I love the Onion!- Brick86, on 05/13/2008, -2/+10Please don't post a link to an unrelated video. Submit it to see if people care.

- amdforever, on 05/13/2008, -9/+3How the ***** am I being dugg down for posting a relevant Onion video?
WTF? Another Bury brigade?- lizlemoncello, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2The two videos are only tenuously connected. Just because it's from the onion doesn't mean it's relevant.
- Logal, on 05/13/2008, -0/+33Wow, how did people manage back then?
"I used to drive six miles to rent a movie"
unbelievable.- SanTe, on 05/13/2008, -0/+10Then this'll blow your mind: there was a time most people didn't have VCRs; they had to rent those from the video store as well, lug them home, realize they needed an RF modulator to connect it to their TV, trudge to Radio shack to get one, then schlep the VCR and movies back to the video store *the next day*. That's right, no multi-day rentals; everything was 24 hours. The upside was that many movies rentals were only a buck, with new releases running $2.
Before that was the dark ages when most movies simply ceased to exist after their theatrical run.- Elliuotatar, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4You mean like Disney movies?
- colasrtney, on 05/13/2008, -1/+8Imagine having to go the theater every time you wanted to watch a porno, pre-vhs.

- JlmAWP, on 05/13/2008, -1/+88When I was 6 or 7, my Dad swapped out a Blockbuster rented NES for our broken one at home. To this day, the underside of the cartridge slot lid reads "BBV" in permanent marker. Anytime I see something bad about Blockbuster, all I can do is laugh, knowing that no matter what retarded things they do, I have their ***** NES.
- mediaspree, on 05/13/2008, -1/+43My dad commits better crimes than your dad.
- colasrtney, on 05/13/2008, -0/+11"You owe $100 in late fees."
"I HAVE YOUR ***** NES!!" - zdiddy85, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Stop, please. I can't stop laughing. :D

- JlmAWP, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6A father would have just told me "tough luck" about my NES. My DAD wanted to play some Zelda. You're damn right I'm proud of him.
Everyone does dumb stuff, Mr. Ethics.

Pretty much everything in there came true. Back then it was a joke, and satire.
But it all happened.

- xcelx1023, on 05/13/2008, -6/+2I haven't been in a Blockbuster in years! I still owe them late fee's, they banned my account :(
- inigomntoya, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I think that should actually be a smiley face - didn't they start charging you for the DVD a few years ago if you didn't bring it back?
- sexybobo, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1They always charged you for the movie if you didn't bring it back for a couple of months. Now they charge you 2 days after it is due back then give you a $5 restocking fee if you end up bringing it back. No late fees my ass
- Esoom, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0Actually its 7 days after the due date that they charge you for the movie. Then you have another 30 days to bring back and get refunded except for a $1.29. Knowledge is power, stop making trash up to make blockbuster look like a worse company than they already are.

Long live Pirate Bay.- ANT1138, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3Can you believe there was a time when people would actually pay for music, movies, books and even pornography?
- fakekevinrose, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7I still pay for books, there's no way i'm going to read 10 chapters on a monitor.
plus books are DRM free!- ANT1138, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3There's this thing called a "Library"... I think you'd enjoy it. :)

- potterboy, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Moniter? Who would want to read an ebook on a moniter? Get an LCD based PDA at least if u don't want to go all out with a e-Ink device.

- Duositex, on 05/13/2008, -4/+2It wouldn't be Digg if there weren't repeated posts from The Onion, Gizmodo, APOD, Huffington Post.. the list goes on and on.
- postalblowfish7, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3or lame comments about repeated posts from The Onion, Gizmodo, APOD, Huffington Post.. the list goes on and on.
- Lehawk, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2Blockbuster ran 3 good rental places in my town out of business by offering $0.99 for 2 day rentals for nearly two years. Then after they were gone, it went up to 3$ for 2 days.
Although, the other places closed out their stock which allowed me to get quite a few rare sega/nes/snes RPG games cheap. Of course, Blockbuster rarely stocked RPGs (and they were always out). - moosechild, on 05/13/2008, -12/+1is this a joke??? I can't tel... that was ***** stupid.....
- Changa, on 05/13/2008, -0/+6Are you being sarcastic? I can't tell.

- ASSHO, on 05/13/2008, -7/+3I like BlockBuster. The TotalAccess plan is good. I wouldn't like waiting around for Netflix or waiting a whole day downloading something just isn't my thing. I don't have that kind of patience.
B&M video and game rentals will be around for a long time.- potterboy, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1A whole day? Are you on dialup are you simply going the Bluray iso way?

- Esoom, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Agreed. Im still with with them unfortunatly =[ Almost at my year aniversary. Ass holes gave me a 15 cent raise after being the only CSR to remain once our Store Manager ran of. At least make me a Shift lead ass holes, you need it.

- yer0c, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1These looked like actual Blockbuster stores and employees - does that mean that Blockbuster gave permission to The Onion to do this story? If so, kudos to Blockbuster for not taking themselves too seriously.
- quietk, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2the news ticker was funny too best one was "JCpenny.com adds more bandwidth to accommodate plus-size women's section"
- Disco1Stu, on 05/14/2008, -0/+0Too funny. I live by UCLA and blockbuster and seen the demise of THREE Hollywood video and Blockbuster stores here. Guess they can't compete with netflix
