- h3nry, on 10/12/2007, -10/+124am i the only one who thinks "comedy" was an inappropriate category for this video?
- twitmer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+80I think I counted thirteen shots by the officers before the suspect collapsed....that's pretty crazy that he didn't go down sooner.
- c5mjohn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+62The guy, Marquise Hudspeth, had a cell phone and not a gun. He couldn't have taken a shot. But she phone was silver and shiny so the cops thought he had a gun (plus he was holding it up and aiming like it was a gun). The police chief resigned because of this shooting. The cops were not charged because it was determined justifiable.

Dying with your pants barely hanging from your waist as you reveal your hellokitty boxers/underpants... Priceless - Racerx52, on 10/12/2007, -8/+52Huh, That second camera made 100% the difference.

Did you actually watch the video? Did you read any of the text in the video? Can you read at all?
The guy turns around and shoots at one of the officers. If that officer hadn't ducked, he would be dead. Thats when they start shooting. They're justified and you know it. You're probably just some ignorant little ***** who thinks that if he says '***** tha police' and acts gangsta enough and sides with his homiez that he will be accepted by the cool kids in his school. Get a ***** clue. - Thathurts, on 10/12/2007, -21/+65taser?
he had a gun and was pointing it at police officers and you think they should have used a taser?
also after all those bullets you think a taser would have taken him down? - c5mjohn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35I just realized how biased that report from the Sierra Times was. This is a blurb from the NY Times.
National Briefing | South: Louisiana: Police Cleared Of Civil Rights Violations
Published: March 31, 2004
The Justice Department has cleared Shreveport police officers of any civil rights violations in the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man that led to protests and the resignation of the police chief. On March 15, 2003, the victim, Marquise Hudspeth, led the the police on a high-speed chase, then left his car, struggled with officers and slipped away waving a cellphone. The police mistook it for a gun and shot him eight times in the back.

Depending if he was on certain drugs or not it can take a lot to take a man down.
- CrazyNorman, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32It's amazing how we just watch a man get gunned down and die (yes, with good cause, but still), and think nothing of it.
- fbrg72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22You are right, this happened in Shreveport, LA. I live there and I remember all the fuss it made. The suspect was carrying a cellphone but in the officers' defense, it was silver and he was carrying it like a weapon and as you saw, pointed it at them several times. The officers were completely justified in the shooting and were later exonerated. After this happened, my city was "blessed" with the appearances of Sharpton and Jackson.
- dustyshadow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26"that's pretty crazy that he didn't go down sooner."
cocaine's a hell of a drug - LeberMac, on 10/12/2007, -7/+27Christ did the cops' shots land or not? (We know at least one did.) If the perp took any rounds I didn't see him flinch.
If either of the two officers fired and missed from THAT distance, they need to spend more time at the range. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19@rodzilla
45 caliber. That means .45 of an inch, not 45 mm (that would have a barrel over 2 inches wide...) - JD52, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Two possibilities why it took so many shots.
1. Officer was a piss poor shot.
2 Guy was out of his mind on something.
I suspect #2 is correct. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+27I guess I don't think about it when I flush a turd either.
- fuzzboxer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Honestly, I have to give credit to whoever put this video together. It really puts it into perspective with all of the other videos out there that only show one side to things.
- h3nry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13and your a typical racists *****.
- h3nry, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16and what, pray tell, does this video have to do with traffic cops issuing tickets?
- guregu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Would you want to wrestle a man to the ground that is holding a gun? I know I wouldn't.
- Shivalyn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Uhm, actually the real world is where you die/get incapacitated with one or two shots. The movies is where you can take thirteen bullets and still have tea in the morning.
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17@racerx52 (#6295910)
Not entirely. If you slow down camera 1, as was done, you can clearly see that the subject was carrying a weapon. He was also walking briskly away from two officers who had their weapons drawn but were not firing, and walking towards an open business. Don't get me wrong, camera 2 is a much more damning video to the subject, but had camera 1 been the only video in evidence, it would still be strong evidence, once it was properly analyzed and all that analysis presented to a jury along with the rest of the evidence in the case. - spd214, on 10/12/2007, -12/+21Think of these guys and what officers go through next time you are cussing that cop for giving you a ticket.
- autodata, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15He didn't have a gun, he had a cell phone. See above
- bluestick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I've seen this video before. The suspect is definately carrying a cell phone, Not a gun. There was no "shot" when he turned around and aimed his "gun" at the officer. The original posting of this story elaborated on this issue alot more.
Summary
Stupid ***** up guy with cell phone + Scared cops with guns = dead ***** up guy - nightowl313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Well, would you mind showing us the incident with three camera shots? I would love to see a third angle. Link please?
- 1longtime, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16"Tackling" an armed man? Are you insane? I can't think of a better reason for using deadly force on a suspect.
Actually, the first officer should have fired sooner (while at near point blank range in angle #2) when the suspect pointed his weapon at the other officer pulling up. I'm not sure if that's commendable for the officer closest to the suspect for showing restraint, or if he should be reprimanded for allowing the suspect to raise his weapon at a fellow officer.
Tackling. You're hilarious. - TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13"He didn't have a gun, he had a cell phone. See above"
Well that makes it all better. That assures me that I can be in a shooting stance with a shiny object pointing at a police officer and then I'll know i'll ONLY get tasered.......
I like how all the idiots pass judgment on these two cops when they have no clue what it's like to be on officer in that situation... - zero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I already know I'm going to get buried down for this but for all the people saying the police weren't justified I ask you at what point do you think a cop should be able to use deadly force? Even if the suspect didn't have a gun he had something that he portrayed as a weapon. I'm sorry but a cop's life is a lot more important than someone that is willing to do what the suspect did. It always makes me laugh that most of the people that don't like cops are the ones that have the most run ins with the police. Yes there are crooked cops just like there are crooked doctors, teachers, priests, CEOs and just about every other occupation but seriously grow up and quit playing the little "***** the police" game.
- Dayz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11did that second cop use the teabag approach?
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Jesus, is it that hard to make a youtube link on the page?
- autodata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, any remotely intelligent person would be able to work out that holding a cell phone or any object like that when you have a gun pointed at your head is a bad, bad idea.
- tokyopimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It's not that he's a bad shot, it looks like most of the shots hit. It's that the suspect probably had so much adrenaline pumping through him that it took a short while for him to fall, and he could be on some major drugs.
People don't get shot once and fly through the air like in movies. - pasher1221, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I have chosen to only watch the first video. I now have justication to go smash and grab my local electronics store.
- bjsiders, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The cops rather obviously didn't realize it was a cell phone. The one on the left ducks when the guy swings his arm back, clearly displaying his belief that the suspect is carrying a pistol. It's hard to imagine a situation where a cop in body armor with a gun drawn ducks a guy who he knows to be holding a cell phone.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7dang, wish I had a cellphone that could fire 9mm rounds
- mrcpu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Firstly, I think anyone with a gun who manages to somehow get out of a confrontation with the police is damn lucky! Bottom line is that as soon as he pulled the gun out and started waving it around like that they pretty much had the right to use deadly force.
On one hand I give the cops credit for not shooting him until he fired the first shot (and missed) but on the other hand I think they shouldn't have let him fire the first shot as he might NOT have missed and then someone would have had to explain to his wife why she's now a widow. - MrFrosty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If he did have a cellphone its just tough titties for him. He brandished it like a firearm and took the consequences. I feel sorry for the officers in this case.
- Rayman727, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Isn't this the shooting where the suspect was pointing his cellphone at the cops? I don't think he had a gun.
- direlemming, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I used to work for an ambulance co. and we got a call to go to a apartment where some dude was held up inside and wouldn't come out for the cops just after we got there he kicked the steel door off its hinges jumped down from the 2nd story landing broke both tibia's got up and charged 14 cops with a sword in his hands they opened up on him by the time he finally stopped at there feet there was a hold big enough to put my arm through his chest to the other side thats what PCP dose to people that dude on that vid went down fast compared to that dude i was with..!!!
- OP100, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@tubatechno "These were 9mm pistols. 9mm does not have any stopping power."
Just last week a guy killed 32 people with a 9mm. That wasn't in the movies. Debating stopping power of a round is retarded. - c6mjohn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Here are longer versions of the same clip from YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt4XijzNzQg Shooting Clip angle 2 - autodata, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8The guy had a cell phone, not a gun. See links above.
- Scheissen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've seen a the same incident with three camera shots. I don't know why this video only has two.
- andergriff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I couldn't be a cop. I'd be shooting first and asking questions later. Too many crazed druggies walking the streets.
- 13B1303, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9@rodzilla (^ faster than me)
LOL 45mm ??? you do know that's 1.77 inches. I'm sure you meant 45-cal. but your mistake demonstrates your ignorance on the subject. A 9mm has plenty of stopping power and is still manageable for an officer to shoot multiple times and maintain a pretty tight grouping. - filipeanut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think these cops did what they had to do. Whether you have a gun or not, if you have something pointed at me as if it were a gun after a damn chase like this I will shoot your ass 25 times. On the flip side, I have a family god damnit, so you won't see me flashing some sliver cell phone at a cop with his gun drawn.
- TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"Uhm, actually the real world is where you die/get incapacitated with one or two shots. The movies is where you can take thirteen bullets and still have tea in the morning."
Uh...you're still in the movies. These were 9mm pistols. 9mm does not have any stopping power. Also, this guy was believed to be on drugs. Sometimes in the real world you can get incapacitated with one or two shots. But then again MOST of the time it takes considerably more, hence why the cops hit him 8 times.
I hate it when idiots get all their gun information from the movies. - DrThunder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why is it that how low you sag your pants it is directly proportional to how big a piece of ***** you are?
