- Arramol, on 12/14/2008, -0/+48Also, apparently the Brazilian demon spider thing is nearly indestructible. From the article on the spider in the hospital linked to in the original article:
"Mr Stevens, 23, photographed the spider with his mobile phone, thinking it dead after it had fallen in the freezer and been stunned by the cold.
Just to make sure, he poured boiling water over the spider and placed it in a jar, a report in The Times newspaper said. Later he also cooked the spider in the microwave.
But by the time Mr Stevens was taken to hospital in Somerset, dizzy and shaking and with his hand badly swollen, the spider had shaken off the ill treatment and was up and moving again, struggling to get out of the jar." - dashdingo, on 12/14/2008, -1/+46#1 was actually very disappointing.
- elizabethb221, on 12/14/2008, -1/+42I see you've played knifey spooney before!

I say we nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. - supersheep7, on 12/14/2008, -0/+34http://images.encyclopediadramatica.com/images/0/0 ...

- Azerael, on 12/14/2008, -0/+28We are the descendants of convicts who tackle venomous creatures daily and have survived to become an unkillable super race.
Learn to speak Australian. We're coming for you. - inactive, on 12/14/2008, -0/+26Moral of the story: Don't wear shoes.
- Zarokima, on 12/14/2008, -0/+26This is why I poison-spray every spider I find, stomp the ***** out of it, and burn the remains.
- cosmicr, on 12/14/2008, -0/+26haha, you said penal.

- mikethesecond, on 12/14/2008, -0/+25nah its alright here! just dont go in the water when you're in nth queensland...and the northern territory...and adelaide...sydney, melbourne, and perth arent that great either... so anyways, you'll be fine. and watch out for snakes and spiders.
(I love how deadly my country is, its great) - Zdax, on 12/14/2008, -0/+24Silly pedobear, you can't fit in a shoe.
- RadInfinitum, on 12/14/2008, -2/+25Don't go to Australia.

"As they pack you into a body bag, your body reflexively ***** itself, your one final thought will be: "Man, ***** Australia."" - calebian, on 12/14/2008, -1/+22If you have ever watched NatGeo or Discovery channel in your life, you should know these like the back of your hand
- Sylocat, on 12/14/2008, -2/+22On the other hand, if you manage to catch one of those Cone Snail things alive, they're worth thousands of dollars.
Best to use one of those pincher-grabber toys, I guess. - BillDoor, on 12/14/2008, -0/+19To right stay away from the land 9 of the 10 deadliest snakes in the world are in Australia.
- Eagle193, on 12/14/2008, -0/+19That is the sort of creature that keeps me awake at night, afraid to stretch out all the way in my bed.
- OtterStratton, on 12/15/2008, -0/+18It's not a surprise if you yell "Rape!"
- jordantneff, on 12/14/2008, -0/+18I think you mean cracked.com
- poog99, on 12/14/2008, -2/+20I personally would have put the Golden Dart Frog higher on the list. If you can kill 10 humans with that small a dosage, that's just plain badass. But that's just my opinion.
- vinceislegend, on 12/14/2008, -0/+17Sometimes Cracked just scares the ***** out of me.
- VJ4mes, on 12/14/2008, -0/+17http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irukandji_jellyfish -- It won't kill you, but get stung by it and you'll experience the worst possible pain, only found in Australia. People have told stories of spending four days in hospital passing out from time to time because of the pain.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_funnel-web_spi ... -- Very angry spiders and unless you live in the suburban areas of Sydney when bitten your chances of living are very low.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Scaled_Snake -- Uncommon that you should encounter one in Australia, but if you do you might as well start scribbling down a will or praying or whatever you want to do before you die.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudonaja -- Another snake, more commonly found and if your unlucky to be hit by it's poison then you better find a hospital quickly otherwise you could get a bad case of death.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_fish -- Also deadly and if the cone shell or the blue-ringed octopus doesn't get then it's likely this guy was the culprit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_tail_spider -- Not deadly but poisonous and should they come to your house for a visit then you'll probably find them in your bed, bath towels or clothing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redback_spider -- Can be deadly but rarely has it ever killed anyone, though these guys are very common in Australia, just about ever household has a family of them living in a shed or garage.
We also have Butterfly Cod, Crown of Thorns Starfish, Stingrays, Puffer-Fish, Scorpions and even the humble Platypus is poisonous. All found in Australia, all poisonous. - cosmicr, on 12/14/2008, -0/+16yes, I saw that doco. he actually survived. for some reason the lifeguard was keeping box jellyfish in used coke bottles in the fridge. the guy who drank it didnt realise and thought it was water.
- graeh, on 12/15/2008, -0/+16Death in 4 minutes from something invisible that stung you while you swam to cool off in the 50 degree heat and humidity.
Seriously - ***** the box jellyfish. - Amadeus2490, on 12/14/2008, -0/+16Did he have to cry the jellyfish out?
- jasmus, on 12/14/2008, -0/+15Come to Australia, you might accidently get killed.
Our seashells can kill you! :-D - aseriesoftubes, on 12/14/2008, -0/+15Scary Australian wildlife:
1) see article
2) Forget the Great Whites, start worrying about salt water crocs
http://www.outback-australia-travel-secrets.com/cr ...
3) and then there are the Australians... - KibblesnBitts, on 12/14/2008, -3/+17I remember hearing of a guy who accidentally drank a box jellyfish when he grabbed the wrong bottle
boy did he feel stupid - sauron256, on 12/14/2008, -0/+14"Mr Stevens, 23, photographed the spider with his mobile phone, thinking it dead after it had fallen in the freezer and been stunned by the cold.

It was taken with Mr Stevens to the hospital, and then inadvertently released."

Holy *****. - Velocity14, on 12/15/2008, -0/+13That was like sitting in a biology class watching a science video. Muddled sound quality and all.
- Treshnell, on 12/15/2008, -0/+13"Officials at the hospital said the brazilian wandering spider was unlikely to pose a risk to public health since it "would have died very soon after being released" because of the cold."
Yeah, right. - Czechxican, on 12/14/2008, -0/+13The story about the guy who was bit by it was hilarious and horrifying. He froze it in the freezer, poured boiling water on it, microwaved it, stuck it into a jar with no air and it was still alive! WTF.
