  • Zippo, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2For all the flack Wikipedia gets for inaccuracy, a well written, and sourced article on Wiki (especially if locked), is no less accurate than any book.
    A handful of friends of mine are university academics with a rather stuffy attitude towards Wikipedia. They'll say "If I want to research something, I'll go to the library, thank you". To which I reply "what stops someone from writing pure *****, concealing it with fake research and big words, and then publishing it?"
    For me, Wikipedia isn't about research, it's about learning something in your free time and quenching that random bout of curiosity that crops up from time to time. The amount of random stuff I've learned from Wikipedia is astounding. I could spend hours hopping from article to article.
