No offense to Alex or Kevin, 'cause I like both of them, too, but after Comcast bought TechTV as it was starting to hit its stride again, forced on- and off-screen talent to resign, and cut out 95% of the programming that made TechTV TechTV, it just lost its spark.
The only reason to watch G4 anymore is X-Play, which really says something about the original G4 as an all-gaming channel -- if you buy out the competition with only one show devoted solely to game reviews and merge it with your own all-gaming channel and, after two years of mergers and name-dropping and resequencing, that show is all that remains of your own content lineup... I know first-hand what government cheese and powdered milk is like. BUT, I know that when you don't have electicity and have to use oil lamps like we did, a mac is the least of your needs. We couldn't afford to pay the electric bill, I think that qualifies as poor, especially since we lived in a major city and not "on the farm."

No decent case would fail being simply hit with a baseball bat (except maybe a standard beige box). Even when he hit the board, he hit something structural, not electronic.

- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Well it's testament to the construction of those old G4 cases that he only actually bent 3 bits of metalwork o the whole thing (there was a dent in the top, a dent at the top edge of the door and he trashed the PCI card bracket at the back).
For those of you struggling to believe it worked after that beating, he never actually hit the board, he tried to but the bat hit the aforementioned PCI card bracket, mangling it rather badly. I'd guess it maybe needed a replacement graphics card at most, and a little light straightening - probably worked OK. For what it matters i have a G3 in one of those cases and they are heavier gauge than they look :)
Oh and screw you all and your fancy cases - my Sun Ultra 60 would double as a great nuke shelter for my cat. Weighs going on for 50lbs and is practically indestructable apart from the plastics. - suldar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I'm not a Mac user but I found that painful too. Being a pack rat I find it almost impossible to throw any kind of computer stuff away. My apartment looks like a used computer shop with strange parts piled everywhere...
