- Ghostalker, on 07/04/2009, -0/+38I guess I need to know who Jim is to find this funny.
- doublefelix, on 07/04/2009, -2/+33Half full or half empty? Depends on whether you are drinking or pouring.
- doublefelix, on 07/04/2009, -1/+30Jim is obviously either a pragmatist or an alcoholic.
- Darkhacker, on 07/05/2009, -4/+20The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
- diemunkiesdie, on 07/05/2009, -1/+14An optometrist is an eye doctor.
The more you know -----------★ - Richandler, on 07/05/2009, -1/+13Must be full x 1/2 because empty x 1/2 is still empty.
- DoodleMaster, on 07/05/2009, -0/+11The Optometrist:
"I'd say it's half a glass of water." - sneakyness, on 07/04/2009, -1/+12What if I'm just looking at it?
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -1/+11Here you go, good sir.
http://imgur.com/RcdD8.png - infinityredux, on 07/05/2009, -0/+10It does actually. Ever heard of "drying"?
- christoast, on 07/05/2009, -0/+9@complex
even so it needs an answer. - christoast, on 07/05/2009, -0/+8So you're saying if you left a glass of water out for a year it wouldn't evaporate? You're dumb.
- TWallaceWD, on 07/05/2009, -0/+8Buried on account of it being stupid and unfunny.
- The_Orichalcon, on 07/05/2009, -0/+8Then it's half empty, as in the comic, it's evapourating so it's in the process of emptying.
- dafragsta, on 07/05/2009, -1/+9The art in webcomics is just getting ***** and *****.
- Jeepinator, on 07/05/2009, -0/+8Unless the air in the room is already highly saturated with water vapor then water will evaporate at room temperature.
- Korberos, on 07/05/2009, -0/+6As of right now, 13 diggs is mad diggs.
- AdmiralAcbar, on 07/05/2009, -0/+6Then what if the humidity is such that it's in a state of equilibrium?
- EvaRecess, on 07/05/2009, -11/+17This is the best XKCD ever!
- afruff23, on 07/05/2009, -0/+5http://www.webchem.net/notes/how_far/kinetics/maxw ...
Read up on chem 101; not all molecules in a container have the same amount of energy. The energy is distributed according to the boltzmann distribution, so in a 25 degree celsius cup, there will be some small amount of 100 degress celsius molecules and those molecules will evaporate (assuming 1 atm pressure). Once those molecules evaporate, the other molecules will again distribute their energies to follow the distribution while taking in heat from the ambient air to ensure evaporation remains at a approximately constant rate (assuming a constant surface area). - Advenger, on 07/05/2009, -0/+4The glass is half full when you're filling it. The glass is half empty when you're draining it. The answer depends on the last action taken to the glass.
I say smash it. The glass is friggin' gone! - purple, on 07/05/2009, -0/+4Well that's a good point Richandler.
- doom777, on 07/05/2009, -1/+5Dugg for consistency.
- notyourbroom, on 07/05/2009, -4/+7Could someone please circle the funny for me?
- frostkaiser, on 07/05/2009, -0/+3The best answer to this is that the realist sees the glass at 50%.
- OpCzar, on 07/05/2009, -1/+4And the ENGINEER says the glass is twice as big as it needs to be ;-)
- shadeOfGrey, on 07/04/2009, -1/+4What?
- eatsomelead, on 07/05/2009, -2/+5you must be fun at parties.
- Makemeasword, on 07/05/2009, -4/+7Power User.
Also, not funny. - DaviDTC, on 07/05/2009, -0/+3This was funnier than the comic, but that isn't too hard to do.
- digitul, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2still don't see it. thanks for trying though!
- SirBruce, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2You have the wrong size glass.
- DaviDTC, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2You must have special goggles to see something that everyone else is missing.
- ak666jk, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Then half the cup has water in it.
- macatizor, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
- Wisgary, on 07/05/2009, -1/+3The person who is not a friend of the author of the comic:
This is crap. - AdmiralAcbar, on 07/05/2009, -1/+3Dugg for consistency of digging for consistency.
- infinityredux, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1It's half full and half empty.
- LethalLink, on 07/05/2009, -1/+2The next XKCD will be even better.
Wait... - DaviDTC, on 07/05/2009, -2/+3Buried this just like the last comic you submitted from the site. Are they asking you to bring them traffic or do you really find this crap funny? Once the blind diggers get it to the front page it is buried away by those who actually read it.
Perhaps if you actually read it you will know why people hate power users and blind diggers. - Filipp0, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1Jim is a troll
- christoast, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1@Orichalcon: Good answer! But now what if the glass is in space in a constant state of room temp?
- Tomoir, on 07/05/2009, -1/+2Damnit. When I saw this in on the front page, I was all like hell yeah, I'm gonna make that comment and get mad diggs.
Jerk. - Ghostalker, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1I scrolled though some of the random comics on that site.... none of them are funny.
Don't quit your day job buddy. - DoodleMaster, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1The spy IS the glass of water.
- Fabbyfubz, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1And the SPY says the glass makes for a good distraction
- donotclickjim, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1i don't get it
- DouglasQ, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1Hey thief you stole my thing. http://digg.com/other_sports/Free_Diving_One_of_th ...
- JonTheGoose, on 07/05/2009, -1/+2LOL, that is SO what Jim would say!!
