- hodyoaten, on 10/12/2007, -2/+59Eh? I thought all of it comes from ebaumsworld.
- AnotherBrian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48Yes, as someone who jumped into someone else's truck to take something that doesn't belong to you, you defiantly deserve to get some revenge.
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38I'd drive towards a lake...
- saggygrandma, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39This is from the Guy Ritchie tv show 'swag'. not that anyone gives a ***** about the true origins of videos on the net nowadays
- Delphion, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40that cant be real can it? what if a cop came by?
but more importantly: are they allowed to feed him? - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35"Little" thief trap???
- daeyeth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32It's real. It's actually from a european TV reality show where they make traps to catch thiefs in real time.
- geoffpado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28That monkey got America through some tough times.
- MuddyPitch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27They must because later on he starts slinging his feces.
- scoot87, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21I am sorry for my putred behavior
- TGMD, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22It's a gray area in the US, I'm not sure about the UK, but in the US you can make a citizen's arrest and "hold" a suspect until a police officer comes. What they did was a form of kidnapping. They opened up a truck with something valuable inside and waited for someone to bite. Then then took that person against their will to another location. That's illegal that's kidnapping. You can only hold a person and that's only if they are considered a direct threat (someone with a knife or a gun). That guy could have sued them for a lot in the US.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Someone needs to call PETT :'(
(It's a new division of PETA) - Crackshot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16You see ladies and gentlemen,
A cargo truck is much like a large tube
When you put materials into said tube it attracts thieves and slows down your delivery of goods.
It can be said that a thief infiltrating a cargo truck is like filling said tubes with enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.
That is why he must be paraded around until he finally sits indian-style in submission - haxx4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Kidnapping, maybe?
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Isn't that kind of illegal? Hilarious, but illegal?
- shoover, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11In the US, the theif would probably be packing a gun, which would make this have a much higher potential of not ending in such a funny way...
- beaurich, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I like to call ""ordinary people" doing crime" criminals. Just call me wacky.
- ductoogle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ya the last frames say its for a show that probably started yeas ago
- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It's probably illegal to capture your own thief that way, but he sure seemed to deserve it.
- jwigum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Teach him how to hold his breath...
- kurotenshi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6haha, now that looks like a fun show to watch...we need to steal that show too.
- L0t3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5None of which necessarily apply here. You can restrain someone in the commission of an illegal act. Now... you probably can't drive around town all day with him locked in a cage. :)
- grgt1994, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Not entrapment. The term you were looking for was kidnapping, abduction, or possibly unlawful imprisonment. All of which are crimes, and likely carry incarceration as punishment. Kinda ironic, huh?
- computermatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i would drive him around town, by the police station, then maybe through the jail, his real natural habitat
- Drahkar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You might have noticed that it was stamped 'SWAG' at the end of the video.
- Crashwithuhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Like they need to. The video looks to be enough.
"But, but... I was going to take the boxes and put them in my apartment so no one else would take them!" - doomgoat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3shotgun + string + doorhandle
- keepitwarm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Its real, a friend of mine in the uk saw another similar SWAG lorry with someone in being driven around London. He was then just let go having learned his lesson and it being a TV show.
- pseudoluke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4is it illegal to have a "little" bomb inside for him to open?
- seaner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I really want to see this tv show, anyone know where to get it?
- diggcamr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, tort of false imprisonment. But (a) do you really think a police officer or a local DA would prosecute, and (b) even so, I'd give a jury a 1 in a million shot of convicting. Now that's what I call swift justice!
- intoflatlines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The video won't buffer for me. Anyone?
- P4R4DOX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9i belive this is from the show swag
A british TV program, Swag, which focuses on catching "ordinary people" doing crime, and then humiliating them. They seldom take two sides of the story - jwigum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Actually, your rights end when you infringe on the rights of another citizen. Then the other citizen beats you for doing so.
- kalleanka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeap I had the same problem for a few minutes. But finally it worked.
The digg effect can even happen to Google. :) - butlershouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3P4R4DOX is quite correct this is from a British TV show called SWAG .
The precis for the article is incorrect. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As this was a spur of the moment thing for the thief, I'm not sure that in the U.S., he'd be packing a gun. It's not like he planned this for days and WTF would he need a gun to steal out of an unattended truck? I don't exactly know many people who casually carry around concealed firearms on their person.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Wow, regardless of whether or not this is real - someone went through a lot of trouble. Maybe it's an advertisement or something?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!! great video scoot..nice find
- mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3yeah, poor thief. that's such a violation of his rights. as a thief. his rights as a criminal. what a travesty.
- timmyallen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1haha, this had to be done, great work.
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://vp.video.google.com/videodownload?version=0&secureurl=qQAAAP7qDzE_EXaT9PZKnx1DVNAft-u24GvYkacn2-ZcNtIghcA5WZ-rF7U8Z3ESyzaOIrOrb5bk8_b0W4sGL6LgoOGkVvlggQ5DE9pk6OKI0HMsVtK47VUn5aSXHWB95mpaE6dvcr54TJ5gXBIfs_DTZ_OZmp_KAPfdXNEVGxzt_7DWiggAicwJGrDot3RoiD9dqyWfEbL3T4zF4nNGhDxfODnQmTyb1XmeREAhcEcMPTh0&sigh=7Ej6PunfrOcFjKCPDlBcigdYbg8&begin=0&len=47520&docid=-12656368316711897
There's a direct link. - grgt1994, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DA's and police officers do not bring tort actions, litigants do (i.e., the thief). And he most certainly would bring a lawsuit against the perpetrators (the show) in this case. Unless they paid him off, which they probably did.
- MarkDuOro, on 03/07/2009, -0/+0lol
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@TGMD
This would be a matter of state law as it is not a felony, so it depends on where you do this as to whether you have the right to hold him. But, yeah, I'm pretty sure some law was broken in this.
BTW has anybody ever heard of cops doing this with booby trapped cars that won't open from the inside to catch thieves? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As far as the legality of this, it seems to me to meet the requirements as it was an ongoing crime, a constable couldn't practically make the arrest, and that not doing so would allow the thief to evade arrest.
- tjtoml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha pwnd
- grgt1994, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Where's the entrapement? For entrapement you need a crime, or at least an attempted crime. All we see here is possibly trespass. But the door was open. Any curious idiot might wander in to see what's up. Then when he was in, he picked up an item, again to see what was up. He never made for the door with stuff. WTF??? Then you parade him around like a caged monkey announcing he's a theif. The F**kers who filmed this should be taken into a room and beaten for a good long while.
