sure NOW we all know its "hadouken" but in sf2, it sounds like
"ayuken!" or "are-you-ken"
and the dragon punch "shoryuken" should be self explanatory.
seriously this strip is for the sf2 audience exclusively.

those playing the new street fighters won't get it.
when sf2 first became popular no one really knew what they were saying when they did the super moves. now we know it all "hadouken", "shoryuken", "sonic boom", "tiger uppercut" and so on.
in those days when the audio was bad, people just speculated.
for me i thought hodouken was "a-bu-kit", and shoryuken was "o-yu-kit"
this comic is expanding on the various interpretations on what the game characters said and in all honesty, is ingenious! a couple of generations too late, but the old school sf players would get it.
by the way I still don't now what ryu says when he does the tornado kick, or the "tatsumaki-senpu-kyakuu" cos he definitely didnt say that whole word! - Disclaimer, on 12/13/2008, -4/+14Shoryuken?!?!!
