The Murrah building (OKC, 1995) exploded; Las Vegas casinos are often destroyed by implosion. That's why I always use *head asplodes*, as it could mean either. Plus, I know that the combination of good grammar/spelling and "asplodes" will get me dugg down.

        What happened to the Money Pythons, Mel Brooks, Woody Allens and George Carlins?
        They've been replaced by the Farrelley Brothers and the absolute idiocy that is SNL. Sorry, but there's nothing funny at all in this strip, and if you think it's funy then you are absolutely the problem.

        I don't demand that everything conform to my wants or needs... Hell, I'd hate never being challenged by anything... but I do have standards, and 99% of the tripe on the internet parading as 'humor' falls well below those standards.

Not everyone has the same humour. For example, I take it from your list of approved comedians, that you are American in your 30's-50's. The English, Australians, Kiwis, and dozens of other countries would question your list. It includes Mel Brooks and Woody Allen, but excludes The Young Ones, Five Go Mad, Not the Nine O'Clock News, The Goodies, Rowan Atkinson (NOT MR BEAN, try Blackadder instead), Dawn French, Alexei Sayle, Lenny Henry, Mel Smith, Griff Rhys Jones, Hugh Laurie (Yes HOUSE!), Stephen Fry, and too many others to list. Most people around the world do not laugh at Woody Allen and Mel Brooks... they get a snigger or two per movie at best. Only Americans find them funny. The rest of the world have a different sense of humour. Yes, you do list Monty Python, but like Benny Hill, Americans only like them because of their slapstick, while the rest of the developed world laugh in different places.

          The lesson is, people have different things they laugh at. We both may be missing the point of this comic strip, but we should not be telling other people what they are required to find funny. We would not agree an a list because of geographical differences anyway.

I do realize that there's different taste - some people will laugh at something, others might not - but I can identify good vs bad. There's really more to it than how funny one personally thinks it is. I'm actually NOT the biggest Woody Allen fan - some of his films are god, he's sort of hit or miss with me - but I can see the brilliance in what he does. Begnini is pretty much the same way - they're in the same style as the old ex vaudvillian comedians like Chaplin.

            But this really isn't funny - the strip rarely ever IS funny. That's the point. It's not funny and yet it's so disturbingly popular. But it's not funny. I mean, if it were a SERIOUS strip, where the point was to NOT be funny, then it would be working beautifully, but it's supposed to be funny, and as a humor strip it fails in epic fashion. This is my issue with the strip as a whole, and this particular strip specifically.

            You WERE close, tho... I'm an American - 29. But my tastes are as broad as I can possibly make them. I really don't like to generalize people, but you HAVE to admit that most of the mass culture - especially in the US - is pretty much designed and targeted at 'stupid'. It's like they expect their audience to be idiots and thus lower their sights so much that I find it offensive to go to the movies most of the time - they expect me to be so stupid that it offends me. I don't see how people can accept that.

I'm not going to discuss the humour, or lack thereof, of Cyanide and Happiness with you but I would like to point out that people are entitled to their own opinions.           People enjoying some simple and mentally unchallenging comic strip does not detract from other comedy genius such as Monty Python, heck half of the people that read this probably like Monty Python as well, so stop being a whiny bitch and move along.

          I'm above average intelligence and really ***** enjoy this strip. '***** you' is not a term reserved for your so called idiot masses so stop acting superior. You need to realise that your sense of humour can be developed to enjoy more than one genre.

          It pisses me off that I share this place with ignorantly intolerant people like you. Ack.

If you take the position that all opinions are equal - and they most definitely are not - then this is just an exercise in hypocricy. Do I honestly believe that all of the people who enjoy this strip are borderline retarded? No - BUT the fact that something this idiotic is showing up on Digg on a regular basis is grounds for that assumption. That so many people seem to follow this comic as though it is some great work of comic genius is frightening to me. As i said, occasionally the strip works, but on the whole I'd say it's on the same level as "Marmaduke" or "Garfield". It's just not the sort of thing that SHOULD be this popular.

            But then Garfield got a couple movies, a straight to DVD CG film and a TV series, so who's to argue with popular opinion, right?

The comic's more like something Dane Cook fans would think is worth a Nobel Prize. No accounting for tastes.

But she always gave essay tests so that there was something she could at least take 1 point off of. Then she gave us an all multiple choice exam and we got excited that someone could make a 100. It turned out that for one of the questions, there was no correct answer. Her justification was that if you had come up to her desk and said they were all wrong, she would have told you to mark E on the answer sheet.

    Not surprisingly, she was the chairwoman of the county Republican party.

When I had them in college, for trick questions in which the correct answer was still a possible answer, the results indicated that more students got the answer right by not having a clue and guessing than by actually figuring out the trick. In other words, it just made smart students get a worse grade.

    One time I actually caught the trick to a multiple choice problem, checked with a TA during the exam, and was told to ignore the trick. Then I got the problem wrong. If TAs can't figure it out, it doesn't belong on an exam (even though professors are more proud of themselves afterward)
