To carry your entire library collection with you, while only carrying an electronic device the same size as 1 book. - ftx437, on 12/11/2007, -17/+69Wheres the iphone??
I think that was really over hyped..stupid fanboys.. - iPissExcellence, on 12/11/2007, -2/+45"Root Problems: [Virtual Reality is] not actually useful for anything."
Obviously he has a girlfriend ;.( - MerryMortician, on 12/11/2007, -5/+34FTA - Microsoft still has its set-top browser out there (they bought up the old WebTV thing years ago) which is enjoyed by literally hundreds of people. Thanks to that.. I had to clean coffee off my desk.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 12/11/2007, -2/+27Why do people insist upon signing their comments? Your user name is about an inch above your electronic signature.
- TazarYoot, on 12/11/2007, -5/+29Dugg for the picture of Katie Couric
- Aleman360, on 12/11/2007, -3/+25Totally agree on the HDTV stuff. For me, HDTV is awesome. I love my Blu-ray and HD games. But it's incredibly annoying when every single friend and family member in the market for a TV is entirely confused about all the technologies and jargon and asks you the same questions over and over.
- bonkeykong, on 12/11/2007, -6/+25#7: Spell check.
- ironicsans, on 12/11/2007, -6/+22#7: The "s" key
- xyqxyq, on 12/11/2007, -3/+17Man, that part of the article pissed me off. ONLY because the rest of the article is decently written and logical, while that e-book rant made little sense.
- solidblu, on 12/11/2007, -3/+17Another cracked list... there goes my productivity
- digggggggggg, on 12/11/2007, -0/+13iPhone can't be considered a "technology" per se. It's a device.
I do agree that it's overhyped, however. - nharpe, on 12/11/2007, -2/+15Iphone is the most overhyped technology gadget since the invention of technology.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -1/+14I've found that the Wii Internet browser is perfect for viewing Strong Bad e-mails. But not much else, really. Except when other family members are using the computer, and I need to check my e-mail.
- digggggggggg, on 12/11/2007, -2/+13Dugg for mention of hybrids. So many people driving them have their heads so far up their asses that they came back up their necks.
The overall money they save on fuel economy is just over breaking even over the lifetime of their car, and the manufacturing process generates so much more waste that it might even be worse for the environment overall. - inactive, on 12/11/2007, -5/+14Number one:
BLUETOOTH. - Alexa42, on 12/11/2007, -0/+9FTA: "to drive Dick Cheney back into the sea from whence he came."
- nicko68, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7I don't really care about HDTV, SDTV is "good enough". Sure the next TV I buy will be HD because that will make the most sense, but I can hold off. HD is being pushed on us.
- 0crabby0, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7Segway
- brufleth, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6I hate those stupid blue tooth headsets.
No you do NOT need to leave your headset glued to your ear during weddings, funerals, while sleeping, etc. - Bridea, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6and clearly he's not married.
- brufleth, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6HDTV is over hyped because many of us normal people don't want to drop two grand to hold on to the same vertical size and give more money to our cable companies all for the privileged of seeing SOME of the same crappy programming a little clearer.
- slashbot, on 12/11/2007, -2/+8yes it i
- HonestAbe, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6It's not about carrying around romance novels, it's about carrying a whole library of reference material.
- HonestAbe, on 12/11/2007, -1/+7Information wants to be freeeeeeee! :-)
- jakash, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6ffs all the guy did was forget to select the last letter of the title he was copying... its not the end of the ***** world
- oldhick, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Actually, that would sort of be the definition of "over-hyped". The hype is everywhere, the adoption is not. Thus, over-hyped.
But who really cares if something is "over-hyped" its just a word used to create another Cracked list. If you have an HD TV and some good HD sources, then enjoy the hell out of it!!! - roberto_deneero, on 12/12/2007, -0/+57. M$ Vista
- masterofgrond, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4It's on Cracked. Actual factual truth levels are likely not the primary concern for the author.
- arobar, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5You might want to research a few of those "facts" and "truths" before coming off like a total idiot.
- diggerphelps, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4"VR is retarded and I haven't heard this hyped anywhere."
You obviously were not around in the early 90's.
You are correct, though. It is retarded. - Plotinus, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5The author is spot on with his concept if not his examples. Hyping obscure, unwanted *****, is exactly what advertising can do. That's why advertising is anti-capitalist. Seriously. It distorts the market. But of course we don't have a capitalist market anyway not that anybody in the US would either understand or believe that.
- doshindude, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4PS3, anyone? that was damn overhyped.
- digggggggggg, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4You would not believe how many people have written complaints on online forums about how they just spent several thousand dollars on a HDTV and have the image look so terrible that it actually looked better on their old, non-HD tv.
And yes, they actually were expecting for the signal to magically look better just because their TV has more pixels.
A lot of newer HDTV's actually do pretty decent upscaling of standard definition content, so it doesn't look that bad... - univerio, on 12/12/2007, -0/+47. Putting a damned list on TWO PAGES
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4If it read "technology" it still wouldn't make sense. The article submitter clearly just forgot the s on the end of Technologies.
Jesus you guys are getting worse by the minute jumping on people for a single letter typo. - slashbot, on 12/11/2007, -13/+17technologie?
buried - brufleth, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3What about them? I still have a "standard definition" television and I'm quite happy with it. My cable service delivers horrible picture quality as it stands. Why should I upgrade my TV (getting roughly the same vertical size would be about two grand) and pay them more money to get a handful of HD channels and continue getting crap picture on most channels.
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3and the flags on the limo
- ShugNinx21, on 12/11/2007, -0/+3Ummm, why are you so angry about someones opinion on the usefulness of eBooks? Chill out man.
- shiftless, on 12/11/2007, -2/+56. HDTV just needs to mature. The typical moron doesn't understand what proper specs they need so they get a frustrated, ***** experience because they're morons.
5. I love ebooks and eink displays. They are better than books and save a ton of space and are bound to improve.
4. Municipal Wi-Fi is retarded. Hook your laptop to an unlimited cellular data plan and skip municipal Wi-Fi taxes.
3. Hybrids are trendy. Just get a higher MPG vehicle. Hybrids don't do well for highway travelers.
2. Internet on TV is for old people. Everybody knows this. I haven't heard this hyped anywhere.
1. VR is retarded and I haven't heard this hyped anywhere. - inactive, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2Did cracked's staff actuall call themselves sexually confident? And did they actually call themselves comedy writers?
- CamZak, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2Same here, but I take it further. I don't need to play my video games at higher resolutions. Anything above 640x480 is distracting. I don't need people to push new graphics cards on me, I got my pentium III and that's all I need. Everyone is all about 'upscaling', yeah, well I want to see downscaling, how good can my PS3 downscale an image?
- crushfan, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2Pessimist. I won't let you darken my day, no!
- bonkeykong, on 12/11/2007, -1/+3They aren't random. If you read the articles you would see each number in the list corresponds to a different item.
- inactive, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2I love how you think you are superiror to people becuase you THINK you are more tech-savvy than the average person.
You are not. The fact that you have never heard the hype of VR pretty much proves this. And you are not superior to anyone. Nor will you ever be. - sloppychris, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2How dare you rather than piraters make money from what you produce!
- Skooma714, on 12/11/2007, -1/+3Microsoft One Note?
- nicko68, on 12/11/2007, -1/+3I like watching Youtube clips on it from the comfort of my couch.
