We live in a complex, no dogs allowed. The neighbor brought in a dog one day that barked all day long. I sat in my apartment barking back for about 2 hours for ***** and giggles. A third tenant complained about her two neighbors having dogs. The landlord called both me and the neighbor with the actual dog to remind us of our lease agreement. I told her that my girlfriend has Tourettes (she is also on the lease) that was set off by the incessant barking of the other dog and that I did not appreciate her discrimination of medical issues.
They actually sent me a 2 page letter of apology that talked about the accommodations they have made for people with disabilities over the years and offered me a free months rent for the inconvenience. I did turn down the free months rent offer, as I felt a bit guilty for faking an illness, and instead told them to be more sensitive in the future. The only part that got me was the "no animals are allowed in the building" followed by the oh so typical "If it was small birds that would be ok". Why the f*** would small birds be OK? The landlord said I could have a dog but the people in the apartment complex complained, in the end I purchased the entire place and evicted the tenants, made a HUGE from yard for the dog to patrol :)

If you ever lived in a city, you know a place where alot of buildings are gathered, they dont all reside in the same city block. They are scattered all over the city and adjacent suburbs. So driving 35 miles across town just too see if a tenant is breaching a minor contract agreement is unproductive and waste of company time.
