- bixby1, on 12/01/2008, -1/+70That dustpan is an *****.
- cptmichael101st, on 12/01/2008, -0/+41i can never get all the dust into the dustpan. there's always that stupid line of dirt, so in frustration i just sweep it really hard back over the floor so i can't see it. kinda defeats the purpose of sweeping...
- brokentone, on 12/01/2008, -10/+34You know, I'm so glad Al Gore invented this Internet, what would I have done without a scientific study of a random dustpan?
- HolyJuan, on 12/01/2008, -1/+18An ***** would pick up more dirt.
- Kohaxx, on 12/01/2008, -0/+13You know you're bored when you start blogging about how bad the dustpan you bought is. Dugg for the Beaches of Normandy pic though.
- Reveillark, on 12/01/2008, -0/+11...because all we are is dustpans in the wind?
- irishjays, on 12/01/2008, -0/+10Life's just a flash in the dust pan
- ThatsNotPoetry, on 12/01/2008, -0/+10Awesome post. He took nothing and made it hilarious. With images to boot. I miss this kinda stuff. In a way, reminds me of Maddox. Only with less anger/hatred/swearing.
- bosoxrock, on 12/01/2008, -3/+11What exactly makes it random? The study appears to be deterministic in nature rather than stochastic. Further, I see no evidence that any effort was made to randomly select a dustpan. Instead, this dustpan was specifically chosen by the author to be the subject of his study.
- SuperSexySadie, on 12/01/2008, -1/+9This is really very funny. The broom, by the way, looks every bit as bad as the dustpan. I am waiting for a study of that next.
- MCA2142, on 12/01/2008, -5/+12So basically this guy "wandered up and down the broom and dustpan isle for an hour and used a series of tests and scientific studies to determine the best broom and dustpan combination," and decided to buy this P.O.S?
It seems no amount of schoolin' can get you common sense. - imnojezus, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7I think it's a manufacturing flaw... the rubber strip was probably designed to go smooth-side up, but the tooling was made smooth-side down. Instead of paying for re-tooling to make a functional product, it's better for your margin to sell the piece of crap as-is, and probably at a higher markup to make up for the loss in sales.
- cuoops, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7He can always put his holiday treats in it - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/cuoops/dp.j ...
- fflis, on 12/01/2008, -1/+6Lol Beaches at normandy. I see what you did there
- uknowwhoibe, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5***** dustpan doesn't pick up dirt.
- OutpostNetwork, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5I have a feeling this product was much better before the legal department looked at the prototype. Knowing that some idiot could possibly hurt themselves with a sharp flat edge, they protected themselves from lawsuits and in the end made it useless.
- nomadxx7, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5Not really. You've taken a pile of dirt and now spread it out into such a fine mist that any white sock in the world will not be black. Don't worry, I do that myself and all my socks are charcoal gray at the moment.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+5dust buster. it's like a vacuum, but small. check it out.
- Frezzle, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4Best blog Ive read all week!
- jasdf, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4I don't know why, but that was the hardest I have laughed in a long time. Perhaps the overly technical explanation added to the enjoyment.
- Scrappy1850, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3i have bought this combo before. trust me, the broom is WORSE than the pan.
- nomadxx7, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3From the title I thought this dude DIY'd a dustpan that sucks up the dirt not that the dustpan sucked in general. I was going to reply that maybe the dude should have just bought a $20 dirt devil dust buster
- LexMortis, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Thank god I'm not the only one who does this...
- ThatsNotPoetry, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3*****
- zeeneo, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Funny post.
It reminded me of the old e/n (everything/nothing) days. - jattea, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Yeah, he picked the item based on a quality. That makes his choice non-random.
- mGARANDEUR1, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3I usually sweep up hardwood floors and then use a vacuum cleaners to take care of the dirt. This method doesn't leave a stupid dirt line where the dustpan was.
- whoizthedrizzle, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3nerdrage
- wrs123, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2I move to impeach. All in favor?
- wrs123, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2I blame this on dustpan-arabism
- NotYourProdigy, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2We know we're just saying "***** it" to it all when they start ***** up dust pans right in front of us.
- jaksu, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2at least it looks good with the broom
- nomadxx7, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2FTA: "In the end, I picked the prettiest set."
What kind of scientific method is this? As stated the dude picked it to study and write about. I'm pretty sure "the prettiest set" doesn't hold a candle when you're doing a scientific experiment (unless it was about picking fake/natural boobs) - Tarsmus, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2And less elitism, therefore making it tolerable to anyone over the age of 13.
- ThatsNotPoetry, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2That's why that part coupled with his stupid choice is a joke. You win at humor.
- derekmas10, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2dugg for US Mexico border analogy.
- lotawanalover, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2dugg because.. ***** dustpans. if i ever have to use a broom, i sweep debris into a pile and vacuum.
- whoizthedrizzle, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2this is actually the scientific method i use in bars and most social situations
- ophello, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Use your fingers and scoop it up, lazy ass.
- costumemaker, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2i just sweep the line away back onto the floor.
- it gets rid of the line
- it makes some of my work completely useless because of how counterintuitive it is
- it lets me think of the dust that got to go free as 'the lucky survivors' - ophello, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Im pretty sure that since the underside is fine, this is just a manufacturing error. Id look at other Clorox dustpans to be sure. I really doubt this is how they designed their product.
- Dakobah, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2Italians have been picking up the pieces for hundreds of years, so I didn’t think I could go wrong lol??.
- ShrimpCrackers, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2Nerdrage only comes on after his wife beats him near to a bloody pulp for buying such a ***** dust pan.
- warcin, on 12/01/2008, -1/+2your not using it right
- vidaliasweet, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1The best thing to do is buy one of those sets with the dustpan and the little clip-in handheld sweeper that goes with it-it will get all the dirt up. If that doesn't work, just get a pair of chop sticks and waste the same amount of time that we all did on this article.
- whuddafugger, on 12/01/2008, -1/+2dustpans are for wimpy-ass little piles of dust. i use a snow shovel that i bought from the thrift store for $1.99. works beautifully!
- whoizthedrizzle, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1excellent line of thinking
- mGARANDEUR1, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1That is thrilling.
- tenaciouslee, on 12/06/2008, -0/+1Dugg for the free body diagram....
