- Shogi, on 06/15/2009, -2/+22I'd like to see The Phoenix done justice after the atrocity that was X3.
And some Mister Sinister would be awesome. Marvel needs to do a good villain movie.
Also, Cable.
And Apocalypse. - maxvette, on 06/15/2009, -3/+23DEADPOOL
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -1/+17I'm amazed by the fact that you misspelled S.H.I.E.L.D. despite the periods in between each letter.
- spidey0vs0venom, on 06/16/2009, -0/+12Green Hornet isn't marvel...
- Braindead360, on 06/16/2009, -0/+11I really wish Marvel could attain the development rights for the X-men, Spider-Man and Fantastic 4. Fox couldn't care less about the fans, and their only concern is making as much money as humanly possible. I don't see why sticking to the original story lines causes such big problems for the massive studios. Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk (the rebooted one) proved that you can stick with the source material, and still have an awesome movie in which everyone will enjoy. Oh, and in regards to Dr. Strange... ***** Yeah!
- AlienDevil, on 06/16/2009, -0/+10As long as they completely ignore that monstrosity they did to him in Wolverine Origins. Give us a REAL Deadpool movie where he actually is Deadpool and not Weapon 11 - or whatever the hell they were trying to use him as in that horrific movie..
- BrandonJM, on 06/14/2009, -0/+9Death's Head? God I haven't heard or read a reference to that character in years. But, I gave this one a digg because of Hellcat, so good call on that one guys.
- RicardoWilliams, on 06/15/2009, -1/+9CAPTAIN MARVEL & DOCTOR STRANGE ftw
- mlvassallo, on 06/16/2009, -0/+7Dr. Strange gets my vote.
- Nightcrawler13, on 06/15/2009, -0/+7Charlie Huston's Moon Knight would be a great pulp noir movie.
- meridian, on 06/14/2009, -2/+7I can't really see any of these becoming a movie, except S.H.E.I.L.D but only if the new Avengers movie is a hit
- Shogi, on 06/15/2009, -0/+5Already on the table.
- sychodan, on 06/16/2009, -0/+5I always thought Longshot deserved his own movie. It would be interesting to see how they would make the Mojoverse and Mojo...but i shouldn't keep my hopes up
- kiwimonk, on 06/16/2009, -0/+5Stan Lee has said that if he has his way, every character will have their own movie.
- CasualNinja, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4Super Dude!
- inactive, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3Oh man, I haven't thought about that stuff in years. Wouldn't they be owned by Fox along with the rest of the xmen though?
- optigrab, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3Dugg For Hawkeye
- sychodan, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3REPAIR-MA-MA-MA-MA-MAN!!!!!
- starkraving, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3+1 for Power-man and Iron Fist
Epic's Alien Legion was really cool too and wasn't afraid to let primary characters die. - dixhuit, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3I think Marvel's had enough of a shot at the big time. How's about giving 2000AD a decent run for its money? Starting with a proper reboot of Judge Dredd (on the cards) and then tapping some of the lesser known gold (Devlin Waugh, Nemesis, DR & Quinch?).
***** up characters, mental plots/settings, vivid art direction, heavy themes/background and a refreshing sense of humour. Just what the doctor ordered (before Hollywood completely destroys the comic adaptation genre).
[Be good, be vigilant, behave] - starkraving, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3Read the whole Wikipedia article:
"Prime, like many Ultraverse titles, began experiencing significant editorial interference from upper management when Marvel Comics purchased Malibu in 1994" - RobotKeaton, on 06/16/2009, -0/+3Just like Blade, right?
- berserc, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Wonderman
- TheAbdBoy, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Marvel needs to make a She-Hulk porno.
- CoD4, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2S.T.A.K.L.E.R
- lurcherman, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Hasn't Doctor Strange already been done as a movie in the nineteen-seventies?
- creativeamp68, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3PRIME was NOT a Marvel character.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_(comics) - starkraving, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Longshot was awesome! Arthur Adams' early work can still stand up to today's market. Of course Marvel screwed it up by making him an X-Man, which makes no sense considering he's an alien not a mutant.
- kinologik, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Del Toro was at one time rumored to direct Doctor Strange:
http://www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywood/magaz ...
Recent talk with Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige also hints at a Doctor Strange adaptation, but not before Thor:
http://www.movieweb.com/news/NE9YdebdOtt9cb
Even a rumor (or wishful thinking by Arne Starr) of Patrick Dempsey as Doc:
http://arnestarr.com/Pages/Strange.html
Nevertheless, IMDB is still announcing a 2012 release date:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1211837/ - dslabuser, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Think prime was from Malibu same as Nightman which is owned by marvel
- inactive, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3Or give Venom his own movie. the Venom in the last Spidey movie was so ***** lame. It pissed me off they wasted that character. It should have been a whole movie by itself without throwing the sandman and all that junk in there. I always hated Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker anyway.
- Pinkshisno, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2I'm MILKMAN!
- Trumane, on 06/16/2009, -0/+2Groo
- Shogi, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1A lot of Cable's story has to do with time travel, but if you skip ahead to when he's a full grown ass-kicker, you could tell a pretty straight story.
- tehjabba, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1The Marvel characters i remember as particularly cool (that they haven't screwed up yet) are
Sabretooth, Deadpool, Apocalypse, Mr.Sinister, Gambit, Psylocke & Cable (X-factor). So if Hollywood could ruin them for me that'd be great. - arbulus, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1Buried because gawker is blogspam.
- tehjabba, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1You're talking about the hollywood genericification machine that they run all their scripts and directors through. It's the only way they can ensure that 2 year olds, grandmothers and chimpanzees enjoy these films more than the original fans.
- tehjabba, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1The majority of comic book movies do suck as you say, but they shouldn't with the wealth of material that made these franchises what they were in the first place. Don't ***** comic book movies just hire better talent to create them.
- arnestarr, on 08/12/2009, -0/+1Actually NOT wishful thinking. Patrick actually talked with them early on, but at the time they felt they had too much on thier plate and weren't considering Dr Strange. So I suggested that we help push the idea a little with the picture I rendered for him, which he did pose for me to give me the "Ditko" hands (and I have the photo to prove it). A few weeks later Kevin Feige mentioned in an MTV interview that he wouldn't be surprised on seeing Dr Strange in 2012, and it began there.
I also did a picture for Kevin McKidd, another colleague from Grey's Anatomy, who was already in major consideration for Thor at the time, and that picture was used on the actual package that went to Marvel from William Morris (but even though the interview went great, a week later the call went out for a 25 yr old blonde god who could act, so, so much for that. Kevin went on and switched pantheons and will be Posiedon in an upcoming fantasy movie instead, and Captain Kirk's dad will now be Thor). - ryanspeck, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1I'm sick as hell of io9, but I have to digg this for Death's Head.
- ninjamoves, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1That was an excellent series, just don't bother with the sequel as it goes down the train.
But 1602 will not translate well into movies because kids, the target demographics for these movies, will not want to see their heroes in this version. - doctechnical, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1While I'd love to see a *proper* Judge Dread movie, I'll take a pass on DR & Quinch. That was a pretty blatant rip-off of National Lampoon's "OC and Stiggs".
- hushpuppy20, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1They should adapt the comedy mini-series "Damage Control" about a construction/PR firm that cleaned up after Superhero Battles. It was a unique idea and they could throw in as many 2nd and 3rd rate characters as they wanted and still make a funny awesome move.
- arock99, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1dugg alone for the "real" Guardians Of The Galaxy
My pitch for it is more of a Star Wars with super heroes with a guy in suspended animation for 1000 years so some present day stuff in there as well - falconear, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1God I forgot all about that series until now. I vaguely an issue where their accounting department tried to serve a bill to Dr. Doom. Funny stuff.
- Fleagleman, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1Even though it's DC, I think Alan Moore's vision of Swamp Thing is way overdue for a Hollywood makeover. The other 2 Swamp Thing movies were a complete travesty.
- CJDarkhaven, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1A Carnage movie would be retarded. He had one major crossover and a few other (less inspired) appearances, and that's how he works best. He's a sociopathic VILLAIN, and a third string one at best. Last time he showed up, he was ripped in half by Sentry and left to drift in space. Leave him dead.
Your other ideas are pretty good though. The Spiderman rights would HAVE to be taken from Sony, 'cause they'd own the rights to Venom...and we all saw what happened last time. - bmcnally, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1Winter Soldier would be pretty kick-ass.
But you'd have to have a Captain America cameo/backstory. Because then I would be ecstatic. - doctechnical, on 06/16/2009, -0/+1Yes, there was a 1978 Dr. Strange TV movie check IMDB). And I'll agree with tamahome2, I don't remember it sucking at all. Now I'm off to find a torrent of it.
- RolltheStampede, on 06/16/2009, -1/+2Give me an "Age of the Apocalypse" Movie and Ill be happy.
