- ad0beaddict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+64I think he was trying to protect his car with his body so the garage door wouldn't scratch it
- miketrash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46Hey! I'll just stop this moving car...should be no problem.
- azurepalm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32wtf is he trying to do?
- edilclyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29poor door :( i hope its fine..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26And flipped it over.
- coldfusion055, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Yes, that's what that "_2" at the end of the URL would mean...
- robotexplorer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16ghost riding what a good idea...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Wow, bragging about how much of a "man" you are cuz you drive stick. On Digg. You must lead such a fast-paced life. Where do you find the time to boast about your superior driving skills in between your explosive car chases from cops and blowjobs from hot swimsuit models?
- tkltangent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13it looks like he put the car back in drive then tried to raise the gate in time to run back around and jump back into his moving car. It went a bit faster than he expected.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15if it was a woman, she would have accidentally put it in reverse instead
- tomis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13He obviously put the car in drive, then ran over to open the door, thinking he could jump back in the car in time. Why he thought this would work is beyond me. And what purpose would it serve even if it did work? Was he in some crazy hurry? Without some commentary as to the reasoning of his actions this is just confusing.
- jo3design, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15yeah, cuz we all know only REAL men drive manual-transmission cars...... Help your life, dude.
I'm sorry my Bentley doesn't come with a manual tranny.
*rolls eyes* - FLAESHAL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8harr harr I'll just get in front of my car and hope it slows down by itself while I break my leg
- neodon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I'm glad the dupe police could save the day.
- reevolutn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7actually you do get better millage with a manual. and more power is lost through a auto transmission then a manual transmission, i dont personally have a problem with autos though
- neodon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11It's interesting that you're a stupid moron who doesn't understand that he is being sarcastic.
- dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11I think that was Ando. Good thing Hiro sent him back to Japan, ***** that he is...
- endgames, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Here is my take on why he did this - FWIW
My first thought was that he was trying to out smart some sort of automatic/sensor trip on the door (perhaps to avoid paying). But I just couldn't figure out why or how that would work.
What I think actually happened is that he was having car trouble. Perhaps a low idle causing it to stall. Around the 15 second mark he hesitates and goes back to the car putting it in drive. So I am thinking, he's having stalling issues, comes up to the gate, goes to lift the gate, the car sounds like its going to stall so he goes back to the car and puts it in drive and the rest is history. Given what happens at 15 seconds, I just have a hard time believing that this was his original plan. Maybe I am looking into it too much. - DatoeDakari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ummm, why... did he do that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3because he's a moron
- Onibus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hal 9000 wanted his revenge after many years.
He failed in execution. - Koookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think he wanted a Darwin award.
- GoodOlClint, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Maybe he was trying to get somewhere he shouldn't
Now he can say he did not drive the car through the door if anybody asks..... - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2note to self: ghost riding the whip while opening a manual garage door = bad idea.
- aclements, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, the car drove him through it.
Good grief he is dumb. - mapkinase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He should have used 0.2 gear, not gear 2.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can stop a lightweight car, that's just rolling slowly, quite easily. It seems to roll fast for just taking the handbrake off.
- AcidPhysx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2HE STOLE THE CAR!
He never or rarely drove an automatic!! He is so used to applying the emergency brake, he puts it on when he doesn't need to. He needs to escape the garage quickly, that is why his foot is out on the approach.
In a big adrenaline fueled rush:
He pulls up to the gate, anticipating doing this quickly.
He applies the emergency brake even though he doesn't need to.
He starts to dash out, remembers (somehow) that you don't need the E-Brake for an automatic.
Releases the E-Brake, but forgets to put the car in Park.
He dashes to the button for a quick getaway.
Goes to run back, but my oh my it's too late.
Panics, and then becomes gate food. - AcidPhysx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll play too.
Hmmm. Yes there is definitely a car issue here. Notice how he anticipated doing this. The door is open and his foot is out of the car on his approach. He knows what he is going to attempt. The hesitation you point out also tells us he probably thought about what could happen, but he goes for it anyway.
It also appears he just has to hit a button to lift the gate. No card or security fob.
I was thinking he may have had a dead battery, but why not just leave the parking brake on and slap it in neutral? Endgames makes a great point.
Also notice the blip in the movie at about :33. Was there time passing until (possibly) he got his car started again?
Why not just put the car in gear, and then apply the emergency break? That would probably let the car remain in gear without it crunching you into a gate. Most people forget they have an emergency brake.
I think endgames is right.
The car is stalling in neutral(park):
1. idle air controller
2. computer
3. sensor bad
or my personal favorite,
4. faulty neutral safety switch
If the safety switch is going bad, he may be able to start it only after fiddling with the gear selector and possibly the brake pedal, and when he first started the car it may have taken him 20 minutes, so he sure as hell wasn't going to do it again blocking the exit. - nomad9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, semi-automatic garage door. : )
- AcidPhysx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On a fifth watch he may be releasing the emergency brake at :15, and not shifting it into gear. The newer car probably wouldn't let him do that without applying the brake. Therefore I can't be right in saying that he didn't realize he had an emergency brake.
Yes, he must me releasing the emergency brake. Anyone have a VW that can prove this?
What the ***** was this guy doing?!? - jo3design, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@kmcknight.
It's called humor. You should look it up some time. - Soulglow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1gotta admire his multitasking ethic
- SuperCUBE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For a second there I thought he was trying to commit suicide.
- dougm68, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think he put it in cruise control.
- mapkinase, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1At least should would not be injured. I think I summarize the observation of many that dumb male drivers mostly hurt themselves, while dumb females hurt others. IMVHO.
- kmcknight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1well now that makes sense... source?
- neodon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3"obviously" "dyed"
Who let you off the movie stage, Forrest? - carola36, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What was he thinking/doing anyway ?
What a retard - robotexplorer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I remember when i was around 10 and lived in Germany i saw an auto. and i asked my dad what it was. He said thats something special for grandmas.
now he loves them....
I guess hes getting older. - Klipart, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It looked like he got owned pretty hard there from some sandwich action between the car and door.
- bobothn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2@angrycat
Because you are still using punch cards to type your comment. and have a windows 3.11 box were you have to set the irq for you network card. Why use something more complicated then it has to be? you don't get better gas millage with a manual you don't get more torque there is really no need to have the extra hassle of having a manual. - senorcool, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Showed that door who's boss. Wont be slightly confusing anymore.
- jo3design, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1dugg just because of the clever description. lol
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6http://digg.com/videos/comedy/Parking_Garage_Moron This is the real one. 1713room3 was just 1 minute too late
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5"I think he was trying to protect his car with his body so the garage door wouldn't scratch it"
I couldn't for the life of me figure out what in the holy hell he was thinking risking his organs like that. Does he know human beings are made of soft, squishy material that even a slow moving 800 lb object can tear?
Interesting that you share his mindset. Would you ever do something like that? (Say you replace his small car with something like a Porsche, Ferrari or Lambo) - CyberBlade, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1haha dipship :P
- boobuu, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2In Soviet Russia, car drives you! (sorry had to say it)
