- dbhaley, on 10/10/2007, -3/+59You can't just put a handle on a cannon and call it a "gun."
- resplence, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21To me it was way more impressive the way the old man shoots 5 moving targets in a second, in the beginning of the video.
- CraigJ, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20BFG!
- le0pard, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13HAHO GEE-WHIZZ!
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Ummm... yeah, you can.
A Cannon is a particular variety of "gun".... - Gandhilion, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10oh gee wiz
- Saad85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7well, technically, guns are "hand cannons" because cannons came first.
- nodonoug, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Spell check doesn't do grammar, it would not have helped him.
- Sornos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Dear mastaphoo,
Digg is a community based site, which governs its content by what the majority want. If you don't like it, bury it, or leave.
Sincerely,
The rest of Digg - betacmag4u, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Excellent tool for home defense.
- f8pc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It's more like he just hit the board and knocked off all the clay pigeons. It got a pretty decent diameter off them, but most just fell to the ground.
- christoast, on 09/04/2008, -0/+3THEY'RE GREEEEEEEEEAT
- KenMo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4That's right, you can have that in the United States. It's in the Constitution son. Makes me proud to be an American.
- Grantismo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Once the second amendment isn't being dissolved by politicians anymore,
we can all take those bad boys out of concealment. It'll fit perfectly in my front pocket. - KahNeth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2
hobby, kinda like who need an 850 hp car (not truck), no one, its a hobby - themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think that's what you call a cannon or at least a BFG
- Pzycho, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Dugg for that woody-woodpecker sound as the video ends.
- Mothrog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Way to not get the sarcasm, dumbass.
- Hananda, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Think I saw him hit 8-9 on The History Channel.
- inigomntoya, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yeah, I've got some jockey shorts that will fit it perfectly!
- davewho, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1good video; that was the best part.
- FXPooky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Agreed, I had to watch that a few times to actually believe it.
- debuggercll, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4That's what she said.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Probably right before you took the time to shove your head COMPLETELY up your own ass.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Look at 43s and looks at the blackish-brown powder ring that covers the board from top to bottom... there targets on the edge did get hit, but the ones in the center were "smoked" and that's the ring of powder you see around the board.
I've shot enough clay pigeons to know what that ring looks like. - kerrmudgeon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Punt guns were designed originally for clearing lakes [and skies] of large flocks of water fowl. Users needed to deliver enormous quantities of birdshot in the general direction of their targets as a single burst lest the targets react and fly away thereby humiliating them in front of their hounds. While large smoothbore guns continue to have military applications in the present day, they're typically mounted on armored vehicles rather than carried through the woods by two exhausted grunts, and they seldom fire birdshot. Though the average reader of Digg tends to be frightened by machines that make booms, I seriously doubt this particular device will see service as a "weapon" any time soon. We'll just have to wait until this video is Dugg for the third time to find out for sure!
- redfox2600, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That not a cannon it a squirrel gun.
- KahNeth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1double post
- cranium, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Obviously, to properly deal with anyone who tries to take it away from you.
- chiefbandit2200, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Dinosaurs that have been trained by the government to use weapons.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The gun is not that big, it's just that the people in the video are lilliputs.
- revenge7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Is that a cannon in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
- gamer_013, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I read about the punt gun in a magazine before and it's pretty amazing how this was used for hunting water fowl. They would stand the punt gun up on their boat, point in the direction of a flock of ducks and push the trigger with their foot. That would take out around 60 ducks in one shot. Now that's efficient!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The vengeance missiles were a failure. They had to make launch pads on the rim of France and the Channel to launch the missiles at England, but all of the launch basses were bombed to hell by the British before they even became operable. The missiles were completely impractical.
- KlientL, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Oh Jeee Wiz!!! Would have been better if he would have said OH *****!!
- likeyehokwhatev, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I guess that was cool
- arcooke, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Hey, I remember this video from the last time it was on digg..
- mike81890, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2'invented', dude.... spell check your comments please.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -5/+5Personally, if you want to talk about MASSIVE guns, see the German V-3. Supposedly could fire across the English Channel into the greater London area.
http://www.theotherside.co.uk/tm-heritage/background/v1v2.htm - 2gig, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1As a gun owner, 2nd amndment advocate, and grownup, may I ask where their backstop is? It's this sort of behavior that makes gun owners look nuts. They're just the kids who fill a melon full of gasoline and hit it with a baseball bat.. all grow'd up.
- KMye, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3He's not complaining about digg.com, he's complaining about you...
- Fawkes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2ya missed one
- kerrmudgeon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0 It is safe to assume punt guns like these fire birdshot, as their design goal is clearing large populations of water foul. Birdshot lacks penetrative power and range even at relatively close distances from the muzzle. A thick forest without humans for several hundred yards in the direction of aim should be sufficient to slow however many pounds of shot were fired.
That said, I don't believe this behavior demonstrates any sort of insanity or propensity for risk among gun owners.
Seems like critics, rather than accuse the people in this video of being unsafe, should accuse this video of being a dupe. I thought Digg was a news source, not an archive of old internet clips. - DatDamnCritic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's what video game nerds would call a "n00b cannon".
- mstachiw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Dick Cheney home movies
- netdroid9, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Yeah, who needs to subdue a criminal when you can just annihilate him/her! Think of the money you'll save on the justice system!
Sorry, I just don't see the point in using a gun like that for self-defense. - thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2It would be even more impressive for you to realize the following.
1.) They are hand thrown.
2.) He throws them himself.
3.) He uses a pump shotgun.
As a side note, he invited my favorite way to play golf. With 150 shells and a shotgun. - thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1bah, not really...
To heavy to move and aim. Plus, the holes after one shot would be a bitch. - Yndis, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0if you cant even hold it when you shoot, its not a gun, its a cannon
- ATH025, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Cannon != Gun
