How true. I've had that song stuck in my head for a week now. - llamakoolaid, on 10/25/2007, -6/+85Manchester United 0
Liverpool 3.
LOVE IT. - therightclique, on 10/20/2007, -1/+72who the ***** wouldn't like portal? any gamer that doesn't like portal, should be shot.
- RooDoG, on 11/08/2007, -0/+67He didn't mention Weighted Companion Cube...... THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- wooben, on 10/25/2007, -5/+68Another great one by Yahtzee...
I think he's dinging Episode 2 a little too hard... the delays were worth it for the bundle and the story developed a lot more than he gives credit for.
You can't just call for innovation in every episode, that's definitely asking for way too much. The gravity gun still rocks and Valve does a kick ass job of implementing the physics puzzles at the right time. I'm not saying the game is perfect, but it's definitely an improvement over the previous iterations (even if it's small).
All in all, it's an obvious choice for Half Life fans, and an excellent investment for curious console gamers. - Lynxplus, on 10/25/2007, -2/+62portal ftw.
- EgoShowcase, on 10/25/2007, -0/+43I love how ever time someone talks about how long it takes to beat portal it gets shorter and shorter.
- SpaceParanoids, on 11/03/2007, -0/+42Beating Portal was the best six minutes of my life.
- Ellrick, on 11/03/2007, -0/+38Its was short, but it was easily the best/funniest 45 mins of gameplay Ive had this year.
- sexybobo, on 11/03/2007, -2/+39I had fun during the 14 minutes it took me to beet it. They need to add more levels though.
- houndeyex, on 10/19/2007, -8/+43Half-Life is the Lost of video games. It generally fails to explain anything.
- Chazx, on 11/03/2007, -4/+38My claim to fame: this guy grew up in the same town as me in England. No, rly. Isn't that amazing.
- meez, on 10/18/2007, -0/+29Well for a start Orange Box is full of source engine games, which you have somehow ignorantly managed to not realise that the source engine was built for the PC.
- Eowomyrilith, on 10/25/2007, -0/+29Neat strider.
- PhrosTT, on 11/03/2007, -3/+30i chose orange box over halo 3. hopefully it'll have less 12 year olds talking ***** like they know anything.
- rolfv, on 10/18/2007, -3/+28Spot on as always. Well, except for the fact that you can't hear half the comentary because glados can't stop talking. That kinda pissed me off but that's about it.
- clink0914, on 11/03/2007, -0/+24I blinked and it was over.
- 0260, on 10/25/2007, -0/+23haven't seen anyone who didn't like portal yet
- PlayWithFire, on 10/20/2007, -1/+21damn, this just convinced me to go out and get the game
- lucidapathy, on 10/20/2007, -1/+19That was fantastic. I think he was a bit harsh on TF2 personally... I *heart* that game... then again I never played TFC so that could be why.
- TokenWhiteGuy, on 10/25/2007, -6/+24At least he likes Portal.
- fognozzle, on 10/19/2007, -1/+19Half Life 2 was packaged perfectly. You are brought out of stasis by the G-man, destroy the Combine citadel, and return from whence you came. You don't need the story spelled out for you... "Who are the Combine," does it matter? They've enslaved humanity!
- imikedaman, on 11/03/2007, -0/+17You're like a celebrity!
- Oddball_One, on 10/20/2007, -0/+17The dude is right on. HL2 EP2 is good but WTF where the hell did Magnasun come from????
- burstaneurysm, on 10/20/2007, -0/+17Yes, it is.
- driftwood07, on 10/20/2007, -0/+16http://rapidshare.com/files/61630781/Portal_-_Cred ... {:
- xGeneric, on 10/25/2007, -0/+14That review was hilarious. A little correction to it though... Valve didn't create their own Physics engine... they used Havok.
I've beaten HL2 a few times, beat Episode 1 quickly, and I've gotten a little bit into EP2. Portal though... short but sweet. It's the game people first ask me about, it's the game I first tell people about. Can't wait till they develop more maps for it. - BrettTheUser, on 10/18/2007, -0/+13It's also a PC game, the version of which he was obviously reviewing because he said it was a PC game.
- jakatan, on 11/08/2007, -1/+13I agree entirely. I wish more people had the creativity and the wit this man has, I've watched his reviews on games I haven't even heard of and was entertained.
- therightclique, on 10/18/2007, -1/+13you have to WAIT for her to stop before you click the node. there IS that one level where she tries to discourage you ever 30 seconds. that was really annoying for the commentary. they should have built a better mixer into the game, so that all OTHER sounds (besides the commentary) are immediately turned down once the commentary is playing. y'know, just like dvds do.
- RooDoG, on 11/08/2007, -1/+12You mean the numerous amount of dugg stories about portal didn't? Or that the Half Life 2 series is arguably the best game of this genre ever? This single video made you all of a sudden buy this.... ok
- Wratherin, on 10/18/2007, -0/+11Zombies want to kill you because you have a brain, which they find tasty.
But seriously, a lot has been revealed already. Do you really expect to have the entire story explained before the last episode? It's already been stated before that episode 3 will explain the rest of the story. In the mean time enjoy some nice TF2.
Which brings me to one other thing. How can he say that TF2 removed a lot of content? It actually added far more. Spies, scouts, hell even medics have new abilities. And every class has been changed to be far more balanced and enjoyable while still retaining their original feel. Which is great, because it has changed the medic from a beefier version of the scout into an actual medic. - adventchild08, on 10/19/2007, -1/+11Yeah, he is a little too funny and brilliant for my tastes. I like em stupid and crude, like Sarah Silverman.
//..............slashies - MagicCake, on 10/18/2007, -1/+11I also think he was too hard on Episode 2. Yeah, it's essentially the same game, but it felt really fun and fresh to me, and had just enough graphical tweaks to feel a bit newer. I can't complain.
- heepajunk, on 10/20/2007, -0/+10he's dead on about portal.
- slthytove, on 10/20/2007, -0/+9Yahtzee is awesome - totally digg the "Valve, tell me where Barney Calhoun went" poster at the end.
- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9At least the cake made a cameo
- AgentMull, on 10/19/2007, -0/+9They pretty much rewrote it from the ground up though.
- AgentMull, on 11/03/2007, -5/+14Whats Portal?
- louiedog, on 10/18/2007, -2/+10Did you watch Season 3? The second half really picked the show back up and dusted it off.
- credence, on 10/18/2007, -0/+8Incidentally, you can click all 3 of those as soon as you see them (before going through the screen), so she won't have a chance to start talking.
- chsbrgr, on 11/03/2007, -0/+8Yes.
- Ramzy, on 10/20/2007, -0/+7You can buy Portal stand-alone for $20 from Steam.
- flave, on 10/18/2007, -0/+7I made it my ring tone :)
- subscience, on 10/20/2007, -1/+8This guy is not only hilarious with his razor-sharp wit, but also manages to put together some of the best video game journalism on the internet. Kudos and here's waiting for his next wonderful review.
- timdorr, on 10/18/2007, -1/+8There are 6 maps. cp_dustbowl, cp_granary, cp_gravelpit, cp_well, ctf_2fort, tc_hydro. Frankly, I would have loved some more TC or CTF maps. But oh well...
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/18/2007, -1/+7Season 3 was awesome, I don't know what you're talking about negativefx.
- Otto, on 10/19/2007, -0/+6Actually, I found that Portal and Episode 2 actually fixed a lot of Source Engine problems. Where episode 1 gave me loads of hassles, episode 2, not so much.
- keenada, on 10/18/2007, -2/+8MeeowwwwrllllzzzZAP
- Firehed, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6And they forget that it's worth playing through a dozen times for achievements, bonus levels, and more evil robotic humor.
