- sabertooth, on 10/12/2007, -7/+102...except for the fact that light bulbs ALMOST NEVER burn out while they are on. The thing that kills light bulbs is the sudden rush of current when you turn on the bulb.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+871. Snazzy title with obligatory "EVER" or similar.
2. Spoiler description.
3. YouTube link.
4. A couple of thousand Digg users watch your advertisement.
5. ???
6. Profit! - 1337jared, on 10/12/2007, -1/+61It is only expected because you have already been told it was a light bulb commercial. If you were to just see this on TV, you would have no idea what it was for.
The title and description should have left out the fact that it was for a light bulb. - smoothmedia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+59The fact that your telling us that its a lightbulb commercial ruins the whole thing.
- television, on 10/12/2007, -5/+62Title should have read
"The Worst Commercial For Dominoes EVER" - hater2win, on 10/12/2007, -6/+52http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnqP8lBUwgs&mode=related&search=
That video WAY owns it. - pintong, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24Reminds me of a commercial I made for a class:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7211960412888075764&hl=en - MCMookie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Dominpwnd
- dch111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Well, what else could he have said? "Greatest domino commercial EVER" would be marked for inaccuracy. "Greatest twist ending commercial EVER"? (I'm sure there's better ones in that regard, and would be marked for inaccuracy) Or even better yet: how about just plain "Commercial." I'm sure that'll make it to the front page.
- pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I believe the Digg title gave it away long before the first youtube comment.
depending completely on someone finding it through digg of course. - television, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Wasn't it a bit dark to see the look on his face?
ADVERTISEMENT WARNING>> Another of those Flash Kodak moments. - jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8They should of had the light burn out when he was standing in the middle of the dominos on the floor.
- TradaPIB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6You guys feeling spoiler titles are becoming more apparent in the digg?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12While buying that never ending bulb, also buy:
- your own generator (for when the power co blacks out)
- a shotgun rigged to your door (keep those unwanted intruders out)
and perhaps the biggest threat, locate yourself somewhere other than the pacific rim for when that unexpected earthquake hits.
or just stop playing with ***** dominoes. - OpCzar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wonder if that setup would have actually worked and if it was recorded.
- raabco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7"Greatest commercial for light bulbs ever!"
Woah, is there some sort of award for that?
Furthermore, I will watch it for myself, thanks for not forcing me to watch it! - 5hinmyoken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this _should have been_ a commercial for nightvision cameras.
- Malcx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@broomett
I'm actually gonna defend the moron here - but yeah while Phillips itself probably wouldn't post this. It's conceivable the advertising agency responsible for it may well have done. (I worked in an emarketing ad agency for 5 years and know they have posted their "virals" on digg/forums) - Malcx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5But by typing "Moran" you have just proved there's at least one moron on the interweb...
- Herzasche, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3bury
- roadtrippy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I saw one where somebody flipped the switch and the light came on. Best commercial, EVER.
- pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5matter of oppinion... you dont have to watch it if you dont want to.
- mattnyc99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2try a house made out of light bulb wallpaper: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/industry/4204043.html
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9The Digg? George W. Bush, is that you?
- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Not only do I not Digg video/photo submissions with the word "ever" in the title, I automatically flag them as lame regardless of how good the content actually is. You've been Dugg down but I agree with your sentiment completely.
- FontWrangler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Weak.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@TradaPIB
the digg is becoming somewhere the pedantic come to criticize. - JamesConnolly, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The first comment on youtube, coupled with your title, ruined the surprise. Still, it was rather funny and would completely suck.
- stacky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This ad was on Australian TV at least 2 years ago....
- j2brown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Philips themselves had many other ads that were much funnier than this. They may even be on YouTube somewhere (isn't everything?) but I'm too lazy to look. I remember one with a cat, one in an elevator, and perhaps an old guy eating soup(?).
- JoshRachlis, on 04/06/2009, -0/+0Here's a better commercial for light bulbs... And it's eco friendly! A guy convincing his date that CFL's are a better alternative to regular light bulbs: http://tinyurl.com/cflvid
- JamesConnolly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Then you should learn what ironic means. Let me help you:
Ironic:
Characterized by or constituting irony. Poignantly contrary to what was expected or intended: madness, an ironic fate for such a clear thinker. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah...because Phillips is really going to hire someone to post a video to Digg. Give me a ***** break!
You DO realize that less than 0.1% of the country has ever even HEARD of this site, don't you? And maybe 1% of THAT visit on a regular basis? It is a place for small time loser blog owners to SPAM their "products", NOT for big name companies. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Come on Digg Community...let's all band together to put an end to this childishness.
Vow to NEVER digg any submission that calls a video (or anything else ) the GREATEST EVER - nick34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That guy's friends are goin "Video, or it didnt happen".
- bensmawfield, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Woah, that's straight up lame.
- radu79, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I guess it's sarcasm.
- haloevo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1crazy ending not found.
- television, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1youtube title > dominoes
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I really didn't care for that ad. For whatever that is worth.
- intense321, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2How the ***** does ***** like this make it to the front page?
- lowlevel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I must admit, I experienced a certain amount of... satisfaction while watching this video ;)
- aepyx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That would be like a personal hell. He cried himself to sleep.
- tainedhero, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2How many light bulb commercials have you seen?
Well at least its not one of those "GREATEST COMMERCIAL EVARR!!111oneone" type things like usual.
still...
Light bulbs? - Malcx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1By incorrect use of the reply function you have enshrined your status as moron within the Digg community - thanks for proving my theory.
- zardoz73, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Um, Malcx....that was meant to be ironic. I digg you down!
- Dpack1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0is it just me or is the big domino / rube goldberg idea for advertising just getting over used now... it was good when Honda implemented it about 4 years ago. Now it seems that way too many advertisers are jumping on that over crowded bandwagon.
Dugg down for just being yet another domino ad. - zardoz73, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0It's pretty amusing, but nothing special. I'm guessing this post is by a corporate shill. Nice try, but word your description better next time to match the video. Not everyone on the Interweb is a moran.
- haydesigner, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5What kind of maroon ruins the punch line with his own title???
The commercial wasn't (that) lame.
But the poster was. Buried as such. - plax3, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2look on his face = priceless
