-Nickleback - CanIGetAWitness, on 10/26/2009, -5/+275I dugg you just implying that Nickleback is a comic.
- BETRAMS, on 10/26/2009, -9/+244Hey Comedy Central, can I have a show too?
- crickey23, on 10/25/2009, -56/+239I have no want to see his program, but I have seen parts of his stand-up special. It's horrible. That dead terrorist puppet or whatever is NOT funny. After it first aired all my friends tought it was a hoot, and would constantly repeat the line "Silence! I kill you!" I wince at the thought of it.
How could anyone in the world find this funny, especially with the level of racism and homophobia laced into his act? I couldn't even get through the entire video clip in the article. Is this what people consider to be funny these days? - MarkMontoya, on 10/25/2009, -17/+179RT @joerogandotnet RT @danieltosh: puppet show was the highest rated premiere in comedy central history; america has spoken, I'm off to canada
- Archcoder, on 10/26/2009, -17/+171I remember back when the Achmed clips went viral and you guys ate it all up. I guess it's uncool now, oh well.
- bryceman111, on 10/26/2009, -13/+165Real Comedian = Louis CK -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzbURUrgQao
- algaeturd, on 10/26/2009, -24/+162I've said it before and I'll continue to say it:
Create anything...ANYTHING and market it toward the lowest common denominator of Americans and it will eventually be immensely popular. Appeal to the least intellectual, the most judgmental, the least 'complex' and they'll eat it up simply because it makes them feel smart that they 'get' jokes about homosexuality and racism.
Having said that, TBS gave a guy a show who did satellite TV commercials...a pudgy guy who does impressions of Bush and Donald Trump and Al Pacino...over and over and over and over. I'm going to suggest that this show is in a dead heat with that guy's show as far as the worst show on TV. It was called The Frank Show and it was completely and totally unbearable. The same dude doing impersonations of the same people over and over that weren't very good the first time.
OK, you're right. Jeff Dunham is worse and I ***** hate that purple puppet thing whatever the ***** it is and I hate ventriloquists and racists and homophobes. - therealgeddylee, on 10/26/2009, -26/+161This article is pathetic. Stop being a whiny bitch -- you're going to tell me that the reason he sucks (as a comedian, I presume), is because he is OFFENSIVE!?!? Where are your balls, man? How about the fact that Jeff Dunham is straight up NOT FUNNY? You're telling me that South Park and Family Guy aren't offensive?
I want to know what this guy thinks about History Channel specials on the Holocaust. That's pretty offensive. You gonna bitch about that next?
What an *****. - thezoner, on 10/25/2009, -11/+141Kinda makes you long for Frank TV. Think about that.
- Kronos6948, on 10/26/2009, -8/+128I loved the Dave Chappelle show, and his jokes were as racist as it gets. Difference is, he was ***** funny. I can't believe Dunham's still doing the same act he's been doing since he was on VH1's Standup Spotlight hosted by Rosie O' Donnell.
- chthonical, on 10/26/2009, -3/+113Hitler's stand-up routine only really gets good when he starts picking people out of the audience.
- pscohn, on 10/26/2009, -20/+127you people all need to take a chill pill
- innocentsinner, on 10/26/2009, -4/+109Yeah, nothing's quite as hilarious as yet another fresh new kitchen/sammich joke in any article about a woman.
- BlackJackJester, on 10/26/2009, -8/+112Hitler?
- nouman1989, on 10/25/2009, -67/+167I KILL YOU !!!
- Dkittels, on 10/26/2009, -6/+105I'm not going to lie, the first time I saw this guy's special on Comedy Central (or part of it, I entered at least part ways through) I sat through and enjoyed it, mostly because he has puppets. Seriously, am I the only one, even though I'm 28 years old, who still gets a little giddy when he sees puppets on television? It's like something I never got my fill of when I was a kid and the novelty factor will still get me every time.
But yeah the novelty wore thing pretty quick. I'm not even going to touch the bigotry the linked article claims, the jokes themselves aren't all that funny and it's the novelty of the puppetry that ever put this guy on the map.
I'm not all that surprised the show made a big debut, though, but I really don't think it will last. Complain all you want RE: NOW YOU'VE DONE IT AMERICA, but the love affair can't last long because without more redeeming values even the most easily enthralled cable tv subscriber is going to get tired of the novelty fast.
In closing, I miss the Muppets. Like, classic Muppets. And I am sad that attempts to revive Muppets to relevance have been mediocre failures.
Also I think I am going to make arrangements to see Avenue Q again. - Quartzblade, on 10/26/2009, -43/+142***** I thought he was funny. Yes, bigoted, but still pretty good.
THANKS DIGG FOR TELLING ME WHAT MY OPINION SHOULD REALLY BE - chiddler, on 10/26/2009, -3/+100Only if you're not funny.
- Atario, on 10/26/2009, -12/+103How can anyone find something funny that's laced with racism and homophobia? Just throw misogyny in the mix and you have Digg comment sections, which a lot of us around here still find quite funny.
- joshmoney, on 10/26/2009, -12/+96The Nickleback of comedy.
- spookyttws, on 10/26/2009, -19/+91I passively enjoyed his stand up, and I thought the show's premiere was pretty bad, but the author of this article needs to get over themselves and stop being so sensitive. I don't quite understand the pure hate this person has after watching one episode of this show. Oh, and the outright disbelief? Look, we're a country of every race. I'd wager that his audience is made up of at least 50% of the people he's making fun of.
- CB810, on 10/25/2009, -20/+91I used to work at the Improv, and I would lobby hard to leave early on nights when he performed. It's incredibly broad, lame humor.
- Nerolus, on 10/26/2009, -7/+77While I agree that he doesn't make me laugh much - the only thing I think is worst than ***** comedy is an arrogant blogger trying to enforce people (on Comedy Central, no less) to be politically correct, or so they be doomed to be an eternal ***** and die in the pits of imaginary hell.
- CB810, on 10/26/2009, -9/+78I'm not offended, he just sucks.
- cptcliche, on 10/26/2009, -3/+70The same people who helped keep Mind of Mencia on the air for four seasons
- CB810, on 10/26/2009, -2/+68Mitch Hedberg WAS a real comedian
- teddylj, on 10/26/2009, -3/+69As it turns out, we're all the same people from that digg comment page as well.
- lurrch1, on 10/26/2009, -4/+67Without racist jokes, black comedians wouldn't have any routines to use.
- Briones07, on 10/26/2009, -5/+66Mitch Hedberg is a real comedian
- JRowe3388, on 10/26/2009, -3/+63Demetri is funny during stand up, but his show was hit and miss.
- stinklez, on 10/26/2009, -5/+64i buy my socks at walmart you mother *****.
- Commonwealth, on 10/26/2009, -10/+65I never even understood how his stand up acts got on to Comedy Central. Would people like his jokes without the puppets too? I really have no idea who is watching and enjoying this.
- Ghstfce, on 10/26/2009, -3/+51I bet a lot of knees are throbbing from jumping on and off bandwagons like a lot of Digg users do. I know I'll be dugg down for it but whatever. I find Jeff Dunham funny. I'm not the lowest common denominator. I've hated Dane Cook since his beginning. I've enjoyed comedy since I can remember (29 end of the month). There have been comedic geniuses and those that cater to a group. Bill Cosby, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Robin Williams hell even Sam Kinison all catered to different groups. Each had their own style of comedy. Remember when Gallagher sold out shows? Remember when Carrot Top could fill a venue? I do. Jeff Dunham has puppets to keep it different from any other regular stand-up comedian. So does Otto and George. Stephen Lynch makes funny songs. Some people scream the punch line to make it funny. If it isn't your cup of tea fine. Don't watch it, let the ratings slump and it will get pulled.
- startsomething7, on 10/26/2009, -2/+50Am I the only one who thinks his jokes are racist? Without the puppets, He would just be considered a racist comic.
- BlackJackJester, on 10/26/2009, -2/+48tell me a joke funnyman
- EvilJelloMan, on 10/26/2009, -2/+48I'll have a coke!
(and if you don't get that, you probably don't care about a certain sequel coming out in a week or so) - yocouchdigga, on 10/26/2009, -8/+54I'm offended because it's an assault on comedy and intelligence, two things I hold very dear.
- TwwIX, on 10/26/2009, -30/+71Here come the comedy snobs.
- xeno439, on 10/26/2009, -1/+41which is it, you turned it off or you couldn't because you were at your friends house?
- defendliberty, on 10/26/2009, -2/+41After reading this article, I came to the conclusion that the author was a fragile flower type gay black man.
- KMye, on 10/26/2009, -13/+52I used to think Jeff Dunham's comedy was HILARIOUS, until I realized I had his name confused with another comic who's actually funny...
- montekozell, on 10/26/2009, -0/+33Bring back Dave Attell, seriously he was funny as *****
- defendliberty, on 10/26/2009, -0/+32Louis C.K. is another Digg supported comedian.
- SaladCactusKing, on 10/26/2009, -3/+35Those are the managers he probably worked for. Jeeze. I was just trying to be fun and relate to the dude.
You guys are *****. - BigSwole, on 10/26/2009, -1/+32You forgot Diggs most worshipped comic, Mitch Hedburg
- CaviMike, on 10/26/2009, -4/+35I think I just woke the neighbors with how hard I laughed at that.
- swimmin00, on 10/26/2009, -0/+31The show was called Frank TV, and they gave him the show because the impersonations he did on MADtv were some of the most popular ever... unfortunately he's more of a Barney Rubble than a Fred Flinstone and in no way could he run an entire show himself.
- nixpix66, on 10/26/2009, -0/+30A rabbi, a priest, and a shaman walk into a bar, but there is not rabbi or shaman, and it's actually my eight birthday, and the priest is molesting me. And the priest is my dad and my dad's not a priest. My dad molested me on my eight birthday. A lot.
