only, without the lipstick. - Exzhaton, on 09/07/2008, -3/+23Who in the ***** really cares? In the words of the great Gob Bluth, "COME ON!"
- thegamingguy, on 09/07/2008, -5/+25Why doesn't she also go buy a taser, visit underage/unwed mothers to be, and bring up every other "sore spot" that is being attached to her (fairly or not). I mean, wouldn't you want to stay away from private jets for awhile after that Ebay goof?
- zenithmbr, on 09/07/2008, -5/+17wait how is this news-worthy?
- hardwarehank, on 09/07/2008, -4/+14She said she "PUT" it on ebay. That means she listed it, not that it sold. The fact that it sold later through a plane broker for slightly less (and of course it sold at a loss - it was USED) apparently doesn't matter. I hate this kind of crap.
- Rotzooi, on 09/07/2008, -4/+12That's fine, but come November: DON'T VOTE WITH YOUR *****!
Thank you. - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -9/+16I want to be the first to the join the mile high club, with her, on her NEW plane. Sure she is already a charter member.
- aresef, on 09/07/2008, -0/+7McCain said she sold it on eBay, which was most definitely a lie. It didn't sell. Three times. Then they sold it through a broker at a loss.
- cygnus2112, on 09/07/2008, -4/+11Doesn't Obama have a private jet?
- SRSco, on 09/07/2008, -3/+9Goddamnit. I unchecked all Political content. Quit trying to sneak it through other sections. I don't want to see this ***** anymore.
It is totally normal for a candidate of a major office to fly around on a privately financed personal jet.
Obama's been doing it for months, back when McCain was still flying coach to save money. Should we mock Obama now? Get real. - timeshifter, on 09/07/2008, -4/+10Buried for posting a political story under Comedy. I thought disabling political issues in my digg profile would help. Please post appropriately.
- briguymaine, on 09/07/2008, -0/+6clever.
- zacharytelschow, on 09/07/2008, -7/+13Buried: irrelevant, inaccurate, waste of time/space.
- HappyScrappy, on 09/07/2008, -5/+10Also kinda funny given that at the Republican concention, Romney said one way to conserve energy is it keep "Al Gore's private jet" on the ground.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPeu-yc9jPA
Al Gore doesn't have a private jet. But McCain does of course, and now Sarah Palin has one too (although that might be temporary). - DD2CC2U, on 09/07/2008, -4/+9Because they will not let you know just how ignorant Palin is about policy.
- richirwin, on 09/07/2008, -4/+9I can't wait until my kids study "How God Created Man" in science class.
I'm sure there will be a lab with that. - susan56, on 09/07/2008, -5/+10I agree with Exzhaton - the more we talk about her the better the repubs feel.
- malex, on 09/07/2008, -3/+8Personally, I'm just against censorship.
- enclaved, on 09/07/2008, -4/+9exactly how delusional are you?
- DD2CC2U, on 09/07/2008, -13/+17If you want more of the same failed Bush policies vote McCain.
If you like how Cheney had his hidden agenda as VP vote Palin.
If you want change and very good efficient government vote Obama and Biden for 08. - milkycoffee, on 09/07/2008, -1/+5not skeered but would love to skeet on the plane :S
- voyetra8, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4I think the issue is that McCain is going around telling people she sold it on Ebay, for a profit:
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - As he launched his new ethics and reform campaign for the White House in Cedarburg, Wis., Friday morning, John McCain told his favorite anti-corruption story about his new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "You know what I enjoyed the most, she took the luxury jet bought by her predecessor and sold it on eBay," he said. "And made a profit."
It turns out McCain went a little too far. As Palin says in her stump speech, she campaigned against the $2.7 million jet that Gov. Frank Murkowski bought. When she won, she said, "I put it on eBay." But she never says that's how she sold it. State officials said they sold it through a broker for $2.1 million - a loss. In his second rally in Michigan Friday, McCain didn't bring it up again. Palin repeated her accurate line.
McCain's campaign acknowledged the eBay bid fell through. Spokesman Brian Rogers said, "It was a symbol of corruption, and Governor Palin's actions sent a strong message to the people that she was cleaning up a broken system." - AntBing, on 09/07/2008, -12/+16I'm not voting Republican because of her, "change", war experience...or any other ***** that the candidate are promoting as the reason to pick them. I'm voting Republican because I don't want national healthcare and I don't want a tax increase to pay for lazy moochers to live comfortably.
- treehugger87, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4How hypocritical can you get? You've got multiple accounts, and with this one, the only thing you do is bury stories that you don't agree with and post this one SPAM comment.
Jason Thrush (DigitalFilth) A 31 year-old male from Goddard, KS (US) who joined Digg on September 5th, 2008 - cheesypasta, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4She may have lied about selling the plane on ebay, but she did realize the plane was over the top and did eventually sell the plane for a loss. This story just isn't newsworthy. There are plenty of other problems with her as VP than this issue.
- treehugger87, on 09/07/2008, -1/+5Indeed, it seems that all you do with your life is is bury stories critical of Palin. Talk about being an irrelevant waste of space.
- DiggsOnlyJew, on 09/07/2008, -0/+4Yeah those corporations avoiding taxes and supplying millions of jobs to Americans... ***** those bastards.
- piratearggghhh, on 09/07/2008, -10/+14The real moochers living comfortably are corporations that avoid paying taxes, politicians, and government contractors involved in this war that everyone else pays for.
- mikelieman, on 09/07/2008, -1/+5So, she's FISCALLY IRRESPONSIBLE, too?
- voyetra8, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3The issue is that ***McCain*** is lying about it:
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - As he launched his new ethics and reform campaign for the White House in Cedarburg, Wis., Friday morning, John McCain told his favorite anti-corruption story about his new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "You know what I enjoyed the most, she took the luxury jet bought by her predecessor and sold it on eBay," he said. "And made a profit."
You don't care that he's lying to the public about something as small as this? I don't know about you, but I see lying as a deep character flaw. - rthakidn, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Since the Obama campaign clearly picked Biden for his "experience", aren't you somewhat afraid that Joe will be calling the shots just as you say Cheney is?? Hhmm? Now you have a guy who thinks segregation is a solution, has a different opinion about the surge/war than your candidate and basically is a career politician for change,. as "president behind the scenes. That's change for ya!
- mikelieman, on 09/07/2008, -2/+5Scared of a nitwit who can't teach her kid to use a rubber and believes the earth is less than 10,000 years old?
Yes. I'm scared of the damage she could do in a position of responsibility.
She's not qualified for a seat on a School Board in a real state.
Didn't she leave a 5,000 person town with a 20 MILLION DOLLAR DEBT? If you're a REAL CONSERVATIVE, that would scare the ***** out of you, too. - emeralddragon, on 09/07/2008, -6/+9Poor Obamabots...someone else is a celebrity politician and they just can't take it. Only Obama is supposed to be in the media spotlight! So rather than talk policy (wasn't this supposed to be a different kind of campaign?), they just digg negative blog after negative blog...
Sounds desperate. - DiggsOnlyJew, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3You're right, I'm so shameful of a vice presidential candidate chartering a private jet for campaigning purposes... Obama charters a jet for his campaign and tells Americans they need to use less oil, who should be shameful?
- rthakidn, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Nice argument.
- NVMojo, on 09/07/2008, -2/+5This is how the Party for the rich does things! On the backs of the working class just like the last 8 years.
- Exzhaton, on 09/07/2008, -5/+8I'm not really aligning myself to either side, I'm just tired of seeing this crap on Digg.
- HappyScrappy, on 09/07/2008, -1/+4Obama and McCain agreed upon debates several months back. There will be 3 Presidential and 1 Vice-Presidential debate.
There are never debates between the parties until after the conventions (after the official nominations). - inactive, on 09/07/2008, -0/+3Hmm... a hateful apocalyptic talibornagain who might be one 72-year-old cancer patient's heartbeat away from the big red button. What's scary about that?
- spiritflare1, on 09/07/2008, -3/+6The pilot flying her jet is gotta have a huge grin on his face.
- Surferess, on 09/07/2008, -1/+4CrackerPat is a hard-core Republican, I believe, and I suspect he will vote with his member and all the other Republican dicks. *just kidding, couldn't resist*
- Axias, on 09/07/2008, -1/+3Oh please, this 'Jet' story is TOTALLY RELEVANT. Every angle that can be found to bring up 'jets' illuminates people of the ***** that is Sarah Paulin.
The obvious lies about selling a jet on Ebay, YES OBVIOUS lies, it was in McCains opening statement, which means DEFINITELY DELIBERATELY SCRIPTED, and no John, she didn't 'turn a profit', she sold it under market value to an associate.
A deliberate lie is one thing, but a twisted mother / daughter baby scandal where getting on a jet is at once the most improbably and reckless and dangerous thing a person could do in this situation is also why ANY jet story is perfectly relevant. If the talking points change on an hourly basis, then yes, expect some people to try and steer them where it matters.
She 'ruptured her membranes', 3rd trimester, with a down syndrome baby, and then decides to take a little flight.. How long of a flight would be reasonable in such a case? Look it up, you'll be shocked.. oh, and LIED about her doctors consent to do this, drove two hours beyond the best healthcare centers in the state to her backwoods doctor, who has since been scrubbed from said hospital..
DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? She's either a maniacal mother and twisted mascochist, or she's lying and hiding something. Hiding and lying about what? Most likely that TRIG isn't hers, that she lied to the Alaskan senate, who honored her for this 'achievement', that she lied to every individual who she's come into contact with about her pregnancy. There's NO evidence of her being pregnant at all, except ONE wrongly dated picture, that looks like she has a pillow under her dress, otherwise, ALL the video and picture evidence shows 2nd and 3rd trimester pictures of her in form fitting clothing, and no hint of pregnancy. There's a video of her doing grueling backwoods tracks in late 3rd trimester(!), NOBODY KNEW or could tell she was pregnant. She is quoted saying how she loves how intense and gut wrenching it was. She's NOT PREGNANT,MORE LIES! My wife is late 2nd trimester right now, NO ***** WAY is she doing that trek, and she ran 3-5 miles a few times a week before the baby too. I'm still calling *****, and I don't care that democrats don't want this to be an issue. She's a VP candidate who, by actuary tables, has I believe about a 1:2.3 chance of getting a free presidency. We can't have people like this in office at the national level. We HAVE TO KNOW THE FULL FACTS CONCERNING THESE OBVIOUS LIES. It's damning character evidence of someone absolutely unfit for the office.
That's not half the facts either, her daughter out of school with MONO for 8 months? PLEASE. I work in a hospital, 2-3 months of fatigue..3-4 months would be SEVERE, 8 months? *****. This ONLY makes sense if she was pregnant. And announcing shes 5 months preggers now?! How convenient as that would make TRIG impossible to be hers.. Yeah, she LOOKS 5 months pregnant, I mean EVERYONE could tell she was pregnant the day before the announcement.. Right? PLEASE, SHES NOT 5 MONTHS PREGNANT. And oh yeah, NOW she'll be getting married.. Not a week ago, NO ONE knew any of these little facts a week ago, but NOW she'll be getting married. I'm damned curious how she's gonna pull a baby out of her ass in 4 months. Let's see how many pictures of her pregnant come out too, I'm sure we'll see the logical progression of big, bigger, huge pictures.. Oh right, no we won't , off limits. I mean hell, If her mom isn't even going to talk to the press or take interviews, we expect her pregnant daughter to get press exposure?
FACE IT, with her background she must have been HORRIFIED her daughter was pregnant. Her abstinence only and fundamentalist views, a baby out of wedlock?! Don't forget that this is technically statutory rape too, to a daddy with a myspace page which literally said "I DON'T WANT BABYS", an inside joke for sure, of course everyone knows he knocked up that other girl in 8th grade (Hmm, wonder why he didn't marry her?). Oh and I'm sure Sarah was like:"HI! WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!" "I'm sure you'll want to do the right thing, you know, supporting the baby, marriage, a job, insurance would be nice, good luck getting maternity, and woops, government funds have kinda been slashed to help you guys out, and uhm, weren't you paying attention, I mean c'mon, we spent a lot of money on abstinence only sex education.." Must have been a helluva conversation..
I disagree with Obama saying to back off on this. I see he believes it to be the high road, and its political expediency, but:
There's no 'low road' in exposing lies and hypocrisy, and there's no 'high road' either. It's dredging up ***** which stinks. But it's the only way, and it's necessary. And we have to expel it, get it as far away from us as we can. Or else we'll be drowning in it. And right now the stink is about as close to unbearable as it's ever been, and still, a huge percentage of people just continue to focus on the everchanging talking points of the moment, never stopping to 'smell the roses'.. Well, when you finally stop and take in that deep breath of realization, you're gonna be in for a shock. - Differcult, on 09/07/2008, -3/+5Oh no! Not a Jet!
Is it just me, or is everything they pull out on Palin a joke.... - stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2Paid for by Private Funds.... BP, perhaps?
McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign...
Sold in on Ebay? No, she didn't. Made a profit? No, she didn't. Semantics do matter when McCain is blatantly spreading this lie. - SRSco, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2I'm a liberal, and I'm voting for Obama. I just like to read about things that actually matter, not this anti-McCain/Palin propaganda that is so damned juvenile. This isn't comedy btw, because it's not funny.
I do read political news, just not from the Jed Report or Daily Kos. - ChuckDees, on 09/07/2008, -1/+3No one has reported this story as inaccurate yet?
I love how if you cant or wont be able to comment on the content of a story.
You just claim it is inaccurate. - cygnus2112, on 09/07/2008, -1/+3The Republican Party has received more campaign money than the Democrat Party. How did Obama afford his private jet?
- voyetra8, on 09/07/2008, -0/+2Because ***McCain*** is lying about it:
