youtube.com — It says it was banned but I pretty vividly remember this being no TV... I also remember thinking the pentium 2 was pretty kickass and was hoping I would get one and have 32 MB of RAM because it was "more than I would ever need"

If you've never seen the inside of the SEC, it's simply a daughterboard on which the CPU and L2 cache were mounted, except for in the case of the PII Celeron, which either had no L2 cache (boy was that a mistake) or had the L2 on-die.

    i turned my old P2 450 into a linux media center... a slow one. im soon going to bump it up to a speedy P3 700.

  • wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yea, the Slot A chips (PII and PIII) were really that big. The first systems I hand built PIII systems, so I kept one around for sentimental reasons. The one thing they did have going for them was that they were easy to install. No worries about bending pins or cracking the chip whist mounting a monsterous copper core hsf. Just slap it into the slot and connect the fan lead to the header on the mobo. Done.
