- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+70You know.. That was probably the best stop motion animation video that I've seen yet. The flying must've been incredibly hard to film.
- Ladon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48There's only one adjective.
- Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45Are you kidding? The song fit the video perfectly.
- williamw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45Brilliant! I applaud you for all that work.
- film42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41It just hurts my brain to think of filming and editing that!
- fartingmenace42, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39i pity the fool that had to edit this!
- pilot3033, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37That, and the drag marks left in the grass and sand...way cool
- aluminumpork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27That has to be one of the most creative and entertaining home brewed movies I've ever seen! Makes me want to go out an -try- it.
- PaulC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Hey, Submitter here. I just want to clear things up; I am not, in fact, the Paul Cummings who is in the movie and the credits. I am just some other random PaulC who happened to come across this video and decided to submit it to digg. Kind of a weird coincidence though!
- bobnapalm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Awesome! That must have taken a fair while to shoot :o
- GreenLantern33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16That is insane. I can't even begin to think how long that must have taken.
I am also wondering abou the flying? How did they achieve that effect so fluidly? - Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16My head just asploded from watching that.
- ElChimbonda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Best part was the human skateboard.
- f8pc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I am pretty sure that if they just took the frame from a video, it would be all blurry. Ever stop a video and see it? It is always blurred. I think they took pictures and moved for the next picture, possibly using a burst mode.
- bbnkstr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Tony vs. Paul is the called the title, the other words below that is called the subtitle which given by that particular website.
- andreascliment, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Coolest thing I've seen this week, really impressive.
- clokwise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Obviously these guys are fans of Norman McLaren. He won an Oscar for "Neighbors" in 1952. Watch it here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2976945051371832639
You will notice a LOT of similarities.
BTW, the music on Norman's movie was also created by him. It was done by hand writing onto the film's audio track. Well, anyone familiar with film will know what I mean. To me, the music is as equally impressive as the movie simply because it must have been so hard to do! - breakbeat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I love how they run.
- kagelump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Thats only with the cheap consumer camcorders that only handels interlaced shooting
It sounds perfectly pausable if a progressive camcorder is used - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Like..Whoah, This is funky and i'm not even high...
- aluminumpork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It must have been stop motion in many scenes though, such as when they are moving face down through the grass (hilarious by the way), there would be no way for them to push themselves through the grass like that without stop and taking a picture each time.
- kevinHaney, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Very well done.
- atlacatl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Jump with your knees high up every 10 cm, then edit the hell out of every snap shot to align to the same height every time.
Very creative indeed... - Alphabet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5well, I don't think paulc created it. The original creator was on youtube. Here's his profile
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Tetriscide
He has other stop motion animations too. Including a promo for the nbc office contest. - green1152, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Totally sweet NOCLIP cheats.
- Bullsnot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Testricide is his screen name. His real name in the profile is Paul. It list PaulC as the creator in the credits.
- NiLeS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They call it "stop motion" on their YouTube page - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJzU3NjDikY
- CarlosReyes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The music is kind of annoying.. but digg for the impressiveness.
- ator1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Night Flight showed a couple of shorts like this. One was called Gieselle Kerosene:
http://www.dailymotion.com/tag/ville+course/video/xj3za_jan-kounen-gisele-kerosene
I'm not sure what the other was called, but it was about a biker gang that didn't have motorcycles. - jeranon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Their running is called "phooning". I admit, this is the first time I've seen it in stop action animation... more info: http://www.phoons.com/
- kelway, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Fascinating...
http://clayanimator.com/english/stop_motion_animator.html - badkins13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wish I could give this more than one digg. I agree with others: makes me want to make one, human skateboarding is awesome.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can tell where they added in the scene where they beat their wives after they took it out and put it back in years ago. The Last time I tried saying someone who made a stop motion must have been inspired by Neighbors I gut dugg down.
- CharliesRevenge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The best part is at 3:31-ish. Hilarious!
- Hoffstra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hi, i am one of the creators of this video. I am Paul.. Thanks for all the super nice comments! And yes a lot of it was traditional stop motion (or..you know pixilation). But other parts were filmed and certain frames were removed. But bear in mind no one helped us with this. We did it all ourselves. I assure you none of it is "fake" no green screens were used...no after effects etc...the sunset scene is real. its all real. Thanks again!
-Paul - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Awesome.
- andritchie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love it!
- ersatzphi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1simply a great video. well done.
- bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have to disagree, it is animation.
It is Pixelation, which is a form of stop motion animation.
Any series of images played fast enough to show movement is a form of animation. - Vector713, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That was awesome! I bet it took a LONG time to make that. Kudos, very entertaining
- rtini, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Totally amazing. Possibly my favorite example of this sort of thing. =)
- cocoamix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In several scenes, you can see the shadows lengthening on the fence behind them.
- tektalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stop motion home brew films are getting popular these days
- bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you can actually see Gisale Krozane at...
http://blip.tv/file/77750 - wallakoala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1insane
- dgh1973, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Nice, good job.
- ator1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes! Here's Vicious Cycles!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAj0NvKt9pM - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is the best stop animation video ever. Anybody criticizing it is an idiot.
- bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Check out Gisàle Krozàne by Jan Kounen at
http://www.webmonkey.com/webmonkey/98/33/index1a_page3.html?tw=multimedia
for an early example of this. It's a very early example, an other one be "the neighbors".
Pixelation is the technique, which is a form of stop animation but with people. - zenmouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1seriously. great.
