One girl across the hall from me slept with her "wall brother"... as in, they shared a dorm wall on the same floor (worst mistake ever.) Her bed and his bed were up against that wall for the entire school year... The "relationship" lasted about four weeks. After that, she had to listen to him with all his new girlfriends bumping and moaning away and, as we had co-ed bathrooms, she also had to see not only his girlfriends on a regular basis, but him as well.
Another girl ran an "escort" service out of her dorm room. I recall seeing her in the cafeteria one day with these really nasty red sores all over her mouth. She had a really nice body but one of those faces that, while cute when young, winds up looking like a rotting apple after 35. She did make quite a lot doing her little thing though... about $600 a night, minimum. She got good grades too, so it worked for her.
Dorm life was great... for about three weeks. I transferred in from a community college so I was a good three years older than everyone else. I didn't think it'd make much of a difference, but oh did it. I was the only one of legal age to drink, and the only one not plastered on Saturday night, or hung-over on Sunday. It was like high school... only 24/7. All the crap you think you left behind... it's in the dorms. If I could do it over again, I'd have lived off-campus. It just wasn't worth the expense or the drama.
The best thing about college was being surrounded by people within 5 years of my age, mostly attractive, mostly unattached, and quasi-intelligent (they could at least spell their names.) The real world is all pot bellies, comb-overs, panty lines, wrinkles, and saggy butts. I miss college... the people were prettier.
