Let me see here...There are already quite a few really good games. There are free demos for quite a few games so you can give them a try before you buy. Xbox Live Arcade is incredible. The media functions are excellent when you have Vista Beta or MCE, and the general functions are pretty nice too. The downloadable content from marketplace is great, lots of trailers and videos all in high def. The controller is the best controller I've ever held. The graphics are pretty damn good and we are only on 1st gen titles.
You wanna be a fanboy fine but at least do it in a way that doesnt make you look like a moron. Im sure nobody in your school (lol) has a 360...probably because they cant afford one or wouldnt know a good system if it bit them in their ass's. 99% of them probably own PSP and love it and since every single one of them aparently wants to drop $600 on a PS3...well that speaks for itself since its totally unproven and finding a video of real gameplay is like going to the damn dentist. - ahatter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24as far as i can tell every comercial in japan looks like this.
- da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Clearly you guys have never seen the YATTA music video if you think that's not the type of stuff that japanese people Digg.
seriously go watch YATTA - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+26I dug you down just for using $ in the word "Microsoft". Go back to Slashdot, you nerd.
- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22I'm pretty sure nobody in Japan cares that they're "missing out" on Fight Night Round 3.
- OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Why couldn't you just trust him?
- FreakTrap, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22"How did RipperMortis get +35 for that comment?"
Because people like me hit the little green thumbs-up button... about 35 of us actually... - amigiac, on 10/12/2007, -9/+23It is catchy, do do do...
Plus the reason for the 360 failing is that there were very few Japanese games available and by the looks of it there never will be.
With two to four months till the Wii is released (yes I know that is funny, it's a long time to wait for a Wii) the 360 is as dead as a dodo...do. - Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Submitter obviously hasn't heard of Hard Gay, yatta, or any of the other crap they put on tv. This is extrmely sane for japan.
- javierror, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17lol i don't know whether to up or down digg your comment
- cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12That's potentially flawed, Freaktrap.
For all you know, 3,000,000 people dugg down the comment, but 3,000,035 people dugg it up.
The mysteries of digg :P - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Heck, American ads look boring and stupid to me.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19I bet Lance Bass liked it.
- s7r1k3r, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17They don't make games developers do. And thank them for it because now you see ps3 with a harddrive where they thought it was stupid to have one before. When theirs competition, consumers win.
- SnapETom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13So this video looks gay and retarded to us. Ever think that our commericals might look boring and stupid to the Japanese?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9They should have Katori "Shingo Mama" do the ad!

"There are about as many good Xbox 360 games as there are PSP, and there was really only a few month difference between the two release dates. How is that good?"
First off, what are you smoking? The PSP first launched back in December 12, 2004 in Japan. The reason it wasn't released until March '05 here in the US was because of production quantities and not because of game developers.
The Xbox 360 launched on November 22, 2005. That's more than 11 months later! That's a bit more than a "few" and is almost a year! Get your dates straight.
Second, let's compare the games, shall we? Since you and I could possibly have different tastes in games, we'll look at the games rated by ign.com for both the PSP and the Xbox 360.
Sony PSP:
According to this page on psp.ign.com:
http://psp.ign.com/index/reviews.html?constraint.not_null.article.overall_rating=is_true&ordering.order=desc&ordering.attribute=article.review_date&constraint.max_rows=1000&sort.attribute=article.overall_rating&sort.order=desc
...there are a total of 127 reviewed games with 32 of those receiving an 8 or higher score. That means that approximately 25% of the games they've reviewed have received a rating of at least "impressive."
Xbox 360:
Now, according to this page on xbox360.ign.com:
http://xbox360.ign.com/index/reviews.html?constraint.not_null.article.overall_rating=is_true&ordering.order=desc&ordering.attribute=article.review_date&constraint.max_rows=1000&sort.attribute=article.overall_rating&sort.order=desc
... there are a total of 60 reviewed games with 49 of those receiving a score of 8 or higher. That means that approximately 81% of the games they've reviewed have received a rating of at least "impressive."
Now, the PSP has been out for 1 year and 7 months and the Xbox 360 has just passed 8 month mark. Not only has the 360 produced more higher rated games than the PSP (49 vs. 32) but the percentage of higher ranked games is more than 3 times that of the PSP (81% vs. 25%)!!!!
Basically, 360 developers have made more “good” games in less time than the PSP developers.
Using this information, it’s simply pathetic to compare the 360’s lineup to the PSP’s. The 360 has more higher ranked games even though the PSP has been out more than twice as long as the 360.
Don’t get me wrong, I have a PSP and I love the platform. I think it has a lot of untapped potential. However, the developers just haven’t been making very many great games for it. In fact, I haven’t gotten another game for the system outside of the original launch lineup. Basically, I’m just disappointed.
"This sounds all great, but it seems people these days want a console with good games, not features. Or am I missing the point as to why everyone is soiling themselves over the Wii and DS and scolding the PSP and PS3?"
Close, but no cigar. Yes, every console war has come down to the games. However, it’s the unique features of a console that games take advantage of in innovative and, most importantly, fun ways that give a particular console an edge over the competition.
Xbox has the innovative Xbox Live (multiplayer, digital content distribution, and online community all rolled into one), media center capabilities, and will have Live Anywhere to tie into it. Nearly all, if not all, of the games made for the 360 (not old xbox games) take advantage of features offered by Xbox Live. Nintendo DS has a touch sensitive screen which nearly all, if not all, of it’s games take advantage of. Nintendo Wii promises to have innovative motion sensing, which nearly all, if not all, of it’s upcoming titles will take advantage of. Then there’s the PS3. The PS3 has a service similar to live, but we’ve only seen 1 game to take advantage of their digital content distribution. The PS3 is supposed to have motion sensing, but we’ve only seen 1 game that seems to take advantage of it (very awkwardly too).
Basically, the PS3 offers nothing new. Wii has motion sensing with titles taking advantage of it in innovative ways. The DS has touch with titles taking advantage of it in innovative ways. And the Xbox 360 has Xbox Live with titles taking advantage of it in innovative ways. - technique, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Maybe they should be forced to play xbox 360's Madden 2006 for 3 days straight. Nah that's too harsh.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8On a related note, I thought the US Xbox360 commercials were some of the best marketing I've ever seen...

Just like I don't care about "missing out" on crap anime games where everyone has spiked hair in the future. - dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It's funny that it's being chalked up as a failure less than a year into its 5-year cycle. There are actually some very strong games coming down the pipe that are designed to attract Japanese gamers. While the name escapes me right now, there's an RPG by the same guy who created Final Fantasy coming around as a 360 exclusive... that will probably sell more units there than anything else.
- Buckets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Yes, because the american comercials featuring kids skipping rope were so much better.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-hH8nLeigQ - Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I totally disagree with anyone putting down the 360, yes, its a microsoft product, but guess what? It works.
Wii60 - eaasness, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9How can you say that commercial is bad. Looks like a normal Japanese commercial to me.
I mean just check these out. http://www.youtube.com/results?search=japanese+commercial&search_type=search_videos&search=Search - bobothn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5YATTA http://digg.com/videos_music/Yatta
- Brhine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5There is actually a 30 second version of this comercial inside the site. I like the site and the song is catchy . From my time in Japan I know that this fits right in with their target demographic (and thats where I picked up the liking for JPop).
- phpirate, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7@snurfle: I'm a fanboy to quality browsers. As soon as opera v9.0 came out, I made the switch from firefox to that. In fact, you could not be more wrong about opera. Opera is super specific to W3 standards and the such, so its not that certain websites aren't working because of opera, is that certain websites are made by lazy developers. The websites I go to work fine in opera and I'm happy with it. I don't push my browser choices on you, so don't do the same to me.
@Gatesophile & DigOdug: Take note that I reported this problem to spooniep about 4 hours before either of you commented. He fixed it already. - treleung, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Or watch the entire thing in it's utter retartedness(It's a word, trust me).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS1m5vzIc4k&mode=related&search= - Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Actually, I'm running Opera, and it played the video fine...
- snurfle, on 10/12/2007, -26/+31"maybe that's why opera is barfing"
Maybe because Opera is a piece of sh*t!
I grew up and started using FF a month ago... too many sites don't work with Opera, too many java apps/scripts won't work... and the Opera elitists' insistance that so many sites won't work right because 'the whole entire world is wrong but we're always right' finally convinced me that maybe it's time Opera caught up with the rest of the world, not the other way around. The whole 'left-lane vigilante' attitude that insists that it's a better product if only everyone would just conform, finally did me in.
I used to be an Opera fanboy, too... but I grew weary of looking at failed loads and poorly-rendered pages and non-functioning videos and animations, and no amount of screaming "This is better!" into the void made it work any better.
Save yourself, phpirate... make the jump to functionality before it's too late! - OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5PS3 will be successful in Japan but nowhere else, I predict. Xbox360 will probably only make it in the US. I'm not sure what Europe will have, maybe Coleco or Sinclair or something.
- ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"there's an RPG by the same guy who created Final Fantasy"
Three of them, no less! Looking forward to it. Recent Final Fantasy games haven't lived up to my expectations. Glad Sakaguchi is getting around to something. - nedzalife, on 10/12/2007, -11/+15worst... commercial... ever...
- CandySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm not sure why this is being dugg down... It's a pretty amusing commercial; although I can imagine it upsetting the politcally-correct-nanny-state set.
- dohidied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That song's really catchy. Do Do Do!
- ahatter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4that commercial was aired i seen it. they just pulled it b/c "it promoted public violence"
- xeemo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i think i want an xbox 360 now
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"There are about as many good Xbox 360 games as there are PSP, and there was really only a few month difference between the two release dates. How is that good?"
Ok ill name a couple...
Oblivion, GRAW, PGR3, Prey, COD2, ChromeHounds, MotoGP, R* Table Tennis, Fight Night, Condemned, DOA4, Kameo. We have plenty more on the way, quite a few of which due this year are potential system sellers.
On a side note I cant think of a single good PSP game... - FreakTrap, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7@ilyag
Ditto. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10"Retardedness" may be a word, but "Retartedness" isn't.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I liked that commercial. Catchy.
- josh4rim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its "doo doo doo doo doo doo doo".... the commercial is "doo doo doo doo doo" it says it!!
- Lardquake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh... riddle me this, then... How come that the iPod, made by a gaijin company, is kicking the ass of all and every MP3 player models Sony (a Japanese company) has put out? Sorry, the Japanese don't have a problem with American companies, they have a problem with companies playing The Ugly American and trying to shovel ***** down their throats, without any consideration for market or culture.
If the XBox 360 had had a decent games line-up at launch in Japan, rather than treating the Japanese market like an afterthought, it may have been more successful there. - Gambit-gyouza4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For a minute I was ashamed of being Japanese.
