"Ok, butt stuff." - jobney76, on 11/24/2007, -1/+115lambaste - 1 : to assault violently : beat, whip 2 : to attack verbally : censure
- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -8/+110Stewie: Cut my eggs.
Butler: [cuts eggs] Your eggs are cut sir.
Stewie: Cut my milk!
Butler: I can’t sir, it’s liquid. - Ajjah, on 11/24/2007, -29/+97It was just a string of irrelevant, interchangeable anecdotes that had no relevance to the thesis of his speech...
- Amadeus2490, on 11/24/2007, -20/+80I Found that speech shallow and pedantic.
- phej, on 11/24/2007, -2/+61Imbecile! Freeze it, then cut it, and if you question me again I'll put you on diaper detail and I promise I won't make it easy for you.
- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -12/+65"NO BUTT STUFF!.........................ok butt stuff......"
lol - D3koy, on 11/24/2007, -12/+61As opposed to his show?
- JoeB4ever, on 11/24/2007, -6/+55These writers deserve it for the countess laughs they've given us.
If it wasn't for these guys, life would suck so much more. - ripstuntz, on 11/24/2007, -8/+47Seth McFarlane is great! You can tell he is passionate about what he does.. most arrogant douche bag celebs in his position would sit back and watch the ***** storm brew. Instead, Seth helps the cause and fights for what he believes in.
- Damian91, on 11/24/2007, -9/+48It's like a mixture of Peter and Brian talking, soooo funny :D. But seriously give the writers what they want for ***** sakes, talk about selfish.
- lordsteve, on 11/24/2007, -2/+38He's a writer... he writes things down...
Awesome verbiage doesn't just come to writers on a whim - they have to actually think about it ahead of time. I know because I am one. - semeticstallion, on 11/24/2007, -1/+36You obviously didn't watch the whole thing then
- realyst, on 11/24/2007, -0/+29Indeed, I wasn't sure what "Land Blasting" was. I was thinking highway construction maybe?
- NikoKun, on 11/24/2007, -4/+33Why are so many idiots against the writers guild strike? -_- And I'm not just talking about this idiot, Look at all the comments on that youtube video...
Oh noes, your favorite tv show's new episodes might be delayed... -_-
You clearly don't know what you are talking about... This strike is very important, and they need to win it. I'll sacrifice TV for a little while, if it means the people writing it are being payed fairly.
Also, Seth is awesome, and you're an instant douche for saying otherwise! - Ayavaron, on 11/24/2007, -4/+30I agree, shallow and pedantic.
- t3know, on 11/24/2007, -1/+25believe that was an attempt at humor
- Muncher, on 11/24/2007, -1/+23Personally, I wanted to hear more of his Kermit the frog.
- Chibigoten, on 11/24/2007, -1/+23Maybe he was being passionate when he wrote his speech so that he could more accurately articulate his true feelings in front of a large crowd... Just a thought.
- cwshea, on 11/24/2007, -5/+27"Why are you still here?"
-Quagmire - eean, on 11/24/2007, -2/+23Reminds me of this show where the jokes never relate to the plot.
- anti_hax0r, on 11/24/2007, -0/+20don't you know??? the writers are on strike
- DesertDude, on 11/24/2007, -4/+23I'm dying to see the new Seth MacFarlane-less episodes of Family Guy. I especially want to see how they're going to voice Quagmire. This is going to be hysterical (not in a way Fox intends, though). Big, big cheese.
- JoeB4ever, on 11/24/2007, -4/+23because SNL is awesome now.
- Dorepoll, on 11/24/2007, -1/+16Perhaps.
- reddevil3, on 11/24/2007, -3/+18Most of these writers are middle-class. Very, very few writers probably make 180k+ a year.
Also, you have to understand that most writing jobs are not "steady". Shows can get canceled the next day. And why shouldn't they get money being made off of what they wrote? The whole industry depends on them. - giveer, on 11/24/2007, -3/+17Holy ***** - you know writers making 180,000 a year? Because I *AM* a writer (granted, I don't write for TV or make big bucks - but we still "know people who know people") and I've only HEARD of a couple famous people who make that much.
- asourapple, on 11/24/2007, -3/+17Jesus christ stop taking direct quotes from it. We all freaking watched it!
- OUChevelleSS, on 11/24/2007, -3/+15Funny and thoughtful? Yes. Impassioned? No.
- MrPeach, on 11/24/2007, -4/+16Doesn't anyone proofread these submissions? Day after day we see front page posts filled with improper homonyms, spelling errors and what not.
"gave and impassioned"
"in witch he land blasted"
Oh, the humanity! - vade79, on 11/24/2007, -4/+16***** money grubbing corporations, all of them.
- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -0/+12Um....people usually read their speeches off of a paper / teleprompter. Where have you been?
- halavais, on 11/24/2007, -1/+11witch - 1 : a woman thought to have evil magic powers 2 : a follower or practitioner of modern witchcraft 3 : an ugly or unpleasant old woman
- jobney76, on 11/24/2007, -1/+11To not look like a big ass I double checked to make sure there was no such phrase as "land blasting" that might work in the context given. These kids today and their slang. I did hesitate before I submitted but then realized that someone was going to do it if I did not.
Anyone who can touch type knows the feeling of thinking one thing and having your hands type something else. I thought if I just gave a simple comment it might keep someone else from making a rude one. - ICSU, on 11/24/2007, -0/+9100,000 median (source WGA)
- Lax32, on 11/24/2007, -2/+10The thing I love about the writers strike is that they hold all of the creative talent. Without them, networks dont have much of a voice to fight back with. They hold all the keys to the ability to connect with people, they hold all the big names people identify with.
- Rikkochet, on 11/24/2007, -0/+8"Fool me once.. Shame on...."
Sometimes that doesn't work so well. - JeffD, on 11/24/2007, -0/+8Huh? They're not suing anyone.
- anti_hax0r, on 11/24/2007, -6/+13have you ever watched Family Guy?
- davidave, on 11/24/2007, -0/+7i really hope the family guy manatees get their fair share :(
- NeoCortex, on 11/24/2007, -0/+7This writer's strike really grinds my gears.
- devinjohnson2, on 11/24/2007, -1/+8You must be a blast at parties.
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -0/+7Excuse me, do you know how to get to town?
Yeah...it's back the way you came. ****** shotgun* - diggless, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6do you believe you can find one executive at the fox broadcasting company that is not a millionaire?
- Mothrog, on 11/24/2007, -8/+14That speech was lame. It was a few obvious points strung together with anecdotes.
- krabat, on 11/24/2007, -3/+9Why can't he create new episodes of Family Guy with the same quality as this ***** bootlegged video?
- giveer, on 11/24/2007, -2/+8If you need to get pissed about something, get pissed about the reality shows you're being fed in their stead.
- gossipninja, on 11/24/2007, -4/+9I understand and to a large extent agree with the WGA on this whole strike business. However, I do think its lame that so many others are outta work because they want more residuals. I do think they should get the current dvd residual on all forms of content distribution, whether home video, iptv, etc. Whether they should get more or not is not my place to be the judge. But there are grips and line producers and equipment rental people, hell even the corner restaurant that serves the lunches is now hurting due to production ceasing and none of these people have a union to cut them a strike check. Imagine being a lighting tech or some other job on a show, and boom because some guy wants more pennies (and im sure its pennies per unit, yes it adds up) he now has no job for the holidays, no union to support him and its struggling to makes ends meet. That is really crappy.
and i do think its lame that the studios are saying they cant increase residuals (keep in mind if they do it for WGA they would have to do it for SAG and directors guild in a few months) because they count on dvd and other forms of post play profits to recoup investment money. Maybe they should not piss away money on over expensive ***** movies, not plaster my local mall with posters for some crap movie that shouldnt have even been greenlit (still pissed about seeing "nacho libre" ***** for 2 months everywhere). Serenity cost about 40 mil, made 100mil worldwide, yet they said they lost money once they factor in advertising for the movie, yet i didnt see ***** for this movie other then the occasional commerical. Somethings tells me 60mil + for advertising should have gotten more then a few commercials and that some exec now has a fat wallet. - TomRemixed, on 11/24/2007, -0/+5Did you watch the video? Part of his point in making that speech was to point out that most writer's are middle class. They aren't sitting on piles of cash trying to grub for more.
- magicaltrevor, on 11/24/2007, -0/+5I don't think you watch Family Guy.
