I think little children are unintentionally brainwashed by parents and grandparents at an early age to think that reptiles are scary and dangerous. Did you know that there are only 4 species of poisonous snakes and 2 species of poisonous spiders in all of north America. - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -8/+46Thats my ***** news channel. It's Randy McIlwain!!11!!
- johnxstone, on 10/12/2007, -10/+45Lizards hate black people.
- shad0w, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34It seems to me like the lizard likes black people.
- misinformation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Daddy Longlegs are not venomous.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daddy_long-legs_spider#Misconceptions - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22yes, thanks for the play-by-play of the 10-second video we all just watched
- xoxuxox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gila_monster
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13An ooold classic. I love how cool the handler looks while the reporter freaks out.
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16How can this be true when Brown Recluses and Black Widows live around my house (Brown Recluses are considered more poisonous than a Black Widow)? Two poisonous spiders that I know for a fact are dangerous, yet I know that there are others as well that live around here (I just can't remember their names). I call BS to that claim though I might agree on the 4 poisonous snakes because I can only name a couple that I'm aware of.
- mlwarrior, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14that is a really weird reaction, remix here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8peHthKuDE&mode=related&search= - Vineman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I saw that live on TV when it happened.
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This is kinda old but I have never seen the full version before. Thank God it is on youtube. Very Funny
- igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8if you're going to make a stupid ass joke; do it right
1. it would be "their"... POSSESIVE
2. it would be "penises"... PLURAL - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Um. Humans are averse to spiders and snakes and reptiles on a primal level. How do you think we've lasted so long and been able to evolve? Because built into our brains has always been this fear of certain things. It has nothing to do with being ingrained by the parents...
Watch a monkey around similar creatures if you don't believe it. - babylonian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"UG GGG GGHGHGHH WHATTTIF- !"
- SFX112, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I think it's a totally acceptable reaction when an animal goes for your junk.
- jzimmerman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Hobo Spiders are poisonous as well.
http://www.hobospider.com/info/ - MasterGrief, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7It's better to be terrified of something and stay away from it than to be too fearless, get bitten and die.
That said, I like lizards. - igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"WHAT THE FU--::falls::"
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4the statistics are what i read in a book but it's possible they are wrong. but seriously, they are not that dangerous. the poisonous snakes are dangerous unless you are rushed to the hospital. the spiders are not-so-much. Black widow bites are overrated because back-in-the-day they used to happen often in outhouses. meaning people go bit in "sensitive" ares. kinda funny but not a joke.
anyway, i was not saying to be fearless. i just wanted to say that people shouldn't be blindly terrified. Instead, they should be taught by parents and teacher about reptiles and insects and what to fear and what not to fear. - j0se, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5That made my day. hah.
- m0oSe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Meh, that remix isn't as funny as the real thing. They took out the sound of the guy when the lizzard first jumped, that's half of what was so funny.
- ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh my god that is the single funniest thing I've ever seen, thank you Mr Chocolate
- radicaldementia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Almost all spiders are poisonous, however many cannot bite through human skin, and no spider will bit without being heavily provoked. Check out http://www.spiderzrule.com/spider1.htm for lots of information.
" In North America, six kinds of spiders harm people, they are - the Brown Recluse, Sac, Black Widow, Brown Widow, Red-legged Widow and the Varied Widow. Four of the Widow females are known to bite humans. The bites of these six spiders often cause mild reactions. Usually a person irritates a spider several times for it to bite you." - missflibbles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Maybe 2000 people liked it.
- MoofTheStoof, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's true about the 2 species of harmful spiders: Brown Recluse and Black Widow - both live in the south and southwest. As for venomous snakes, I think that number might vary by region. I'm in Arkansas, and we have six species of venomous snakes, in the state. Copperhead, Water Moccasin, I think three types of Rattle Snake and (I think) Coral snake in the extreme south of the state.
I've never heard of a venomous lizard. - Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I seriously did one of those temporarily not breathing laughs watching this. People in surrounding cublicles must think I'm insane.
- johndi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't blame you, but your book was wrong. Cottonmouths, Copperheads, Coral Snakes, and Rattlesnakes all live in the Continental USA, but there are more than four species of rattlesnakes. I don't know what poisonous snakes live in Mexico and Canada.
Spider bites are way overrated
http://spiders.ucr.edu/necrotic.html - MrChocolate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Any time man. I remember watching for the first time and falling on the floor laughing. Good times.
- misinformation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Snakes are used as a standard fear response gauge in lab monkeys. Studies have shown that infant monkies without a mother present will not be scared, though if the mother is present, a fear response will be learned and imitated.
- Zeush8su, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I remember this,That's some funny *****!!!
- zerogravitas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Actually, I have read someplace credible that in humans, even as infants, there is a recognition of spiders and snakes. I am sure part of the fear is probably learned. But it wouldn't surprise me if there is a strong instinctual component to the fear of snakes and spiders.
And if only that instinctual fear could be converted consistently into great TV... - daone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1agree with Juanito,
The reporter freaked for a brief moment but regained his composure after a few moments.
At least the guy had a sense of humor about it. - berzerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ha! classic. no slow-mo replay?
- kampfy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm crying. Pure comedy.
- jayripley123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3thanks borninda! i did not know that and i will be using that information to impress my friends tomorrow
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Some of ***** can make an argument outta any story, its funny as *****, let it be, lol
- SteveIreland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is an old classic. Great reflexes on that guy. He just girates for a second, and then tips right over like a bowling pin. I can see swatting at the thing, but falling over? Just shameful.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm surprised he didn't squash the bloody thing. I would think my first reaction to a leaping lizard would be to make fist and pound the thing into goo. Especially if it is going for the junk.
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1not sure about thre monkeys but i was never afraid of spiders and reptiles because as a child i was exposed to many different non venemous ones while being taught which ones a re venemous. I use to have a corn snake too but i gave it back after getting a dog.
- jking2100, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am originally from the DFW Arlington Area and this report is usually a very composed person, this is absolutely the most hilarious thing I have ever viewed
- editmachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1His name is Michael Scott and no he doesn't work at nbc5 anymore.
- molsen311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1iit's not that we're brainwashed to be scared. it's a biological function to be weary of strange things. better to be safe than sorry. our species wouldn't have survived this long if we weren't cautious of things
- radarx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw this LIVE a couple of years back in Dallas, Texas. It was, in a word, awesome.
- puke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm pretty sure this dude doesn't work for nbc5 anymore. But this was pretty bigtime when it happened here.
- JackCrowley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that is got to be the funniest damn clip I have seen so far.
"What the ffff.... get this thing off me man, get this thing off me."
"What is this, you didn't tell me they could jump!"
man he really really freaks out. - Moment, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man, I haven't laughed like this in a long time. That was umbelivable.
I'm a happy man now. :D - Boomhauer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that is the funniest video I've seen online LOL
- Renderer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He doesn't work for NBC5 any longer. And yes, they showed that clip so many times on all the local stations here.
- juanito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0moderately funny, but don't believe the hype.
