- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -10/+71aparently our president does, bush was just on his show.
- miketrin, on 10/12/2007, -11/+57The 30% of Americans that approve of Bush still like Rush Limbo. Ditto Heads, they all need to learn how to think for them self.
- minorthreat, on 10/12/2007, -12/+57do you mean, did anyone ever take Rush seriously?
- zeeeej, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35Classic: "Michael J. Fox ... is cynically exploiting his disease to try to find a cure for his disease."
- prvtnet, on 10/12/2007, -7/+39Do you know the difference between Rush Limbaugh and the Hindenburg?
Answer: One is a flaming Nazi gasbag and the other is a dirigible. - jaredseth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Since the page doesn't seem to like Firefox, here's a direct link to the video:
http://gorillamask.net/Media/colbert-limbaugh.wmv - leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24"Lots of us do." - all four of you....
The only problem with dismantling Limpbaugs arguments is that you actually have to listen to him first. - tsf5000, on 10/12/2007, -12/+30And Rush is a Genius I suppose? At least Colbert has the sense not to be a drug addict.
- Djerrid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Here's just the remix:

- dracheflieger, on 10/12/2007, -9/+24And he's French ;-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Not the first time poor rush has been pwned. Anybody that tunes into his show has to be a few sammiches short of a picnic basket.
- droversoul, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23It's about time someone other than Howard Stern talked ***** on that fatass repug.
- axiomflash, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23yes, millions of conservatives idolize him. thats why its a problem. people get sucked into to this *****, its no better thana cult. i know some myself
- pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17and anyone who's watched him on tv knows he's had a few too many sammiches.
- funkspiel, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17Colbert is a brilliant satirist.
- justinjacobs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Hehe, I had to look up "dirigible." Thanks for helping me learn a new word.
- digduggler, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20"However, he made it very clear that he sympathizes with MJF and is not disparaging his disease. "
So which part of shaking your body and arms around mockingly is not disparaging the disease? - diggnate, on 10/12/2007, -28/+38I was listening to rush when he made this monologue.
I would suggest that you watch/listen to the entire segment or perhaps read the transcripts on his website. I'm not necessarily defending him (in fact, right when he said it, I knew that it would be pulled out as a byte and ran on the media til the election was over). However, he made it very clear that he sympathizes with MJF and is not disparaging his disease. Seriously, read the whole transcript, because many of you are making a decision about Rush based on a 6 second clip the news plays you, when the monologue was 15 minutes long.
But, read his defense of both his comments and his action before you judge, or do you just demand that that be done for John Kerry? Be fair guys. - jivatmanx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Seriously people, just ignore rush. His whole job is just to shock and piss of people. In all likelyhood he does'nt even believe in what he preaches, yet he's laughing all the way to the bank, like Ron. L. Hubbard and the like.
- aresef, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12As I've been saying, Rush is somebody to talk about taking ones meds.
- 6502programmer, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13Crap. I clicked the link and was hoping for some video of Limbaugh in dry dock with Colbert wielding the oxyacetylene torch, cutting into his hull.
- WITFITS, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8And here it is on YouTube, in case your work filter blocks Gorrilla Mask:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nWY6jM_J80 - GeneralFault, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Why do so many people assume that stem cell research has anything to do with abortion? Don't you know that abortion kills the embryo and makes it useless for research? The embryos in question are from the thousands of unused embryos that are created for In Vitro Fertilization. Due to the extremely low success rate, It takes MANY embryos to create a baby this way. As a result, once a pregnancy is initiated through IVF, there are many embryos left over that are otherwise THROWN AWAY. How could it possibly be a bad idea to use these embryos for research purposes.
- Kronos6948, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Rush dancing to Rock It was incredible. I want that as my screensaver.
- baalzebub, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13lol @ Rush for he is a pompous-ass :)
- iiftmlis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8"He wasn't mocking MJF's disease he was mocking his perception"
So... he was mocking himself? He was mocking his own perceptions? - wastern, on 10/12/2007, -10/+14Limbaugh is in the business of entertainment, thats all this show is and should be taken as nothing more. Same with O'Rielly, people need to stop taking these things seriously. Limbaugh and O'Rielly are about as much news as Colbert and Stewart, however Colbert and Stewart actually make it entertainment worth watching
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9"Well, I hate to have to agree with Katie Couric, but Kerry's remarks were an accidental misstatement. It is like the time he meant to ask his wife to pass the catsup, but instead he accidentally said, "You've ruined my life you psychotic hag!""
Seriously man, if your going to rip off a Bash.org quote at least get it right. - axiomflash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6yes, jon stweart did the other night on his show. it was hilarious!
- sprag80, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Rush should take his Oxy and Viagra and find a Rest Home for aging media jerks.
He has had his 15 minutes. - iiftmlis, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11@diggnate
Now, I don't mean to say that Bush is a Nazi but the man is an evil hateful Nazi.
And don't go taking my quote out of context. Don't take the part where I said he was a Nazi and go trying to make it seem like I called him a Nazi. Because if you look at the larger context, the part you'll invariably leave out, you can see that I clearly am not intending to call that man a Nazi when I'm simply pointing out the that differences between him and a Nazi are very small. - hamandcheese, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Why does it seem the Republican always have to ruin their own arguments before other people get a chance.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7More like, "Ooo! Look! Something shiny!"
- pauleku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4you must not of listened to the whole thing. Get the full sotry and then come back. The only people exploiting MJF are the democrats. They are using his disease as a tool to make him look like a vulnerable person who only someone terrible would exploit. It was not about his disease, it was about his support for a bill that was so twisted [word-wise] that people didnt even [including mjf] understand what it was.
- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh, that little dance video at the end made me cry. In a good way. I think.
- Adamande, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ AggieFalcon01
Criticize the matter as much as you like. I agree with you that stem-cell research is (like pretty much anything else) technology that could be abused. Still, one should really just stick to being factual and talk about the political matter. Solely attacking your opponents character does not contribute very much to the actual debate.
If Limbaugh can't say anything about stem-cell research without making fun of other people, he should really be keeping his mouth shut. - uberdeutsch72, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You do realize that Parkinson's is a degenerative disease. It gets worse as more time passes. His Parkinson's started with just his pinky twitching to the symptoms that you see today. But I'm sure he's faking it. On second thought, you're right. Forget what I said because it is all based on this little thing called "fact."
- pauleku, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6The democrats just rip apart any republican they can exploit to make them look better, yet they never seem to have a plan of their own. Attack whoever you want, but:
1. Provide all the evidence, just just 10% of it [news clips of rush/kerry]
2. Provide your solution instead of just attacking people for theirs and never giving any reason to side with you other than "that guy sucks".
Liberals are so one sided. In line of obvious wrong actions, like kerry being a dumbass, liberals protect him like a injured calf to make him look innocent instead of admitting that he was wrong. I mean Kerry never publicly apologized - he put it on a website. thats like breaking up with a girlfriend over im. And he never actually apologized he was so condescending in saying "im sorry you didnt understand me". What a f'ind douche.
Anyway, im so sick of liberals and their one-side exploitive 10% approach to all that is politics. Suck on it colbert. - Vryz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7>>Isn't it more likely that it was either an act or an exaggeration? Michael had Parkinson's bad during his Spin City shoots and yet he did manage to get through many seasons of show.
You might be interested to know that Spin City isn't real. He was acting during the shoots.
When he talks about his disease, he cosciously chooses not to act and to show the true horror of Parkinsons. - mateo60, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6@6502programmer
"cutting into his hull" that made me laugh out loud. - diggnate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@iiftmlis said:
"Now, I don't mean to say that Bush is a Nazi but the man is an evil hateful Nazi."
Point well taken, but consider this:
"All you guys out there keep saying that Bush is a Nazi. Well, he's not"
Let's say the media (extreme example, I know) pulls out that I said "...Bush is a Nazi..."
Don't tell me that you don't need to read the whole statement to get the context. Now, for all you guys know this might be something similar (since none of you have done what I suggested and listened/read the monologue). Stop just blindly accepting what the media feeds you and go watch it yourself FROM THE SOURCE.
For those of you who are too lazy, here:
/**Rush's Explanation of his movements**
"RUSH: Here it is from the very beginning. I go to the Drudge Report, and I see the link that there's this controversial ad by Michael J. Fox running. So I figure it's a political season, no big deal, and I watch it, and I listen to it, and I am stunned because I've never seen Michael J. Fox that way. I've seen him on Boston Legal; I've seen him in interviews. I have never seen him in the full force of the ravages of his disease. So I have a radio show here, and I am trying to describe for the audience watching on my Dittocam what I am seeing -- and I hope you heard the words. His face and his body never leave the frame, and as I'm describing this (I'm even doing it now, and as I'm describing this) I'm starting to move around like he does, but never once was I making fun of him. I was trying to illustrate for my audience watching on the Dittocam what I had seen."
For those of you who have convinced yourselves that he was "mocking", I can't change your mind. But for those of you who are thinkers, there is a difference between making fun of somebody and illustrating for a video audience what you saw in the ad. Remember, when this took place, most Americans had not yet seen the ad, so an illustration of what he saw was perfectly in order.
/**Rush's open letter to Katie Couric:**
Thanks, Katie, I'll try to make it simple:
I believe Democrats have a long history of using victims of various things as POLITICAL spokespeople because they believe they are untouchable, infallible. They are immune from criticism. But when anyone enters the POLITICAL arena of ideas they forfeit the right to be unchallenged on their participation and message.
I have not met Mr. Fox, do not know him. I have admired his work in film and TV and his appearances on Letterman were howlers. I have nothing personal against him. But I believe his implication that only Democrats want to cure disease(s) is irresponsible (as I believed about John Edwards assuring voters Christopher Reeve would walk if only John Kerry were elected). I think this is ultimately cruel and gives people who suffer these terrible afflictions false hope.
As of now there is NO EVIDENCE that embryonic stem cells even hold promise, while other approaches, such as adult stem cells, already have yielded results. Michael's TV spots mislead and misinform on this. (You might ask him about the gene therapy research at a Chicago hospital which has produced encouraging results on Parkinson's patients. A VIRUS is inserted in the gene, which is then inserted in the brain. The Michael J. Fox Foundations has committed $1.9 million to further research on this...story from earlier this month.)
I did NOT mock or make fun of Mr. Fox. I have seen him many times on TV but never have I seen him as he appears in the ads. I read from his own book that he will not take his medications before certain appearances (Senate, 1999) in order to illustrate the ravages of Parkinson's, which I understand and applaud. So the concept of manipulating meds has been stated by Mr. Fox, which is what caused me to question his appearance in his ads.
He is stumping for Democrats, in the political arena, and is therefore open to analysis and criticism as we all are. His suffering is NOT fair game and I am sorry if people drew that conclusion about my comments, but I believe this happens precisely because NO criticism of victims is ever allowed, at all, which as I say is the Democrat strategy in putting them forward. - dysfunction, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4madchemist: Right, because you obviously know so much about Parkinson's. Obviously, if you say so, Fox MUST be faking it.
- bayonetblaha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Rush charged him with exaggerating the effects. That's not the same as not taking the medicine.
- gordonp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What.. not a single Geddy Lee joke here?
- phcreates, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Who's Jon Carry?
In terms of entertainment, those Nazi parades were really spectacular, too. What happened to those? - jofwooster, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1The putrid hatred you people spew here at the mention of Rush's name is astonishing. Ever actually listened to him once? Or do you just derive your justification from other people's opinions?
Either way, it's not good for your blood pressure to get so worked up. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5@lordTalus:
Besides the media, democrats and critics??? Serious enough to cover this for two weeks.
it has only been on media for 2 weeks because people like rush, mrs cheney and others wont drop it...
had rush honestly appologised and not --i am sorry the dems are exploiting micheal jay fox and dropped it,,, the media wouldnt still be talking about rush
But they all are still trying to spin it.. so get rush to shut up and the media will to. -
