- lava, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Trinity's butt was huge.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I'm amazed. I'm amazed at the amount of diggers calling this lame.
You have to remember that these guys aren't Warner Bros. or New Line. Their pockets aren't overflowing with cash. They're just avid fans of The Matrix with a knack for video production.
The 'punchline' is not the main aim here. It's everything else. You don't put that much effort into a production just for a punchline. Watch it again and realise that that's just one of a few jokes thrown in.
This is a great example of what can be done with a bit of imagination and a few friends to help you along the way. Yes, none of the effects were Hollywood-esque, but I was still impressed by the level of detail that went into making this. Things such as the stop motion panning around one of the characters while now seen everywhere is still hard to actually set up and get right and it's for what? Just five seconds.
I would have thought if anyone, people at Digg would appreciate fan-made stuff like this. I certainly do. Or would you rather watch a group of guys with a home video camera with some Comic Sans titles to boot? - The2ndAct, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Anyone else feel the title gives away the one good joke in this?
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -6/+25As long as the ending isn't a BSOD .. I'll watch it. Jokes about Windows crashing = lame!
- lordofhaha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17little long to get to the ending we all expect but still cute.
- airship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Loved Morpheus's nosebleed. :)
- Dainjah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Heh, yes. Although I was more expecting the age old BSoD, but it was still painfully predictable.
- GregR, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14be sure to watch the ending
- clickwir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10and she walked like a man :ugh:
- imikedaman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11The ending was painfully obvious, but that is really, really good for a fan movie.
- bhamfd22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Stop being lame - yes its about windows crashing, but I also agree with Anagoge - this had a lot of other jokes in there as well, the pie, the bloody nose, the robot. I think this was just as much a spoof on the matrix as it was on XP. I thought it was funny and I believe a lot of other people did, otherwise, why so many diggs?
- Bamber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I agree with Anagoge on this point, people on Digg are far to swift to knock people down. The attention to detail is excellent for an amateur production. If you have ever worked on animation, CGI etc you will appreciate what I mean.
Live a little and give credit where its due.
============================================================== - 23MAL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8do you mean Waffle?
- jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7not bad... for a fan flick
- denaje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hilarious! Loved the whole thing!
- snoble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I am willing to bet it is less than 95%. After all about 95% of the world uses windows and I'm pretty sure that sites like digg skew away from the world average. Probably a pretty high number still.
- Nicklogan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Did you also notice that she ran funny like she had something stuck up there?
- RuneSpells, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well... good to know people still have way too much time on their hands...but hey... it made me laugh... so its all good.
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I have yet to find this mythical version of windows XP that crashes all the time. The Linux and mac zealots will tell you it is everywhere, all around you, but I just can't see it. I guess it is like the matrix.
- Opelious, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This was made before Reloaded came out, so yes, when it came out, it was very cool.
- suldar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4When they said the Matrix was upgraded I thought they would show some funny bugs and security holes etc. Unfortunately it just went with the same old BSOD/Fatal Error joke.
- disrupter, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7That would have been cool in 1999, not now
- Prod_Deity, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Is that a complaint? I thought it looked nice.
No where near as nice as Carrie Anne Moss' ass..... but still nice. - twe4ked, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i think its pretty good xp ran that much... it took a while to crash, and that is a achivement for any OS i mean that is alot of HD rendering.....
- NoozeHound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I liked it. I dugg it. I've obviously been living subterraneally for some years now. Hell it gets a digg for me just for the fact it didn't have 'Hilarious', 'Awesome' or 'Amazing'.
- TheFoundry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That had THE best effects of any fan movie I have ever seen. Major props to these guys, do they have a website?
- aristotle1990, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Meh. The Matrix would probably be on a Linux server anyway.
- suldar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just wanted to add to my comment that I did think the quality of this movie was very good. They definitely put a lot of work into it. Sorry if my comment sounds like I thought it was bad overall.
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone know of another good matrix parody?
- achoo5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Even with all the special effects these guys still look like dorks.
- blacktop89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@SmeRndmGy
I agree. I've had Windows XP installed on my system for about 4 years now and have never had it crash on me. Even when I leave my PC running for weeks at a time, the OS remains stable. - thatsiebguy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6bleh
- j3oomerang, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4alot of work to get to that punch line
- Kickasso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Was i the only one to catch the DBZ joke when the agent threw the "hoi poi capsule" and the robot appeared?
Very nice fan flick. - Xoligy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4So unbelievably predictable.
- NeilM, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4lol. That was a good one.
- tybris, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7Could have been better... ending is crap.
- sulman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I saw this video the other day and thought it was really funny. I can't believe that I didn't submit it myself. I've never had a story go more than maybe 8 diggs.
- Bamber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Chip, you ok mate. Explain painful.
- clickwir, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7WTF is a raffle?
- Bamber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0So the last 6 comments do we all agree that XP is ok, fine and dandy. I have a good stable system on XP (95 and ME b4) if you look after it it looks after you, I have no qualms with the whole thing as I imagine most of the users on the planet have either. There is room for all, Linux etc etc etc. Nothing is foolproof, please no replies about viruses ......................
- atommclain, on 10/12/2007, -9/+7Wow so if I understand the joke corretly, if the Matrix was run on windows XP it would eventually crash! How clever and orignal!
Look I am not a huge windows fan myself, but honestly I think I've seen this joke played out WAY too many times, lets try to take the time and effort to come up with something new to rip on microsoft.
No dig. - Chip_whitly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The whole video was painful.
- pcheaven2k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1TFF
- richiestang78, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Very funny and I have had XP for a few years gotten that a few times and windows isnt stable, its just bordering it.
- Quakes, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3You were almost right there, Daza.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5This is really lame, I mean completely lame.
- trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2This wasn't that funny.. actually it was rather boring because it took so long before the not so funny punchline came trough.
- eTron, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3O god... another lame ass XP jab. I bet 95% of the people who are on this site are on windows XP. Hahaha!
- mstester, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1LOL man thats great i dont think ive ever seen a movie rip on windows Xp crashing. Oh thats great....oh wait i have and its crap!
