***** bird rats- Eronamanthius, on 10/10/2007, -4/+23Technically it'd be a rat-bird.
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/10/2007, -12/+6I HATE deer.
Not that it pertains to the subject directly but indirectly its another annoying animal reproducing out of control.
***** Road Rats. - foomandoonian, on 10/10/2007, -8/+7I hate people who feed pigeons! There should be a law...
- triskele, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Move to Singapore.

- praveenmarkandu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11000 pounds fine for those who are caught feeding pigeons in trafulgar square london just got imposed
- luet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Pigeons are awesome. Funniest birds in the world.
- brad3378, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I love it when a plan comes together!
- bpwwhirl, on 10/10/2007, -1/+66Ingenious.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+28Now, he needs one on each side so that it gets them as soon as they land.
- ohsin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+52let me guess. you are tower defense fan right :)
- super_spyder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10hah my uncle did the same thing at the apartment building he owns. He kept getting graffiti on one wall so he installed motion activated sprinklers on a timer so they only ran at night, suddenly the graffiti stopped
- S1ngular1ty1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Apparently these auto sprinklers are useful for keeping death away as well.

- gnychis, on 10/10/2007, -2/+130boy do I love when people get creative
- blorc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20I bet it came to him after a few hours of playing Desktop TD at work. Squirt Tower FTW?
- antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1To me, ALIENS' sentry gun scenes. Maybe Half-Life games. ;)
- Takteek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9This seems like the kind of thing where if I tried it I would go way overboard. I can see myself getting mad at the sprinkler missing the last bird and installing like 10 more sprinklers with motion detectors everywhere.
- RobotCitizen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3And then they start detecting each others' motion in an endless chain reaction. The carnage!
- jenpirante, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0lol, you should go for it!
- blorc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20I bet it came to him after a few hours of playing Desktop TD at work. Squirt Tower FTW?
- gnychis, on 10/10/2007, -4/+214we all know the cruel part of us was wishing and waiting for that little bird to get hosed.
- adoggz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5hell, my kind and gentle side was wishing for that bird to get hit
- pcore, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Was I the only one hoping it fell into the water?
- klick37, on 10/10/2007, -19/+4I just peed my pants a little. Someone needs to rig up an automatic shotgun, that would be the only way to one-up this guy.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Nah.... soapy water on a freezing night would be sufficient... and much more cruel.
- drachemorder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Nah, sprinklers are better. That way you don't go to jail if it turns out to be a kid instead of a pigeon that sets off the defense system.
- skyteria, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2or turn into a serial killer or something
- Darthmalt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You mean something like this?
http://digg.com/gadgets/Homemade_Sentry_Gun
Not a shotgun but airsoft is close enough. - Economist35, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8because bird guts in the pool is better than bird *****
- cfd339, on 10/10/2007, -39/+1Fairly stupid. Birds ***** when they take off. He needs to spray them before they land. A motion detector instead of a step pad would work better.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25it is a motion sensor. Did you not even WATCH the video?
- InsaneMachine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15watching the video? how about reading the Title even. It is clearly obvious he watched the video. He is just a complete moron.
- DanJohnHarris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Either way, this will soon train the ***** to find a different spot to chill.
- CraigJ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2WTFV
- ozanweb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Read the title man. I mean, come on. Your smart-ass-comment attempt has failed miserably.
- Achaean, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0sounds like you've had experience watching birds take a *****, congrats
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25it is a motion sensor. Did you not even WATCH the video?
- DarthDaddy, on 10/10/2007, -5/+46DING DING DING! Omg some people are just too fricken funny. Love it!
- darkane, on 10/10/2007, -11/+4I'm sure they ***** twice as much out of fear the very microsecond that thing goes off.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Eventually, they'll stop coming to the area.
- Rikkochet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10That looks like a Scarecrow, for anyone who's interested. Most garden stores sell or can order them. They go for 75-100 bucks (Canadian, presumably lower south of the line).
We had one in our back yard for raccoons in our pond. Works like a charm but you always need to keep the hose hooked up and "on" so it has pressure.
Decent toy, though.- absinthemind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Not sure about the one in the video but here's the one Rikkochet was talking about: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000071NUS/
To keep my neighbor's dogs from ***** in my yard, well worth the $65. Great reviews too; average 4.5/5 for 113 reviews.- centran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22Did you look at the customer images.... WTF?!?!?! LOL!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-images/B000071NUS/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_all/104-6372719-7324741?ie=UTF8&s=hi#gallery
Apparently it scares death away, dinosaurs, David Bonaduce, Godzilla, and even Michael Jackson!- bethehammer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3OMG the funniest thing I have seen all day!!!
- blindmelon1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Someone should give those customer images their own article.!
- centran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22Did you look at the customer images.... WTF?!?!?! LOL!
- absinthemind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Not sure about the one in the video but here's the one Rikkochet was talking about: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000071NUS/
- romainechester, on 10/10/2007, -0/+32I love the background music. Suits the video well.
- account12, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5The music and bell ringing in that video are the best part. DING!
- marvin69, on 10/10/2007, -3/+83Tried this to keep deer out of my mom's garden. Worked for a month and then the deer found the spray enjoyable! They now walk purposely in front of the sprinkle and arch their backs. I guess it helps with fleas or ticks.
Now I just need to retrofit it with a shot gun! This will keep the deer off and feed my mom at the same time! As well as keep those pesky kids off the lawn.- IEatHamburgers, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Gotta go put a sprinkler near the bait pile now...
- kelly, on 10/10/2007, -1/+151I love how the sprinkler freaks out and blasts like rapid fire machine gun.
- cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+33You mean like a sprinkler?
- ColorBlind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23I think he needs to change the color of the tile right there so they don't know they can land....
- marvin69, on 10/10/2007, -18/+111. Electrify the pool water.
2. Fee pigeon meat.
3. Profit.- SnuKs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9You might as well eat rat if you're gonna eat pigeon meat =P
- marvin69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Pigeons are doves. Doves taste good.
Pigeons eat trash and *****. Pigs eat trash and *****. Pigs taste good.
Therefor pigs can fly... wait I think I got that wrong...
- marvin69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Pigeons are doves. Doves taste good.
- SnuKs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9You might as well eat rat if you're gonna eat pigeon meat =P
- SheilaNoya, on 10/10/2007, -1/+60I have a friend who installed something similar in his front yard to keep dogs from crapping all over it. He actually got complaints from people who were walking their dogs. Apparently, some of them feel it's their right to stop in front of his house and let their dogs squat on his lawn as long as they pick it up afterwards (which most of them DON'T).
- Namakemono, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Is that in an aviary or something? I've never seen so many birds attracted to a jacuzzi.
- sp1keNARF, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11birds love jacuzzis, especially the really shallow areas where the jacuzzi drains into the pool. they takes baths and frolic.
- heartcoldfusion, on 10/10/2007, -13/+2If you're an American, don't enjoy that video, otherwise someone on the comments might make fun of you.
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -6/+28Wait 'til I tell PETA. </sarcasm>
- NinjaBoy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Just use the hose on them too.
- gn0stik, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16It'd be better if it was a more focused beam of water, the spray is too widely dispersed. I'd have to mod it until I saw feathers being removed at least. There would be a problem getting it to auto aim however. If you could get it to do that however, rigging up a paintball marker or fully auto airsoft gun would be awesome. I'm running off to Make, and instructables for ideas.
- sp1keNARF, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5you wouldn't really have to aim it, just center the stream down the wall area between the pool & spa
- FlyCO, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I don't find feathers much better than guano at my pool water
- sj200, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's adjustable . . .

- terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22Assuming you are chlorinating the pool, you're probably doing the birds a favour. Drinking too much pool water probably makes them sick over time.
- Eallan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4My dogs drink nothing but our pool water. They have dishes the ignore. They're still health as ever surprisingly.
- wallish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Have you been drinking the pool water too?
- Eallan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4My dogs drink nothing but our pool water. They have dishes the ignore. They're still health as ever surprisingly.
- mentor972, on 10/10/2007, -16/+2Reminds me of this cat repellent system..
http://digg.com/gadgets/Awesome_cat_repellant_system_that_uses_motion_detection- Economist35, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4that you submitted? I buried it out of spite
- Shinobi326, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Where was this device when I had the neighbor dog doing his daily dump in my front lawn when I was at work! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
- ohsin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Jim Carrey shows the way in "me,myself and Irene" ;)
- aparatoc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Now if there was something like that for frogs that hang out at my pool.
- InsaneMachine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14add Chlorine?
- RealmDown, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Invite politicians and lawyers to a party. Snakes eat frogs.
- marvin69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Put up a German flag.
That will keep the French out of your pool.- cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6No, just put up a white flag in your neighbor's yard. They'll flock over there.
- IEatHamburgers, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Yeah, but what about French Canadians?
- marvin69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Put a wall around a city and call it Quebec.. I think that's French for happy camp... or is it concentration camp.. my French isn't that good.
- FlyCO, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0A salt sprinkler maybe?
- alexanEmpire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11I MUST have those plans!
- sonicsi16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Plans? Just buy one, they are commercially available.
Here's just one of many products: http://www.amazon.com/Contech-Electronics-Scarecrow-Motion-Activated-CRO101/dp/B000071NUS
- sonicsi16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Plans? Just buy one, they are commercially available.
- JanieNut, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3My husband needs this for the squirrels who get into the bird feeder.
- WorldGroove, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This'll work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8YZIhlWpS0 - cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How about just putting a squirrel barrier on them? It's just a big cone that goes over the top. Also, the sprinkler isn't going to discriminate between birds and squirrels.
- graemee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6And the birds as well.
- WorldGroove, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This'll work.
- ShannaraFan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+77Ahhh, yes, the Scarecrow! I have one of these for keeping deer out of our garden. I've also used it against some neighborhood kids. Someone kept tampering with our Christmas decorations last year. I was never able to catch them, so I bought a "heat tape" to keep the garden hose and Scarecrow from freezing, and turned it on each night before going to bed. The third night that it was turned on, I heard someone yell from the front yard. Got up, looked outside, just in time to see two kids running down the street. The Scarecrow had apparently soaked one or both of them. Not a pleasant thing to have happen in December in Minnesota. I had no further problems with my decorations. BWAAAHAHAHAHA!!!
- nrfx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6^^^FTW!
- mrb712, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12There is no way to rate this as high as it deserves. I hate pigeons. I hate them I hate them I hate them.

"only thing now is rig it with a gun, and program it to shoot black people" - smtelegadis, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6***** BRILLIANT! Whoever invented that needs to Patent it an bring it to market. I guarantee that Guy/Gal will be on Donnie Deutsch in no time.
- ShannaraFan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It's a commercial product that he bought, called The Scarecrow: http://www.birdbgone.com/scarecrow.htm
- sobe86, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3How did he make it so that the sprinkler wouldn't set off the motion detector again? I would have thought it would just keep going.
- ShannaraFan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The sprinkler is a commercial product called The Scarecrow: http://www.birdbgone.com/scarecrow.htm
Each time it fires, there is an 8-second delay before the sensor begins "watching" for movement. - ShannaraFan, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2It's a commercial product, not something he "made": http://www.birdbgone.com/scarecrow.htm
Each time the sprinkler fires, there is an 8-second delay before the sensor starts "watching" for movement. - clinefx1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0It probably a passive InfraRed sensor. Not looking for motion but looking for a change in heat. Awesome question. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_infrared_sensor

- Damian91, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The little one defeated the evil water monster, and celebrated with a refreshing poop in the pool.
- Krlll, on 10/10/2007, -17/+3Its a hot day and the birds just need a drink.
"But they ***** in my pool!"
Who cares about your stupid pool.I would rather look out my window and see birds getting a drink than an empty pool.
Still I wouldn't mind seeing this in action against cats.I hate cats.lol- jamima69z, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8obviously you aren't responsible for keeping a pool clean.
oh,and you're also a dick.- Krlll, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0My god people have to clean their pools because of birds!
What an inconvenience, next you will be telling me people have to clean their own asses.

Not *****.
What if your neighbors come over and take a dump in your pool?- Krlll, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0So now a bird ***** in my pool is the same as my neighbour ***** in my pool?
Well I hope that doesnt happen and I hope they dont come and steal nuts and berries from my bird table either.

I need one of those for the dogs that rip open the garbage bags on collection nite !!!- tenchimato, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3then it will activate when the people comes collecting your garbage bags...
- blindmelon1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0He could put a timer on his hose, so that it would turn off just before collection time :)
- tenchimato, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3then it will activate when the people comes collecting your garbage bags...
- azprofessional, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Somebody find me a video with the tagline 'Raccoon Catapult'
- thespudmall, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have always wanted to set one of up on halloween!
- mikejoz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Be very careful, you are going to make the PETA loonies absolutely rabid with videos like this.
- InternetRules, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Pigeons don't like to sit on wires so I put one on top of the railings on my balcony, they never sit there anymore
- agraham208, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2Does roffling at that make me a bad person?

- antdude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I had a bird drop crap on my face. Ugh. Not fun.
- Ben174, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1This is great. But why do motion-activated sprinklers really exist? What real-world use would you have for watering your lawn only when motion is detected?
- SirKi11a1ot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5To scare away birds.
