- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -4/+119This defies logic. Terrorists would want the bomb to go off before anyone found it, they wouldnt even put ONE LED on it flashing, never mind an attention grabbing sign with a flashing cartoon character giving you the finger. This is stupid beyond belief. Seriously, SWAT teams were sent to look at these instead of sitting back cleaning their rifles waiting for a real terror threat. STUPID STUPID

That is the funniest Fox News screenshot I have ever seen. - Xageroth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+57What the *****?!
"A bomb squad officer removed it and authorities blasted it with a water cannon around 10 a.m. to render it useless."
Go U.S.A!!! - supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+48If they didnt call them packages, and called them LED LIGHTS WITH A CARTOON ON THEM GIVING YOU THE FINGER, people would not be scared and they would realize how stupid this all is.
- Petronski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36People are WAY TOO paranoid right now.
- bherring, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34People are stupid. I knew a guy in Olympia, WA who forgot an old 'portable' typewriter in the middle of a park. That afternoon the bomb squad was called out remove a suspicious item. Paranoia is funny, until someone gets hurt.
- Depthfunction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31BREAKING NEWS: The Mooninites have joined forces with al Qaeda! America is doomed!
- Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31So if I throw some random old motherboard into the street in an American city these days, does it spontaneously turn into a "terrorist threat"?
Are surplus electronics stores going to start running background checks? All those circuit boards, you know. SOME of them must be terroist devices. - richardweed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30People need to chill out. I would be glad to find one of those signs, it would be hanging in my room right now... hell in fact I might make one lol
- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29It wasnt the media taking down the mooninite sign. It was a swat team full of retards who were called in by retards and led by a retard.
They should all be fired and re-hired as walmart greeter. - supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Last year it was Super Mario Brothers power cubes scaring Americans:
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/02/tiny-ohio-town-freaked-out-by-mario-prank/ - Rhine23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Well they are going to get a lot more publicity now. All publicity is good right?
- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -9/+31@ Cleanlyness:
I can read very well. Read more into the story and you will eventually find the map of what states were involved in the promotion. STATES all across America, you *****.
As far as my education and what piss poor place. I was educated in Toronto, Canada which has a higher education level than any city in the United States Of America. So lick my ass and suck on my balls *****. - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19No, as an American, i'm going to have to say that a good portion of america is definitely retarded.
- jmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17What I don't understand is why the news keeps calling them "Packages".
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20who has no sense of humor? ***** off and die
- NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16What the... fack... what is wrong with this country... -_- It was a bunch of kids hired by adult swim to hang LED ad signs... HOW THE HECK DOES THAT TURN INTO A TERRORIST ISSUE???
Is everyone in this country INSANE? @__@ "It is outrageous, in a post 9/11 world, that a company would use this type of marketing scheme" Is this guy retarded??? Our country should have adapted securities after 9/11 and then stopped freaking out... -_- not go haywire everytime someone see's something electronic that shouldn't be there, for the rest of existance... XD
Fox News is still running segments on it now and then... IF ANYTHING, these guys should maybe get a small fine or something... with no charges against them!!! If the citys has a problem with it, take it up with Adult Swim!
The News said these things were even found in CHICAGO!!! XDXD AWESOME! I'm gonna go look for them...XD 10 cities around America!
The Chicago Police have caught 1 guy so far, and are pressing no charges so far... but they claim "The wires and lights could fool anyone into thinking its a bomb." and that the marketing sceme is "dangerous"... GOD PEOPLE ARE SOOO STUPID... retarted is actually a word that describes these people... -__-
Digg, now is the time to mail these cities about this issue!!! EVERYONE mail these cities, to convince them that the public is not as retarted as they are!!! XD - JimLahey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Hey! Im Jim Lahey!
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17"Is America retarded?" Nope, just Boston. We have a bunch of these in Chicago and nobody cares.

- dieinafire, on 10/12/2007, -11/+23rofl they blew up one of the signs...
if i were cartoon network, i'd retaliate and blow up something of boston's... - hobbers, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Wow, that Fox News screen cap is hilarious, they censored the middle finger. Look closely:
http://freeridevideo.com/nahc4/seren/files/1170276767764.jpg - supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14They were hanging a glowing sign of a moononite. Lighten up. What happened to freedom or death?
America is becoming too pussy, man. Freedom or Death! It says that on any washington license plate. - kcap122, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11that MAY be new hampshire you're referring to. "Live Free or Die" is their state motto.
after they found the first one, couldn't they just leave the rest alone without "defusing" a bunch of Lite-Brite's? come on.
750 thousand jabronis is ALOT of money. and they want cartoon network to pay? f*ck that *****, the mayor should pay for it himself for a severe lapse in judgement. how many rapes, murders, and burglaries could have been stopped with the resources wasted on this bs? - xenoploid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12NATION. OF. FEAR.
- sTiVo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I turned on the news tonight to watch the bomb squad robot SHOOT ONE OF THESE to see if it exploded! Unbelievable...
- brokencode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I can't even believe that they arrested the guy that did this. I'm losing faith in this country. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070201/ap_on_re_us/suspicious_devices
- pencilneck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Police in my city have been put on notice that a "muslim looking youth" was seen purchasing 7 Lite Brites!
- saintdesy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10911: 911, What is your emergency?
Some Guy: Yeah, there are these suspicious devices on poles at the intersection of 60th and B.
911: What do they look like, sir?
Some Guy: Well, they have 3 large, circular lights, one red one yellow and one green! Oh no! The red light just activated! I think it just armed!
911: Don't panic, sir. Clear the area and we'll have the bomb squad out there to blow them up as soon as possible. - honds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I love this. I live in Boston and I have seen dozens of police and "Tactical vans" driving around all day. I woke up to 4 just chilling outside my apartment building.
It'll be amusing until someone cries wolf for something that is a real threat. - kakwakas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I'm going to do that.
Seriously. - supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Maybe the US needs to hire Mr. Lahey, trailer park supervisor. He would clear up all the ***** bomb threats.
http://digg.com/videos/comedy/The_Best_Of_Mr_Lahey_From_Trailer_Park_Boys - supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think in general people who tell other people to "grow up" or say things like "its a grown up thing, you wouldnt understand" or "people who HAVE a job dont know about these cartoons nowadays" etc.. are basically just humorless *****.
Its a ***** sign of a cartoon giving you the finger. Its obviously not a bomb. And if someone attached it to my house I would laugh it off. Its a MAGNETIC attachment.
Dont worry Osama isnt going to jump out of your cereal he has been dead for years. Notice Al Qaeda videos with him have ceased for years now only his 2nd in command speaks. So stop crapping your pants. All you have to worry about now is pissed off Iraqi Terrorists who had their families blown to bits in the last few years. Al Qaeda is pretty much toast. Relax. Breathe deeply. And many people who watch ATHF are as grown up as you are, their anuses just arent as tightly shut. - SIRBERUS, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13In the defense of Americans... they are kept in a 24/7 terror-alert, so I guess its expected that they will lose their sense of humor until FOX issues a statement saying they can feel happy again.
- NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8OMG Everyone! It's on Ebay! I want one! XD
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=mooninites&category0=&submitSearch=Search - hhOwArdrOarKk, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15That sounds like terrorist talk to me. Where are you from supermanred?
- ITAvenger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It's not all of America.
The little signs were in Boston; New York City; Los Angeles, California; Chicago, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Austin, Texas; San Francisco, California; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Haven't heard anything about bomb scares here in Portland, and CNN asked the Seattle PD if there were any calls about them there. Nope.
I hate how the media is still calling it a bomb hoax, like the guys were trying to make people think they were bombs. It was a freaking marketing campaign that got misinterpreted. - KineticFlow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I ordered an air compressor for use with air brushes.
The compressor is a shiny metal tube that holds about 4L inside the tank (think about 4L milk)
When it crossed the US-Canada border, something must have happened...
because when I received the item, the compressor was split into two.
They cut the tube and used glue of some sort to put them together... - cptshamrock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Where can I get one of these signs? I must have one!
- davidsmero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's a ***** light-bright for christ sake
- pencilneck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7http://4130-products.com/ebay/shiny.jpg
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Koosebane == humorless *****.
Seriously. You're gonna have a panic attack or a heart attack living your life like that. I hate ATHF and even I thought this was pretty funny.
Did it hurt you? No.
Did it damage anything? No.
Was it threatening? No.
Did it look like a bomb? No.
Fine them for littering if you're that anal about it punishing them and move on. - fauxpaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7No. Stoked.
- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@Cleanlyness (your name is misspelled!)
“The packages in question are magnetic lights that pose no danger,” Turner said in a statement.
It said the devices have been in place for two to three weeks in 10 cities: Boston; New York; Los Angeles; Chicago; Atlanta; Seattle; Portland, Ore.; Austin, Texas; San Francisco; and Philadelphia.
Most of the major US mainstream media outlets even have a map showing where the devices were placed. MSNBC has a cool pic of one. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6did you see the size of those capacitors?!?! they were obviously being funded from overseas
- anachronaut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I don't know where you guys are getting that Washington stuff from. You're obviously thinking of New Hampshire, as kcap122 mentioned.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_license_plates
http://c2.com/ward/plates/table.cgi?width=300,columns=3 - wassim2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The sensationalism cost Boston over $750,000 in lost income and salaries of all retards that responded. If the Cartoon Network pays the city $1 million, it will be well worth the PR that they gained from this marketing ploy. "Turner apologizes to the citizens of Boston" - precious. The mayor and police should be the ones apologizing.
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The bullet is enormous, there is no escaping!
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Pay for public servant's costs? I think not. Thats why I pay taxes. I don't pay cops their hourly wage for coming to my house if it's burglarized. If they're ordered to go investigate LED signs, hold responsible the person who gave such a stupid order. The official way to make someone pay the costs is via criminal fines and court fees.
Don't be a dumbass. This is about as serious as littering, and it's just being blown out of proportion. - ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Now, if they publicly defaced property, like Sony did with their lame graffiti campaign, I could understand why people might be pissed about them putting them around town. However, they were magnetic, and came down quite easily.
I agree with the majority of other people, in that Bostonians simply blew this way out of proportion. Doesn't help that the media keeps referring to them as "packages" as well. Last I checked, a package actually contained something. Only thing remotely close to that on these adverts would be the battery packs. -
