern image. - tattoojoo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1i'm digging you up because of the amesbros mention. i have a few of their t-shirts from back in the day. good stuff.

- Giggashrume, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Incredible illustrations!!! Muy diggs.
I have noticed a lot of comments as to why most of the characters are looking to the left. As a cartoonist, I can possibly give a little insight to this. It could, of course, be this particular artist's stylistic choices; however, all artists favor a certain side (left or right). It has to do with a left brain / right brain thing. Often during the sketching, and even final stage...I often flip my canvas back and forth to help me avoid imbalance in the piece (due to my favored side). This is an old trick either replicated in Photoshop for digital artists, or using a hand-mirror for more traditionalists. The practice helps to reduce imbalance: the artist will usually favor drawing / painting objects pointing toward their favored direction. In this case, using his profile illustrations as examples, I would make a sound bet that this particular artist's favored side is the left.
I hope this tidbit of info helps. - Ghstfce, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1WTF is wrong with Hulk's fingers?!!!!? He should really get those looked at!
- RoyaleC, on 07/07/2009, -0/+0/ah but remember! It's his right.
- Manworth, on 07/07/2009, -0/+0Why so many of the characters have their right arms crossed over their chests?
- rarefactory, on 07/07/2009, -4/+3The only instances where I see crude stylization that jumps out at me is in the occasional too-pointy chin or over-skewed head. Otherwise, I see no glaring issues. If it's alright with you, I'm going to go ahead and admire this work.
- nepidae, on 07/07/2009, -3/+1He should have focused on quality not quantity IMO.
- OZnilla, on 07/07/2009, -3/+1Blah blah blah blah, stop being a total art ***** and enjoy what your looking at for once instead of analyzing everything. Successful designs are ones that you can look at for more than two seconds and recognize the effort put into them. These "modern vintage" works are bomb, and there of movies that every digger can appreciate. Quit hating.
- sebedard, on 07/07/2009, -5/+1they are all awesome but not "modern vintage" at all.
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -11/+3What's the hardest part of roller-blading? Telling your parents you're gay.
